Is it normal to not flush the loo at night?

So DH won't flush the loo over night if it's just a wee, he says it's because he grew up in the south east and they regularly had droughts so don't flush, I think it's absolutely disgusting. Lately I've only been using the downstairs loo (as I'm too busy with DD to bother checking he's flushed the loo) so will often only go in to the upstairs bathroom in the early evening at bath time and find it unflushed and it stinks. Do other men/people do this?

There is a saying in our house. If it’s yellow let it mellow, it it’s brown flush it down. YABU.

We don’t flush overnight but it’s flushed until late evening and then again first thing in the morning.

We don't because it wakes up dd2 whose bed is the other side of the bathroom wall.

We don’t flush at night. Out last place had noisy plumbing so it became a habit.

I always flush and so does my husband. Stained and stinking loos are not for us.

Would never put bleach down it though which seems to be a MN nightly event!

Working for a water company, this is actually something we talk to kids about as part of our education sessions in schools. Much more efficient use of water not to flush overnight

If I go for a wee during the night then I never flush.

My dh doesn’t flush wees in the night cause he goes about six times and it’s wake us all up.
But he DOES always flush first thing in the morning (he gets up first so I don’t see/smell it)

No we always flush 🤷‍♀️ part of me thinks we actually need water going through the system

I dont flush in the night as get up to wee regularly so would disturb people. It doesn't smell really strongly tho? I drink loads of water, maybe that's why.

Go to the loo so many times at night it seems wasteful to flush each time when I know I'll be the first person up and flushing it then before anyone else even sees..plus don't want to wake others up. Doesn't smell ..just leave the lid down after.

I leave it til morning to flush a wee - its not stinky or staining here, you need to drink more water if it is. I also pee in the shower though so I suspect I’m not someone you will want to take advice from.

We don't flush over night at all. I'd say not since dc came along over ten years ago but actually I'm pretty sure we didn't before then either incase either of us woke the other up

If it's pee let it be if its b set it free!

We didn’t flush when the children were babies or in fact turn the light on (extractor fan) as their room was right next to the loo. Then we did again, but DS 2 has just moved back into that room so we don’t flush in the night any more - I do when I have my period though.

DH doesn’t flush wees at all and I hate it - mainly because the stench starts to get awful at midday as he often lets them build up.

We don’t flush overnight so as not to disturb anyone. It doesn’t smell or stain.

That said I often find it unflushed (by dh) during the day and that annoys me...especially as both the seat and lid are left UP (and that is a whole other thread!)

Always flush in this house. It’s not so loud it wakes anyone. Can’t bear having it wait for me in the morning.
