For the first time in a while, DH and I decided to have a movie night. We saw Hereditary pop up in a few "worth watching" lists.

possible spoilers

Wow is that over 2 hours we will never get back! I was so excited at the start, ticked all the right boxes. It honestly had so much potential, but as time went on the movie still wasn't picking up the pace and I was wondering how they would wrap it up with not much time spare. The ending felt quite rushed, and left me feeling disappointed. I wasn't quite sure why the people had to naked towards the end aswell?!

Please share the worst movie you have endured, so I can double check when I next recommend a movie Grin

Triple Frontier. Omg. So boring. Epic cast couldn't save that one. Also not a film, but the recent BBC adaptation of War Of the Worlds which I love in general but that was sleep inducing.

Holothane · 03/04/2020 13:33

The Joker bored me to tears, from hell I love it but then I’m medical history mad any way.
Ted hated it don’t get pulp fiction boring as hell.
Rom comedy’s don’t get them either.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/04/2020 13:34

Worst 3 in recent years

The Shape Of Water - Emperors New Clothes

Roma - mind numbingly boring

Walking On Sunshine - trying to be Mamma Mia, absolute abomination

WeirdAndPissedOff · 03/04/2020 13:39

Agree re The Village!
Open Water - advertised as "jaws meets the Blair witch project". What they meant was that there might be a shark/jellyfish, or it might just be a couple having a two hour long argument in the middle of the ocean.
Excision - one of two films I regret watching, it was terrible! (And not in the "so terrible its funny/enjoyable sense.)
Human centipede - in all fairness, it does exactly what it says on the tin!

And any arty Oscar bait romance film, but that's personal preference. (One has cancer, the other a terminal illness, but they'll have an hour to fall in love before one dies tragically!)

PuppyMonkey · 03/04/2020 13:45

Lots of these are terrible. But the Cameron Diaz/Drew Barrymore version of Charlie’s Angels is hands down the worst thing I’ve ever had the misfortune to watch.

NeutralJanet · 03/04/2020 13:53

Saving Private Ryan - I really didn't care if they saved him or not

Same. I also found The Martian incredibly boring and fell asleep before I found out if he got saved or not. Maybe I just don't like Matt Damon.

iklboo · 03/04/2020 14:03

Mandy with Nic Cage. Oh my days. Even as Nic Cage films usually go this is a steaming great turd of a film.

MoonlightBringsSanity · 03/04/2020 14:05

Sharknado

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 03/04/2020 14:09

Mr Right. We tried to get into it but gave up after 15 minutes or so.

Any of the Hangover films. One my family swears by is hilarious is The Brothers Grimsby. But it's just not funny Hmm

AwkwardPaws27 · 03/04/2020 14:10

Zombie Driftwood
Troll 2

AgeLikeWine · 03/04/2020 14:12

Star Wars : The Phantom Menace.

The only film I have ever paid to watch them walked out of before the end. Just laughably awful. Not just a kids film, a crap kids film.

Hagbeth · 03/04/2020 14:13

After loads of recommendations here on Mumsnet- Luther and Hinterland! 😱😀 Luther was so unbelievable that I started laughing. Hinterland- the main actor who played the main character had zero charisma. Just so bad.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 03/04/2020 14:14

Oh wait Drag Me To Hell Grin Jesus, I paid to see that in a cinema!! Major fuckup of a film!!

I quite enjoyed the Ted Bundy film with Zac Efron. Also The Quiet Place is pretty good.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 03/04/2020 14:16

Omg I just remembered that super hero shower of shite, Green Hornet Grin

iklboo · 03/04/2020 14:19

Agree with Hereditary. Starts off ok-ish, went nowhere, utterly ridiculous ending. Like a runner was carrying two different scripts, dropped them and shuffled them back in any old order.

The Joker was amazing. Enjoyed Once Upon A Time In Hollywood too.

The Favourite was just...weird.

La La Land. Just awful.

JamieFraserskneewarmer · 03/04/2020 14:20

Fire Maidens from Outer Space - mind you, it is worth watching for the terrible interpretative dance section alone

Tdaadfb100 · 03/04/2020 14:22

Destination Wedding. I only watched it coz Keanu was in it, but it’s truly awful.

Interstellar, even my husband who is in to kind of stuff found it mind numbingly boring.

namechangetheworld · 03/04/2020 14:25

I loved Hereditary Blush

Surely The Room is the worst film ever made? Then you can watch The Disaster Artist afterwards, which is incredible.

namechangetheworld · 03/04/2020 14:28

Oh, or The Happening! Where the wind is making people commit suicide or some nonsense. Starring Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deshanel as the least realistic couple ever put to film.

vampirethriller · 03/04/2020 14:30

I watched "Zombie with a Shotgun" on Amazon last night. It doesn't get any worse than that.

MatildaTheCat · 03/04/2020 14:32

Invisible Man. Shite and it cost £15.99.

vampirethriller · 03/04/2020 14:33

And Mamma Mia. I actually felt insulted that I was expected to enjoy it.

georgialondon · 03/04/2020 14:36

Dude where's my car.
