Sainsburys delivery - neighbour getting them every week

How? Healthy family with two children. They have a mid week delivery pass, we have it too - for years! I never managed to find a slot! She said they have deliveries booked for the next 4 weeks! I admit I’m jealous, but I’d really like to know !!

OP posts:
EatingIsMyHobby · 04/04/2020 18:10

Some people are just jammy! My friend is one of those types of people; she'll always manage to get a car parking space somewhere busy instantly when others are waiting for ages for a space. And yep, despite having no underlying conditions she has been managing to get delivery slots for food each week.

pickingdaisies · 04/04/2020 18:13

Chilling, really? The OP has said nothing negative about her neighbour. At all. She would just like a delivery slot since she's paying for it every week.

MorganKitten · 04/04/2020 18:14

Jealousy isn’t healthy, you don’t know what’s reallly going on.

Molly499 · 04/04/2020 18:25

Why is the OP getting such a hard time? If you regularly have online shopping and pay for a delivery pass you should be able to get a delivery, these delivery passes are expensive. Sainsbury’s are saying one delivery per week which is fair enough, my pass that I pay for is a daily delivery and there is no refund for the restriction. I have in the past had 2/3 deliveries in a week, sometimes to an elderly relative.

Try staying up late and logging in during the night, I find the app better than the website. I had an email saying slots were available the other day at 03:10!

BlokeTarget · 04/04/2020 18:55

Oh my god. You poor thing!

Why on earth should she be entitled to a delivery when you can’t get one? Awful woman.

You SO deserve one more than her. I don’t know her, or you but your needs sound much greater than hers. The witch.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 04/04/2020 19:16

PMSL at Stasi knocking on the door!

Isithometimeyet0987 · 04/04/2020 22:59

I’m on the vulnerable list op but no one apart from my family would know as I was born with a heart problem and I have asthma. Neither effect me enough to stop me leading a normal life but could be fatal if I caught coronavirus. She didn’t need to justify why or how she’s getting an online order to you just as I don’t have to justify it to my neighbours. So I would suggest you mind your own business op.

ReceptacleForTheRespectable · 04/04/2020 23:04

Why is the OP getting such a hard time?

Her post isn't so much about her own delivery concerns, but about her curtain-twitching disapproval of the fact that her neighbour got a delivery, and her judgemental attitude as to whether said neighbour 'deserved' it.

SharonasCorona · 04/04/2020 23:28

I'm not sure why some Mumsnetters act like jealousy is a crime. It's a perfectly natural human emotion. We can't all be selfless beacons of positivity 24/7.

Totally agree @NameChangedToProtect1 . OP is envious of her neighbour's deliveries and just wants in on the action, no harm in that! Lots of Perfect Pams on here.

Lottle · 04/04/2020 23:31

I can get them too. Because I have a delivery pass which I subscribed to ages ago. A monthly or annual thing. They prioritise the vulnerable. Then delivery pass customers. Not saying that it is fair, but pretty sure that's the reason

Dozer · 05/04/2020 00:05

Asda delivery slots popped up for a new day at 10pm and immediately unavailable.

Same for Sainsburys at midnight for click and collect.

Fespital · 05/04/2020 00:06

I have a delivery pass and am getting a weekly delivery slot. I check a couple of times a day and there they are. No mystery. They're prioritising vulnerable people and any leftover slots are going to delivery pass customers next (CEO told me so it must be true!) If you can't get one just keep checking through out the day.

Dozer · 05/04/2020 00:07

Sainsburys say prioritising the elderly and “extremely vulnerable”. Not enough to be “just”, “vulnerable”, disabled and in late 60s Sad

Dozer · 05/04/2020 00:08

Checking 5 supermarkets, 100s of times a day. Finding it hard MH wise.

teainthetardis · 05/04/2020 00:41

@Dozer sorry to hear that - have you called them?

I am disabled and have health issues but not very vulnerable. DH has asthma. They said we both qualified for priority.

WidowTwonky · 05/04/2020 00:48

Dozer - I’ve had luck with Morrisons by constantly refreshing around midday. It says no slots on the front page but if you go in, fill you trolley and keep hitting refresh you might get lucky. But agree it’s draining

Cotswolds10 · 05/04/2020 00:51

I have a friend on the next street to me, we shop at the same supermarket and have the same delivery pass. Every few days she gets an email saying they’ve just released new delivery slots. She has started letting me and other friends know as soon as it happens. We’ve compared notes. She will be seeing delivery spots where there are none on our accounts. She admits she, nor anyone in her household, is priority. We’ve all just put it down to a glitch in the system. Maybe they’ve inaccurately identified her as a priority. Lucky for her but no one else is upset about it. I just head to the shop in person. It’s not that big a deal?

ALongHardWinter · 05/04/2020 01:32

There really should be a section on Mumsnet called 'Obsessing about what my neighbours are doing during lockdown'. Never have I known so many people be so hung up on what their neighbours are up to!

RingtheBells · 05/04/2020 04:49

Just looked on Tesco and there are slots all day for 25th April, obviously this is area dependant

Dozer · 05/04/2020 07:36

Tesco was same at midnight and this morning in my parents’ location. Will try phoning the Sainsburys number.

Dozer · 05/04/2020 07:41

Cotswolds, sure, it’s “not that big a deal” to physically shop for most of us. DH and I can easily do that, so are doing so, not seeking deliveries or click and collect. The supermarkets websites ask people like us not to use slots.

Bigger deal if one or more people in a household are vulnerable. Especially if can’t physically get to large supermarkets so have to go to the nearest shops quite frequently.

My parents are elderly and living in the south east. My sister is driving from London to deliver a food parcel weekly. I would like to help but I am abroad. How would you best organise online shopping at the crazy time? I would love to do every other week , just so my sister wasn't carrying the full burden.

If you are wondering why I don't just ask my sister how to work it is because she is saying she doesn't mind but I bet she does.... she also is slow to change / use technology, she e we like probably just get on with it but driving 90 mins each way just feels like a massive burden.

Sorry I posted in here by mistake I wanted to start a new thread which I have now.

geojojo · 05/04/2020 09:45

My friend has them booked for the next fewweeks, some twice a week. She said she checks at midnight and gets slots that way. I tried that and still couldn't see any slots so not even bothering now. I'm able to go to the shops so not too bothered.
