When it becomes available. How many people will?

bluestarsatnightfall · 02/05/2020 19:54

Why wouldn't you? It's only an app!

Sparklesocks · 02/05/2020 19:56

If it’s accurate, not dodgy and and means I have more freedom to go where I choose - then I would

Bringonspring · 02/05/2020 19:57

You’ll fine that a whole heap more apps that run on your phone already run your location in the background etc,

Mum2jenny · 02/05/2020 19:57

I wouldn’t, not sure why tho’

PineappleDanish · 02/05/2020 19:57

I will, if it gives me my freedom back.

Yup I will be. I want to be able to see my family and if this is an easy way to make that happen then of course I will. I never go anywhere anyway so I have no issues about people knowing where I am.

The vaccination however, I’m personally unsure of. Not because I’m anti-vac (I’m not at all) but because I’d be concerned about the fast turnaround and lack of testing and unknowing of long term side effects. I’m assuming if/when one is developed they’ll be able to release more info about it but everything is so unknown at the moment that I personally wouldn’t want to inject anything into my body yet (unless it’s disinfectant of course.....Hmm)

Kingjarvis · 02/05/2020 19:59

I will. I don’t wear a tin foil hat.

Rottnest · 02/05/2020 20:02

I have already downloaded it!
I am not in the UK>

M00NPIE · 02/05/2020 20:03

I will.

dahlia83 · 02/05/2020 20:05

What are your reasons for not doing so?

heartsonacake · 02/05/2020 20:10

Of course. Most of your apps are already tracking your every movement you’re just not aware of it, so if that’s your reason not to then you’re being silly.

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2020 20:11

I can't think of a reason not to.

Mum2jenny · 02/05/2020 20:12

I tend to leave my phone at home when im out. Why do I need it?

Insideout99 · 02/05/2020 20:13

I will. I do understand people’s reasons for being cautious but I think the benefits outweigh that

EndlessUserName · 02/05/2020 20:16

How does it help you to see your family?

I won't be downloading. Mainly because it makes me SO ANGRY that this app is only just happening now and not 4 months ago when the government were warned about coronavirus

QuestionMarkNow · 02/05/2020 20:21

@heartsonacake, they only do that if you let them. Disable the location and they don’t.

Alicemovedtothecity · 02/05/2020 20:23

At the moment I am thinking no.
Think it’s because I don’t like the thought of something else tracking me. Yea I know a lot of apps etc can trace you etc but most of the time I leave my phone at home.
I’m not happy about paying for everything currently with a card I prefer to pay for everything in cash so the tracing app seems like an invasion of my privacy I guess as well.
Just my opinion at the moment I will look into more of the pros nearer the time.

Unhomme · 02/05/2020 20:23

@stopfundinghate

not 4 months ago when the government were warned about coronavirus

Firstly, it's been in Europe for less than 4 months.
Secondly, do you think there's an app ready to go for these things (there is now, if ppl download it)
Thirdly, you wont download because it's only available now? Are you alright in the head?

I understand the app doesnt track but works on bluetooth connection. It think it should work in GpS so we can see hotspots

Spaghetti123 · 02/05/2020 20:25

Nope.

heartsonacake · 02/05/2020 20:25

they only do that if you let them. Disable the location and they don’t.

QuestionMarkNow If you think that simply disabling the location usage on an app stops you being tracked then you’re very naive.

WanderingMilly · 02/05/2020 20:26

No, I shan't. I don't always have my 'phone with me, it's often switched off and at home....I don't like being at the beck and call of a 'phone, nor do I like being traced. And since my 'phone only does texts and calls anyway, it wouldn't download an app even if I wanted to.

I am sure I wont be the only one who doesn't have this app when it becomes available, and it really won't be compulsory...

Nochangeplease · 02/05/2020 20:27

I never understand why normal everyday people would care about the government knowing what they do. What do you think they can do with this information? How can it harm you?

Isawthathaggis · 02/05/2020 20:28

Nope, me neither.
I don’t see how it will work. Everybody with a smart phone would need to download it in order to get enough data for it to work. I can’t see that happening.

UntamedWisteria · 02/05/2020 20:30

I will.

For the greater good.

people who use google maps on your phones to see if there are traffic delays on your journey, you realise it's a similar idea?

Google maps gets its data from all the other google users to tell you if there's a hold up.
