Sainsburys delivery - neighbour getting them every week

How? Healthy family with two children. They have a mid week delivery pass, we have it too - for years! I never managed to find a slot! She said they have deliveries booked for the next 4 weeks! I admit I’m jealous, but I’d really like to know !!

OP posts:

It really must vary by area - we have priority access and can always find a lot but only ever for the coming week, never further ahead. We usually book about 5 days in advance.

Dozer · 05/04/2020 10:57

It’s getting priority access that’s an issue.

Dozer · 05/04/2020 10:57

At midnight slots pop up as already fully booked, on tesco, sainsburys, asda and morrisons Sad

WhyNotMe40 · 05/04/2020 11:06

I get an email from Sainsbury's once a week to say they have completed their vulnerable customer slots, and there are now some available for deliver pass holders. So I book one per week. Previously I would have 3 per week. They only release them 3 days in advance.
Can't see a problem if they are happy all their vulnerable customers have had slots.
I am also a teacher on rota with HCP children so I would rather not be unknowingly spreading it around the public if possible by going shopping, if I can avoid it. Currently only leave the house for work, not even exercise...

Dozer · 05/04/2020 11:10

Their registered over-70 or “extremely vulnerable” customers. Other vulnerable / extremely vulnerable people cannot register.

Am sure it’s hard for all the food retailers.

WhyNotMe40 · 05/04/2020 11:16

I am never getting the last slot - there appears to be plenty available here. Must be a regional thing

Tumbleweed101 · 05/04/2020 11:21

I’ve had regular slots with Tesco for years and when I couldn’t get my usual weekend one just before lockdown I prebooked them, anticipating a problem. I also got early access to the Easter ones so booked those too. Have them weekly until 20th April. Couldn’t get one yesterday for the following weekend despite being on at the time they usually release slots but I could get my mum one - she is in the vulnerable group - so they are obviously prioritising those people now. I will add bits I need to her slot that week unless I can get my own.

I’m a single parent, very rural and a key worker. I’m adding on things for colleagues, my work place and family each time.

teainthetardis · 05/04/2020 11:48

Dozer have you called them?

Cotswolds10 · 05/04/2020 11:48

@Dozer Yep, sorry, you’re absolutely right about vulnerable people. I didn’t phrase that comment very well. I was trying to say that the neighbour getting slots wasn’t something to get jealous about. As far as it seems from the OP, they haven’t mentioned being vulnerable.

Dozer · 05/04/2020 13:32

Have tried calling Sainsburys 20x a day, over several days. Automated, long message then cut off.

Dozer · 05/04/2020 13:34

“The government is identifying those they consider the most vulnerable. They'll then be eligible for priority delivery”.

So unless 70 or over, being disabled/vulnerable isn’t enough.

Bee128 · 05/04/2020 13:35

May have booked them a. Few weeks ago before this madness. I’ve always booked my slots in advance particularly around the school holidays!

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 05/04/2020 13:40

I'm in extremely vulnerable group and all slots near me all taken.

Really hope they can sort this soon, it's very stressful shielding and not knowing when you can get food. Not sure if we need to start doing one day say just porridge/UHT then one day 'normal food' to stretch it out.

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 05/04/2020 13:42

Dozer
I got through to sainsburys but he said the system can't cope so although I'm recognised as shielding there are no slots.

Dozer · 05/04/2020 13:47

V sorry to hear that MangePas. Hope you’ve got some some help getting food and essentials.

No, I wouldn't like to ask friends to do a full shop for family of six adult sized people. We are shielding as a family as I do t think it's practical for me to avoid the family and be in the spare room for 12 weeks living separately.

I understand it's no ones fault and I'm lucky I'm not working on the frontline.

I just wish the government wouldn't keep making out that vulnerable people are getting food when they aren't.

eddiemairswife · 05/04/2020 13:59

I was offered slots by Waitrose last week; I have a delivery coming tomorrow. I had a letter from NHS to say I was vulnerable (age only, no health problems). Are the supermarkets notified about the older people in their area? As far as I know Waitrose have details of my name and address only.

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 05/04/2020 15:56

I have got a slot! Finally, seem to be in the system.

Dozer · 05/04/2020 15:56

Fantastic, you must be so relieved!

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 05/04/2020 16:10

Very relieved-everything seems better when there's the prospect of a croissant and naice jam Smile

Hope everyone who is struggling can get sorted soon.

Lizziesbusy · 05/04/2020 18:25

OP seems to have vanished!? If still reading, if your posts IRL are anything like your personality, it’s no wonder they may not have told you about any hidden illnesses!

To clarify, as far as I’m aware going on the FB group for my conditions and the 7 page letter I received from my Consultant, for those with illness such as diabetes and asthma as well as other issues such as medications that lower immunity who may be considered to be ‘at risk’ would have received a letter from their Consultant and then be put onto a point-scoring system.

The points then dictate whether you fall into the ‘extremely vulnerable’ category or not.

Dozer - Email your MP. They’ll put you in touch with your local Council who will then liaise with your Parish Council if you have one or at the very least a charity. I had to do this and the response was fantastic. Within 24 hours the village volunteers had bought round some basic supplies to tide us over and we email daily.

S’burys confirmed to me that I am on the extremely high list and within minutes I was able to arrange a delivery for a few days later.

Good luck. Sorry if I have misread your posts, currently dealing with a child facetiming her grandparents....another battle...

@Dozer try this number instead: ‭0800 052 5500‬

Coffeepot72 · 07/04/2020 13:04

I just got a Morrison’s delivery for next Thursday, I think more slots are now coming through?
