How? Healthy family with two children. They have a mid week delivery pass, we have it too - for years! I never managed to find a slot! She said they have deliveries booked for the next 4 weeks! I admit I’m jealous, but I’d really like to know !!

I tried to register today to sort an online hop for my 95 year old MIL. The plans was for her to move in with us - we've been self-isolating since school broke up but I've shown some symptoms in the past 3 days so that's off now. There is nobody else to do her shopping apart from another neighbour and I don't like asking them.

Sainsbury's won't allow anyone else to register though. Everyone else seem fully booked. It's a pretty desperate situation for lots of families. I don't really blame OP for thinking out loud. She wasn't being mean, just honest, curious and a bit jealous. Leave her alone, eh?

CazM2012 · 03/04/2020 13:47

If you had said Tesco and a couple of extra kids I may have thought you were talking about us Grin
We have a weekly shop through Tesco and still have as I am up most the night anyway and manage to find the slots as they come up at 12/1/2am. My DH almost lost his foot in January with an infection and added risk with his diabetes, still not fully recovered and any illness is made worse by how ill he has been, he has several other health problems, none of which can be seen. It may not be the case with your neighbour but there are plenty of reasons why a weekly slot is required.

OurGardenShed · 03/04/2020 13:48

I’ve got an Ocado delivery coming tomorrow morning. I wonder if my neighbours will be nosying and commenting?

bellinisurge · 03/04/2020 13:49

I booked my weekly delivery slots well before lockdown. Because I'm organised like that. I got my last one earlier this week.
And today I took delivery of some veg from a local greengrocers offering delivery. And my usual delivery from the milkman. And yesterday I drove over to my over 70s in-laws with their stuff I had added to my delivery. And spent most of this week trying to get them on the Sainsburys list of vulnerable customers.
Not everyone is evil and trying to shaft you, op.

slartibarti · 03/04/2020 13:49

Does having a small baby give them special access to slots?

No. Unlike the other supermarkets Ocado can't tell all the non-vulnerable people to shop in store as they don't have any stores.
So far they don't seem to be prioritising anyone except delivery pass holders according to email sent out last week.
Still v difficult to get a slot though and lots of complaints online.

midsomermurderess · 03/04/2020 13:49

This situation is really bringing out the worst in some people. OP, word of advice, stop twitching those curtains, wind your neck in and have a damn good look at yourself. Your lack of self awareness alone, stomping about on Mumsnet because of this, is chilling.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 03/04/2020 13:51

If you have a delivery pass they are releasing slots mid week, I assume after they have allocated the slots for the vunerable. We got an emsil about it last 2 weeks when released. So we have had a delivery every week too but you cant book 4 weeks in advance so not sure where you got that bit from.

Bet she doesn't want you to know about health conditions. I know a man who is HIV positive. Hardly anyone knows, i doubt if you ask him why he is getting deliveries he would lie to you too.

Nousernameforme · 03/04/2020 13:53

I've got a delivery coming Sunday we've always done online shopping since I had issues leaving the house going years back. I had managed to book this one in a few weeks back before it went haywire.

I am sure at least one of our neighbours are going to be "commenting" on it but that one moans about everything so I shan't take any notice.

Seriously OP it sucks for you but leave her be.

Chilling? Get a grip for goodness sakes. She was curious about why her neighbour was getting weekly deliveries and she wasnt able to. She was looking for advice and maybe a bit of support. What's chilling is the amount of profanity filled replies accusing her of being a terrible person for asking a perfectly valid question.

And if you're claiming that you've never glanced out of your window and happened to notice one of your neighbours going about their daily business then you're a liar. Hardly makes her a curtain twitcher.

BabyMoonPie · 03/04/2020 13:55

@user556677 we have a Sainsburys delivery pass. We're not vulnerable so couldn't book deliveries for a couple of weeks. We then got an email saying they were giving access to slots to delivery pass holders and there was a link in the email to book a delivery - if I go through the link I can book slots again (if I go on the app it still says I'm not on the vulnerable list so won't let me book)

MadeleineMaxwell · 03/04/2020 14:00

We've had a Sainsbo's delivery pass for years. We can still get slots, but only week by week, can't book in advance. So we two asthmatics are still getting home deliveries. I think that's reasonable.

Redcherries · 03/04/2020 14:03

Jesus, not everyone at Risk looks bloody ill or old. You'd never know I was but I am, I'm not ill day to day but have to take antibiotics everyday for life and have various vaccinations due to an inability to fight infection making me highly vulnerable to secondary infection and complications I wouldn't survive from.

Stop bloody judging when you don't know!

Ferfooksek · 03/04/2020 14:04

I’ve managed to get a delivery every week

Hydradancer · 03/04/2020 14:05

My family is fine, we have a car and we are getting Sainsbury's delivery weekly because we have a delivery pass. In most areas, if you don't have a pass and are not registered with them as vulnerable you won't be able to book home delivery, you might be able to get a Click & Collect if you're lucky.

When I log in to my Sainsburys account I see loads of slots but when I log in with an old account my husband had then nothing is available. I also don't think they are allowing new registrations or delivery passes.
Obviously they are able to meet the local demand for vulnerable people because so many slots are still available for pass holders who are only getting what is left.

headispounding · 03/04/2020 14:06

We've been able to get one each week....didn't realise it was that difficult. Have had to look a few times each week but there are often a few when they are released.

EmmaBridgewater20 · 03/04/2020 14:07

I’ve always booked and checked out my Ocado deliveries as far in advance as it will go as it’s a popular delivery slot that works for us so is always gone up to a 10 days before - she’s probably done the similar.

There was a post on a local fb group here yesterday saying Sainos had slots left for everyone after allocating to all there vulnerable customers this week.

2girls3dogs · 03/04/2020 14:07

We’ve got a regular weekly delivery slot. Healthy young family but we’re using ours for my MIL who’s in the most vulnerable category. Channel your negative, jealous energy elsewhere

Did you post that without the slightest sense of irony?

mrsed1987 · 03/04/2020 14:09

I booked 3 slots in a row just before it all went mad, i am staying up until midnight every wednesday night to get a slot for 3 weeks time.

We are a healthy couple in our 30s with a 14 month old however, i dont want to go out, We are sharing our slot with my parents who are high risk.

Coffeepot72 · 03/04/2020 14:12

I am neither elderly nor vulnerable, and Sainsbury’s are operating quite normally in my area? I have also seen Asda and Waitrose delivering to my neighbours, they are not elderly and to my knowledge are not vulnerable or self isolating.

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 03/04/2020 14:18

where are all of you living who are managing to get a delivery? In London there is nothing, absolutely zilch for three weeks with all main supermarkets?

Coffeepot72 · 03/04/2020 14:20

East Midlands

FullOfCake · 03/04/2020 14:20

I have three lined up at 6 days, 7 days and 7 days apart in two a weeks time for fruit/veg and nappies. We've just had a a 15 day stint of no deliveries and had to go out to a local shop for fresh stuff. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo. DH is a keyworker albeit mostly able to work from home but not help with kids in the day. I have asthma. I am not a vulnerable person, but I am managing to get the slots to avoid going out when I can. I am also adding bits for neighbours.
