Meghan Markle story time

Posting here for the traffic and so this is read by a diverse pool of people - not just royal fans...

I really like Meghan Markle and I admire her for carving her own way and being a feminist in her choices. I like that she waited after the birth for photos and spoke up about the metoo movement etc.

As much as I like Duchess of Cambridge, I don’t think she does anything to advance women. She seems to do what is expected of her which people love but which I find awful. She has a responsibility as a role model for young women but yet Seems to be the perfect, painfully thin, upper class wife that does as she is told, rarely speaks and is every sexist, wealthy, white man’s dream.

I’m a little lost as to why people seem to be pro Kate and anti Meghan. Is it because Kate is what all middle class women aspire to be in England. Doing as one is told ? Being a softly spoken English lady that wears tweed and frolics in the country while her husband is on a boys ski trip etc etc

Have we all forgot about feminism ?

I genuinely want to have a conversation about feminism in the UK and how the royal family, the media and the public expect and treat the Princesses.

I don’t think it is Their fault. Kate Middleton is trying to be part of a family that expects a lot.

I just wonder if British women stop to question whether the British royal family is a sexist institution.

Oh I had hoped this was just a simple discussion about the Story time video.

Not yet another opportunity for pitching women against others or bashing Royals.

God do we need 800 threads about what an evil narc whore she is? You know by page 12 people will be screaming about nail varnish, scented candles at the church, no friends at the wedding, and all the other claptrap that’s been thrown around for the past couple of years.

Meghan’s been demonised so much, the gang who are obsessed with her no longer see her as a human being at all but a target that has to be destroyed no matter what. It’s like 1984: the daily Hate as a bonding ritual. It’s pure target practise.

@cinnamonbuns I think Meghan Markle. I’m wondering exactly that, why do people bash her and hero worship Kate for doing the right thing and being obedient. Do they not realise how absurd that is after sexism and treatment of Di.

I think we’ll all reflect and applaud Meghan for taking a stand against media and moving her family to where they aRe happier

I didn’t realise freedom of speech was against the law in the UK.

However, it’s a valid point you’re making. What people want from royal wives is what Kate delivers. Someone who’ll push out babies, look good in clothes, smile, keep her mouth shut and do as she’s told.

The assertive, mixed race American didn’t stand a chance.
