Sainsburys delivery - neighbour getting them every week

How? Healthy family with two children. They have a mid week delivery pass, we have it too - for years! I never managed to find a slot! She said they have deliveries booked for the next 4 weeks! I admit I’m jealous, but I’d really like to know !!

OP posts:

DH is a driving instructor and hasn't been working. He's had people phoning him up asking if he's still giving lessons, pretending to be potential new customers. No doubt eager to report him if he said he was. I feel so sorry for them when he pisses on their chips. Not.

Coffeepot72 · 03/04/2020 14:27

I just checked Sainsbury’s again, they have delivery slots for the next 10 days. OP - do you live on the moon? 😜

QuimReaper · 03/04/2020 14:27

Is it Asda?

Good grief Grin

LonelyFromCorona · 03/04/2020 14:31

@user556677 just get in your car down to aldi like the rest of us plebs and stop complaining

WelshMoth · 03/04/2020 14:32

@Coffeepot72 whereabouts are you?
I'm in Swansea and can see nothing with them.

That said, I only registered this morning to try and get a delivery to my MIL.

I wonder if it's worth calling them? Does anyone know?

TheStarryNight · 03/04/2020 14:37

Logged into Sainsburys today on the off chance.

They had slots pretty much all day Wed/Thu/Fri next week.

I did read they’ve increased their capacity to 600,000 slots from 370,000 slots and have registered 450,000 households as vulnerable.

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/04/2020 14:42

I’m really struggling to get deliveries atm. I soooo wish I shopped with Sainsburys by the look of it. I’m disabled. I have dh. But he is needed to do a lot of stuff for me... I’ve managed to get Tesco slots mostly because I booked them some time ago and the last one through sheer persistence. We have slots for the next couple of weeks. Will have to try and get more.

AppleKatie · 03/04/2020 14:43

Sainsburys is hit and miss atm. I had a slot earlier this week and managed to book one for next week already. My neighbour can’t book a slot and her delivery slot is blocked.

I think it’s luck of the draw. Not a lot you can do about it though OP except keep looking!

Dixiechickonhols · 03/04/2020 14:45

My neighbours have no idea I'm vulnerable. I look healthy, 40s, was always out walking before this. My scars are feint. I have a rare respiratory condition.
I had an airway reconstruction (made me a new bit of airway out of my rib and thigh), two prevous tracheostomys and pneumonia twice. My Consultant has written to say whilst I'm at no more risk of catching it if I did the likehood is i'll suffer serious complications compounded by fact they can't intubate me to ventilate due to my damaged airway. So yes I had an Asda delivery today.
Don't judge. No one has any idea of anyones circumstances. Be kind.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 03/04/2020 14:46

I've got 4 weeks of Asda ones
, it is from when they let you book a month in advance, now its only 1 week ahead.

delilahbucket · 03/04/2020 14:49

I got one last week and have one this week. Sainsbury's sent an email to say that slots were available for delivery pass customers and continued to release a steady stream of them over a 24 hour period. I got mine for tomorrow at 7:30am on Wednesday. You just have to check. You can only book them for the current week though.
Ps. Not all illnesses are visible so rove your judgey pants. Your neighbour may have someone vunerable.

PickleSarnie · 03/04/2020 14:52

FFS. I’m part of a ‘healthy family with two children’ and I am getting a weekly Ocado order - I get sent a message saying they are releasing slots, I logon and I get them. I’m fairly sure my neighbours won’t be twitching their curtains and judging me for doing a grocery shop. I’m sure there are more delivery slots than registered vulnerable users.

PotholeParadise · 03/04/2020 14:52

How?

Witchcraft. Burn the witch!

openova · 03/04/2020 14:55

@PotholeParadise I can confirm, I am a witch and this is how I am booking my delivery slots.

Mascotte · 03/04/2020 14:55

Could you ask her to add stuff for you?

Mascotte · 03/04/2020 14:58

And @Dixiechickonhols that surgery sounds pretty clever stuff.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 03/04/2020 15:14

This coronavirus thing has really brought out the Mrs Mangel's of the neighbourhood, hasn't it?!

Careful OP, your jealousy and bitterness is showing.
You don't know all her circumstances but I bet you feel like you do.

Idontmattertoher · 03/04/2020 15:16

I have a weekly delivery as I booked a recurring slot. The 1st 2 weeks I couldn't even get essentials delivered. I'm struggling badly and running out of food for the last 2 weeks before the delivery is due. I have no one to help as my personal assistants are all off again. You can have my slots in exchange for the ability to cook, prepare meals etc. You'd soon be fed up of going between eating cereal and being very hungry. But, feel free to bitch...

Bringringbring12 · 03/04/2020 15:18

How? How the heck do you know that’s what they’re doing?!

PickAChew · 03/04/2020 15:21

Sainsburys never release slots more than 3 weeks in advance.

iklboo · 03/04/2020 15:22

@Bringringbring12 - it's the way they're asking the questions. Totally different to the usual ones. Like:

'Hi. I've seen you're a driving instructor. Are you working at the moment?'

Every other call before was 'Hi. I'm enquiring about driving lessons. How much do you charge'.

Dixiechickonhols · 03/04/2020 15:22

Mascotte Yes team at Charing Cross Hospital in London developed the airway reconstruction surgery, first in world to do it and I was fortunate to have it on NHS. Changed my life. I keep thinking about all the wonderful staff there as no doubt they are in the thick of it. Really taught me you have no idea what anyone else is going through. I sometimes post on why they are using lift threads as I had more chance of climbling everest that walking up a flight of stairs pre surgery yet looked fine and could walk on flat.

Joliany · 03/04/2020 15:22

Maybe they have an underlying condition that they don't want to share with their nosey neighbors, who are nosing on their deliveries.

Nat6999 · 03/04/2020 15:28

Neighbours here will have been curtain twitching this week, Monday we had a Sainsburys delivery, Tuesday Morrison's. My mum got Sainsburys as she is 81 & classed as vulnerable, I got Morrison's slot 3 weeks ago. Good job as Sainsburys didn't have any milk, Bread or butter.

SweetpeaMidnight · 03/04/2020 15:30

I booked up until the 17th april before everyone started booking them. They've reduced the slots to the next two weeks ahead whereas it used to be 3 wks ahead (with tesco anyway)
