Sainsburys delivery - neighbour getting them every week

How? Healthy family with two children. They have a mid week delivery pass, we have it too - for years! I never managed to find a slot! She said they have deliveries booked for the next 4 weeks! I admit I’m jealous, but I’d really like to know !!

Not in vulnerable group went online and ordered frozen meals for two weeks time without any issues.

SharonasCorona · 03/04/2020 13:24

Calm down people, OP’s post is clearly tongue in cheek! It’s normal to be envious of someone with weekly deliveries. No need to get the pitchforks out.

TurnOffTheTv · 03/04/2020 13:25

Tesco open their slots at midnight, I do click and collect every week but obviously can’t book anything like I normally do so I just stayed up last night to book it.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 03/04/2020 13:25

I've got 3 or 4 deliveries booked with Asda over the next 2 weeks, but DH is in the vulnerable group, plus I've been ordering some extras for DM.

Lovemusic33 · 03/04/2020 13:25

Who cares?

I’m still getting a weekly delivery because I booked them a month ago (I have one left after tomorrow’s then can’t get any more). I predicted there would be a shortage and booked them ages ago for this reason. And for anyone who wants to call me selfish....I do have 2 disabled children and am a single parent, I can’t leave my kids to shop but I’m not on the venerable list.

DishingOutDone · 03/04/2020 13:26

See I knew there would be people like you OP. I get a weekly delivery. I've been getting it for 7am but I know neighbours are about and watching us.

I don't want to discuss my health conditions with my neighbours, because they are the sort of people that then decide if those conditions are worthy of sympathy too. Oh and they're out clapping for the NHS every week yet at the same time having friends round for a few drinks.

Bowerbird5 · 03/04/2020 13:27

We got one. We are in the vulnerable catergory but DH said he didn't use it just went through a normal procedure I rang my friend and she got one too. Just lucky I guess but DH checked after we finished and they were all gone. It was Tesco. We don't get one normally but were very grateful as we live out of town and haven't been out of the house for 14 days and today we had to go to the vet and it is the first time we have been out of the village in three weeks. Tesco was 80 products and limited to three of one thing.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 03/04/2020 13:28

Maybe she knows she's on the vulnerable list and doesn't want to share the details with nosey neighbours so is brushing it off as "oh, we just booked it"?? I wouldn't tell my neighbours why we're getting Sainsbury's deliveries. It's not their business to know our personal details.

slartibarti · 03/04/2020 13:28

My neighbours have just had an Ocado delivery. They've got a toddler and a 3 month old baby. I'm really pleased they managed to get one Smile

user556677 · 03/04/2020 13:28

Does having a small baby give them special access to slots?

Sounds like my neighbour Dishingout I went inside in disgust. She is supposed to be starting with the NHS too. They have been back and forth and the neighbours were outside clapping with friends two doors away. Grrrrr!

CaryStoppins · 03/04/2020 13:30

Maybe log it with 101.

DishingOutDone · 03/04/2020 13:31

@SharonasCorona - Calm down people, OP’s post is clearly tongue in cheek!

Yeah, right.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 03/04/2020 13:31

Yes, that's unusual OP. Completely contradicts all the anecdotal evidence I've read (and experienced myself) with trying to get delivery slots.

It's incredibly frustrating. Definitely ask for a refund for your midweek delivery pass when you can.

Meanwhile, I guess the only thing we can all do is ... keep trying.

Fishcakey · 03/04/2020 13:32

I had my last one this week. I always book well in advance as I like the same slot every week. Click and collect after this though.

Marieo · 03/04/2020 13:35

There are a lot of slots available for pass holders at moment here, I think some people have stopped checking as much as they don't think that they will get one.

Bluecattt · 03/04/2020 13:36

This OP ideas piss me off!
I’m very vulnerable but I look fit and young.
I very grateful for delivery slots !
How dare you judge someone you know fuck about!
For all I know my whole street can complain about my Ocado arriving weekly. I am very vulnerable and I need these slots!!! Mind you fucking business!!!

Bert2020 · 03/04/2020 13:36

I just know our neighbours think the same about us. I’ve been desperately searching for slots. I’m pregnant have high blood pressure and diabetes so we locked down before the official lockdown, we aren’t taking risks. I’m not showing yet so no one would have a clue and tbf it’s none of their business!

BananaChocolateLump · 03/04/2020 13:37

Fucking leave them alone.

Namesgonenow · 03/04/2020 13:38

Fucking hell. What is unfair OP?

namechangetheworld · 03/04/2020 13:38

I'm not sure why some Mumsnetters act like jealousy is a crime. It's a perfectly natural human emotion. We can't all be selfless beacons of positivity 24/7.

It's shit that you can get a slot OP. I can't get one for the next month OP, so I'm off to Tesco in a bit. I'd rather stay at home in my dressing gown though!

Greenscissors · 03/04/2020 13:42

There are a lot of slots available for pass holders at moment here, I think some people have stopped checking as much as they don't think that they will get one.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is true in some places: We've had lots of local companies start offering delivery, as well as the community coming together to help each other. It was only having a delivery pass that made me keep checking for slots (as online delivery has become part of the routine).

In theory, vulnerable people should have been identified and the leftover slots are then offered up - seems fair enough to me.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 03/04/2020 13:42

90% of the replies on this thread are way more offensive than the OP.

The OP's biggest crime is to say "I admit I'm jealous" - well, I would be too in those circumstances as both she and her neighbour have a midweek delivery pass.

This thread is a perfect example of people losing their sense of proportion.

Duvetdweller · 03/04/2020 13:43

I’ve got a delivery pass and can pretty much get one whenever suits! I’m also ordering for my parents and my in laws and friends who can’t get out

HairyFloppins · 03/04/2020 13:44

I am getting them every week as well. Loads of slots here and Tesco.

But I am disabled though, is that ok?
