Sainsburys delivery - neighbour getting them every week

How? Healthy family with two children. They have a mid week delivery pass, we have it too - for years! I never managed to find a slot! She said they have deliveries booked for the next 4 weeks! I admit I’m jealous, but I’d really like to know !!

It's time you stepped away from the window and got on with your life I'd say.

Tableclothing · 03/04/2020 13:04

Maybe she's identified you as a delivery-slot-coveting busybody and is deliberately winding you up.

megletthesecond · 03/04/2020 13:07

So? She might have a small fridge /freezer? There's only three of us and my fridge is only just about ok. I usually shop everyday so never had a problem before.

Thelnebriati · 03/04/2020 13:11

Stop net curtain twitching and find something useful to do.
You don't actually know anything about other peoples circumstances because, not surprisingly, they don't discuss the details of their lives with you. When you ask nosey questions they fob you off.

onemouseplace · 03/04/2020 13:12

I'm a delivery pass holder and just looked and I can book a slot pretty much any time up until next Friday at the moment?

RhymingRabbit3 · 03/04/2020 13:12

Is it Asda? I have a delivery pass and have a recurring slot at the same time each week, which I booked before all this began and which I'm still able to get. I'm isolating as much as possible because I have asthma and a newborn baby. We are also adding to our shopping for my husbands grandparents who are over 80 and one of which has serious lung conditions. I don't feel guilty about having the slot but I'm sure a lot of people think its "unfair" that I have one when they dont.

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 03/04/2020 13:13

Maybe she is spending the time you waste looking at her by actively looking for a slot to book Grin

Keep staring and judging, you are doing her a favour!

SnowStag · 03/04/2020 13:14

I did a 'test' delivery last week because I and one DS are both vulnerable. I pootled around the site Friday night and got a delivery for Sunday morning.

It was pure happenstance.

We have enough now for quite some time so I am not risking it again!

thecatsthecats · 03/04/2020 13:14

Disney Plus might help you fill the hours better OP.

NOTANUM · 03/04/2020 13:16

They may be key workers. My friend is a nurse and gets a priority pass for at least one supermarket so she's getting a delivery per week too.

I'm sure we both agree that's fair enough if that's the case!

Moomin8 · 03/04/2020 13:16

Oh fgs.

Greenscissors · 03/04/2020 13:17

I've had a delivery today and have just booked one for next week (delivery pass) - that's to supply us and two other households with elderly people.

The slots (for my location) seem to open up quite randomly and normally for the upcoming few days - it is not easy to book for over a week away.

Stet · 03/04/2020 13:17

I booked our Tesco shop for four-ish weeks in advance just before this all kicked off and then managed to snag a recurring ASDA slot for when those run out. We have two more weeks of Tesco shops. Here, Asda have been adding slots early in the morning. Sometimes when I get up with DD at 6ish I check out of interest and there are often slots available then but gone later in the day.

Femail · 03/04/2020 13:18

I get one every week and have done for years. I have a reoccurring spot every week and keeping it

dottiedodah · 03/04/2020 13:18

This pandemic seems to be bringing out the worse in us. Another post saying how her Neighbours children are in School, when the parents are at home. How is anything to do with you ,maybe she has a health condition she hasnt disclosed ,has benn shopping with them like forever and a day ,or has just been lucky! Either way not your problem

SamsMumsCateracts · 03/04/2020 13:19

We are still getting deliveries, my child is on the extremely vulnerable list, not that anyone would know that. He has a neurological condition that causes him to pick up infections easily due to complications with it, yet he seems like any other child; no difference in appearance, no difference in energy levels etc etc, yet he takes meds that suppress his immune system. The vast majority of our family don't even know and would never be able to guess.

I'm expect that your neighbour has someone in the house with an invisible condition on the vulnerable list.

Stop being so jealous, yes they're getting deliveries, but probably living with health problems. Think yourself lucky that you're healthy enough not to be deemed vulnerable.

REdReDRE · 03/04/2020 13:19

I've managed to get a delivery or click and collect weekly with Tesco - firstly by booking when I was still able and more recently by staying up until midnight and booking a click and collect. I am a Tesco pass holder but they've stopped taking payments for that st the moment (though I'd happily keep paying as still getting slots). We are not vulnerable (though getting out shopping is a challenge) but are ordering things for various neighbours and friends on each order.

AnneOfCloves · 03/04/2020 13:20

With an annual pass you get slots not available to new customers.

(Guess which moron cancelled her annual pass renewal just before this thing hit, sob sob)

NameChangedToProtect1 · 03/04/2020 13:20

Wow its the sainsbury's equivalent of "Dial M for Murder"! With so many curtain twitchers on how long will it be before they start commenting on each others snoopy skills... "I can spot Mrs G spying on us from her window when I use my thermal camera"!

Sandsnake · 03/04/2020 13:22

Me too. Well, last week and this week. I have a full delivery pass but had accepted I wouldn’t be able to use it. Got an email to say there were some slots available and managed to get one. No idea how! Feel a bit guilty and if someone said I could give it up to someone vulnerable then I would, but if I didn’t take it up it would have gone to another delivery pass holder. We’re not registered as vulnerable (and aren’t) although DH is Type 1 diabetic and we have a newborn so have been socially distancing quite seriously for a few weeks now.

I imagine that I won’t in the future as Sainsbury’s identify more vulnerable people, which is totally fine and how it should be.

phivephatphish · 03/04/2020 13:23

I get weekly emails telling me I’m a priority customer and every time I log on there are loads of slots available. I’ve no idea why, but it’s certainly helpful. Last week I did a delivery shop for us, NDN (self isolating), DM (self isolating) and another neighbour.

Dozer · 03/04/2020 13:23

She may know what time slots are released.

JollyGiraffe12 · 03/04/2020 13:23

You could ask her to add a few things you need on to her order and transfer her the money if you are on good terms otherwise just be pleased for her - it’s one less family in the supermarket anyway

flumposie · 03/04/2020 13:24

I've been having Tesco delivery every Monday evening for the last 10 years or more. Know most of the drivers and they know my daughter's favourite food !I've managed to keep slots for the next 3 weeks by staying up until midnight . I'm a single parent and key worker so feel no wrong in what I'm doing. At some point my luck will run out.
