To not know the name of the guy I'm dating?

This will probably all sound a bit strange!

I've been dating a man for a couple of months but I don't actually know his name and now we're too far in for me to ask him! We met at a mutual friend's party and my friend introduced me to him. She told me his name but it isn't an an English name or one that I've heard before so I only caught the general sound of it, rather than the actual name itself.

We've been going on dates for a couple of months now and it's too late for me to ask him his name. I can't ask my friend his name because she'll also think it's very odd that we've been dating for 2 months and I don't know.

I've been avoiding calling him by his name when together and I'm not sure how I can find this out!

Anyone else been in a situation like this?

It happens to everyone - it will have happened to your date - so why not be refreshingly honest about your very human failing and admit it?

Front up and say, "This is really embarrassing, but I don't know your name". He'll tell you, you'll both laugh, and then you'll know what it is. The relief will be palpable. Maybe he's forgotten your name too, and this will give him a chance to ask you.

I forgot my best school friend's name at the start of our friendship and I tried to find out sneakily, but she caught me and asked what I was doing, so I confessed, and she was fine about it.

I’ve had a few people over the years call me by a name similar to mine. One woman I corrected so much I just let her get on it in the end and started answering to the wrong name.

Just text him and say I need to know how to spell your name and then you'll have to buy him something with his name on like a mug or something to keep as a quick present on standby just if he ever remembers to ask you why you asked. Then you could just style it out and say oh I'd forgotten about that here it is 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think I would honestly just ask Failing that, send him a card or present and ask for his full name and address

I'd just be completely honest and say do you wanna know something really embarrassing? I don't remember your name and I'm worried in case I have a dreadful accident and someone sees my call log filled with Hot Bod and judge me.

I used to live with a man and i didnt know his name the whole 6 months we lived together i knew it started with an m so i called him M. To this day i still have no idea lol. Just ask your friend or ask him how to spell it.

When at university, I met a guy in the student bar and we clicked immediately....but I had been quite drunk and didn't remember his name. Luckily my house mates were with me and they remembered!

Later, I wanted to find out his surname and happened to see some post at his student house. Thought I was so clever when I referred to him by his full name - until he corrected me. Turns out one of his housemates was also called 'John' and his surname was entirely different!

He's my husband now!
