For the first time in a while, DH and I decided to have a movie night. We saw Hereditary pop up in a few "worth watching" lists.

possible spoilers

Wow is that over 2 hours we will never get back! I was so excited at the start, ticked all the right boxes. It honestly had so much potential, but as time went on the movie still wasn't picking up the pace and I was wondering how they would wrap it up with not much time spare. The ending felt quite rushed, and left me feeling disappointed. I wasn't quite sure why the people had to naked towards the end aswell?!

Please share the worst movie you have endured, so I can double check when I next recommend a movie Grin

A bit of a cheat because it’s a real stinker from the off not one where you end up disappointed but The Next Best Thing. Just awful, no redeeming features whatsoever.

I agree with The Favourite. I was so keen to see it and in the end I didn’t even finish it, a bore.

I love the quirky humour of The Royal Tenenbaums but can see why someone wouldn’t like it. I also thought Philip Seymour Hoffman was extraordinary in Love Liza, but it’s a tough watch definitely.

StealthPolarBear · 03/04/2020 20:18

The total tenenbaums was dull. I didn't get the humour, it just moved from dull backstory to dull backstory.

FlapAttack23 · 03/04/2020 20:23

Splice .... just watch it

CigarsofthePharoahs · 03/04/2020 20:25

Birdemic. Hands down THE worst. So bad it's...bad.
Miami Connection - about thirty seconds of the film are actually in Miami.
Manos - The Hand of Fate

Onemorefuck · 03/04/2020 20:38

*‘It Comes At Night’.

Spoiler - nothing comes at night, or any other time of day*
Completely fair assessment, I would say Grin

Agree with all the comments about Hereditary.
So many poor films on Netflix
The Girl on the 3rd Floor - it just made no sense. Hammy.
Wounds - I rewound the last 20 mins cos I thought I had missed something. Missed nothing. It was just a poor film
Truth or Dare - like a weird dark web type film. Crap.
Fractured - worked out the twist quite early on. Lazy filmmaking.

Pinkarsedfly · 03/04/2020 20:46

Blinded By The Light.

I was cringing so hard I practically had to be levered off the cinema seat.

Duchessofblandings · 03/04/2020 20:48

Last of the Mohicans, dire
Highlander, even more dire

MeOldBamboo · 03/04/2020 20:50

Stop or My Mom Will Shoot. First time I’ve ever walked out of the cinema. Only ever done this three times. That, Carry on Columbus and The Waterboy. Jeez.

user1497787065 · 03/04/2020 21:14

Love Actually and Mamma Mia

SixyearoldSicknote · 03/04/2020 21:42

Inception

Went to see it at the cinema on a date night, after having dinner and a glass of wine. Still have absolutely no idea what it was about.

TheSandman · 03/04/2020 23:06

The Libertine with Johnny Depp was just bizzare.

Nothing wrong with bizarre. I quite liked it but I was expecting something a bit outré. If people had gone expecting some Pirates of the Caribbean type romp I can imagine why they didn't like it.

Tonight - only semi prompted by this thread - I scraped the bottom of my DVD collection and watched Empire of Ash - a seriously dreadful American post-apocalyptic effort that spent:

80% of its running time filling the screen with people firing semi-automatic weapons at each other in a quarry (which was pretending to be several different places).

10% of its time showing us hairy leather-clad biker types riding around in trucks shouting "Get the mother f*8kers!" at each other,

5% of its time in close ups of 'actors' muffling ump their lnes an mbbling guff tht th wrtrs tht ws a plot. (The main bad guy was brilliant. You could barely understand him when he was on screen and could see his lips sort of moving a bit. When he was delivering dialogue off camera he was incomprehensible!)

And finally the film spent 5% of its time getting the two Victoria's Secrets models that hung around in this quarry for no apparent reason to get their tits out. Hint to future movie makers of the world. You cannot make a nude bathing scene interesting (or even credible) if you have only 6 inches of water in a rocky stream to play with. Can't be done.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 04/04/2020 06:27

Bridget Jones baby. Hideous cringe fest from start to finish.

It's all about love....I picked up the box to rent it and just thought "Claire Danes, Joaquin Phoenix, this will be alright". It was boring crap.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 04/04/2020 06:28

Sixyearoldsicknote
I loved inception!

SilentBob · 04/04/2020 06:48

Sausage party

Ferfooksek · 04/04/2020 07:29

Titanic
Frozen
Wonder Woman
Military Wives

All shite

Barnowl25 · 04/04/2020 07:33

@TheSandman I am going to check that movie out as it sounds awesome I do love a good bad movie. There is a great one (cant remember the name but it's about resurrected pre historic sharks) where all the water scenes are done in about a foot of water so when they are supposed to be out at sea and fallen overboard you can see their hands touching the bottom of the tank as they pretend to swim - it is brilliant in its badness.

TheSandman · 04/04/2020 09:27

@Barnowl25 I was (slightly) wrong! What I watched last night turns out to be Empire of Ash 3. It was renamed by the dodgy 23rd century 'distributors' as 'Empire of Ash' on the DVD. There was no Empire of Ash apparently (in Europe at least). The first one was called Empire of Ash 2 as part of some weird marketing gimmick making what I watched last night a threquel to a film that never actually existed.

Barnowl25 · 04/04/2020 12:25

@TheSandMan it gets better all the time!

MysticWytche · 04/04/2020 13:56

Eyes Wide Shut. Pretentious twaddle.

Insomnia. Watching Al Pacino freaking out over a sliver of light through his hotel room curtains is NOT entertaining.

Sure I'll think of more

clareOclareO · 04/04/2020 13:58

Anything by Disney - all are atrocious.

Egghead68 · 04/04/2020 13:59

Matrix 2 & 3

Waterworld (or something like that)

SharonasCorona · 04/04/2020 14:01

Some movies that I didn’t even attempt to watch coz trailers looked dull:

Grosse Point Blank (John Cusack)
Elizabethtown (Orlando Bloom)

Finallygotausername · 04/04/2020 14:06

What Men Want. Awful, awful acting. And absolute drivel.

Silentplikebath · 04/04/2020 14:16

The Pokemon movie - I couldn’t even walk out of the cinema as it was my DDs birthday treat that year!

Penners99 · 04/04/2020 14:18

Iron Skies, dear god......
