No Daily Mail, the young Royals did not lead the clapping last night

They took part.
Just like every other citizen of the UK did
They did not start it.

I know, I know, bigger things to think about and all.

But it has raised the Republican in me to see headlines saying "The clapping was led by the Royal cuties"

We were all part of it. It just started on our street.

Also that photo was taken in the day. Not 8pm.

GenxfeellikeaBoomer · 27/03/2020 07:19

Yeh, a distinction a monarchist wouldnt notice but what you say is true.

I think this all the time reading articles though. No she didnt showcase her legs. She wore a dress. Etc

Corna · 27/03/2020 07:20

Yes but anytime the royals do anything it has to be reported on as fawningly as possible.

GenxfeellikeaBoomer · 27/03/2020 07:21

Ps tangent but we did it in ireland for the hse. Nice to see collective gratitude. No nonsense considerations like 'we cant do the exact same'.

I was looking at Fox news last night and they didn't even mention the rest of the country.

They just said the young Royals did a round of applause

Nice to get one’s lefty moaning in early in the day...

DesdemonaDryEyes · 27/03/2020 07:25

Fox News.

There’s an oxymoron.

Oh, hello. Long time no hear.

Do you think they led the applause at 8pm?

Presumably they had to get it done before bath and bedtime.

NcFortuna · 27/03/2020 07:30

Actually it was me that led the clapping because I started by accident at 19:53.

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 07:30

I really couldn’t care less. But I do find partisan moaning about a nice gesture of solidarity by young children to be deeply unpleasant.

The gesture is lovely. It's the reporting and the headline and the sycophancy by the media that's disturbing.

I wonder whether they will be using the NHS (trapesing into germ filled hospitals to be treated by nurses who may be infected but can't get tests) if they get sick?

Obvs that was rhetorical, I don't wonder, I know they won't.

Ponoka7 · 27/03/2020 07:39

Other News outlets described them as 'joining in'.

I think it's a given that the DMs headlines are works of fiction.

Some people will have liked seeing the youngest Royals and they've a right to.

Ponoka7 · 27/03/2020 07:41

"I wonder whether they will be using the NHS (trapesing into germ filled hospitals to be treated by nurses who may be infected but can't get tests) if they get sick?"

Like most, if not all multi millionaires they won't be and quite rightly. Or should a ward be closed off for security etc?

Now the complaints are getting stupid.

Dyrne · 27/03/2020 07:42

To be honest I was more filled with rage seeing Boris do it.

After all his party has done to systematically destroy the NHS, he now has the stone cold testicles to go out and clap. No, fuck off. Pay them more. Give them the resources they need. Clapping does fuck all.

derxa · 27/03/2020 07:45

Oh FFS

ThanosSavedMe · 27/03/2020 07:45

Agreed, Boris really pissed me off. Then his comment, “is that it?”

chomalungma · 27/03/2020 07:47

Which they did and that's great - and yes, some people will have liked seeing them join in in solidarity.

Honestly, does it really matter? It’s just a daft daily fail headline. Likely intended to more have a dig at Meghan and Harry than anything else.

ikely intended to more have a dig at Meghan and Harry than anything else

I am sure that if Meghan and Harry had joined in, there would have been negative headlines in the DM

One of the news channels that Ds was watching interviewed a chap in the UK who said it was great, they sat out in the sun and clapped for the NHS. I suspect he was not telling the full truth.
