No Daily Mail, the young Royals did not lead the clapping last night

They took part.
Just like every other citizen of the UK did
They did not start it.

I know, I know, bigger things to think about and all.

But it has raised the Republican in me to see headlines saying "The clapping was led by the Royal cuties"

We were all part of it. It just started on our street.

Only on MN could so many people dislike these 3 small children, who by the way have didn't edit the DM. I hope so much bile is never aimed at your children. God help the future generations of this country, they are being raised by vile nasty mothers, what hope is there for them when their own mothers show such dislike towards other children

Brefugee · 27/03/2020 08:57

Where are you seeing that on this thread? OP is VERY clear as are others that it is about the headlines.

Peregrina · 27/03/2020 08:59

No one dislikes small children, but personally I am more interested in what my own grandchildren get up to, rather than hearing the trivia about the royal children's lives. To me, my own are far more cute and entertaining than other people's. Others don't agree, they think their grandchildren are the best.

Samcro · 27/03/2020 09:00

ahh the royals that fled to their second home.

HappydaysArehere · 27/03/2020 09:01

Do you know when I saw that clip I saw three smashing little kids enjoying themselves. It made me smile and anything that does that at the moment I applaud. Then I come on here to read these posts and I just feel fed up. The press say the most eye catching things. The children were probably told that everyone would be clapping all the kind wonderful people who work to make people better so it would be nice if they joined in. Actually as it was earlier in the day they probably did lead the clapping. Morale needs to be kept up so keep your kicking for those in government who didn't have the foresight to stock up and deliver essential items to the front line. You lot have spoilt my morning,

dottiedodah · 27/03/2020 09:01

I thought it was quite sweet ,and probably would encourage other small children to clap as well .We were out on our doorstep along with everyone else and even the dog joined in with a few well timed barks!

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 09:02

What a shame you’re being compelled to read coverage of the royal children by force of law then.

Oh, wait a minute - you’re not!

derxa · 27/03/2020 09:03

Charles has it, reportedly, and as I understand it, there's no rich/poor divide with this. Everyone's chances are 50/50. This

lmcneil003 · 27/03/2020 09:04

Only in your dreams. Look at the polling - a republican socialist state is a million miles away.

Wait until Charles is king. He will not be popular like the queen...

TheWordmeister · 27/03/2020 09:04

It’s the reporting of it that was nauseating, not the gesture.

I’m sure royal fans will have enjoyed seeing those children. 🤷‍♀️

They will get the best medical treatment, and be front of the queue for a ventilator, ahead of everyone, including single mothers of young children. That's disgusting..

chomalungma · 27/03/2020 09:11

Once again:

The gesture was lovely. It's a nice video with some cute kids.
No problem with the video as well

The reporting:

Words matter. Media words matter - the Royals did not lead the clapping. They joined in as did many other people. It's a subtle but distinct difference.

OP posts:
OlaEliza · 27/03/2020 09:13

Being ahead of the queue won't really make much difference, apparently.

fiddlethefiddles · 27/03/2020 09:18

There is a divide with this, Charles may have the same virus as many other people but let's not pretend that the health care he will be getting is the same as Joe Public.

Peregrina · 27/03/2020 09:18

And indeed I don't bother. Nowhere did I say that I did!
MIL used to be an ardent Royalist, but she didn't like the way they treated Princess Diana, so she no longer is.

Agree. There are some seriously nasty people on MN.

Brefugee · 27/03/2020 09:29

Having it and dying of it are two different things. Even getting tested seems to be a preserve of the rich. A woman in London presented with horrifying symptoms and hit all the markers - but nope. No test for you. As a result (she may have died but she never even got the chance to see if she would survive with treatment) 3 children are now living with a single dad.

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 27/03/2020 09:33

Unless they are going to provide some genuine help, the royals really should keep a very low profile.

They were the first to run to their country palace house leading the way to everybody else who could. The plebs is told it's the wrong thing to do, but the royals, their staff and entourage? Prince Charles has been diagnosed, so they are not immune either - and will spread just as anyone else.

There's nothing wrong with the 3 children, bless them, there are in the middle of things just as much as any other child. They just happen to be lucky. However, they are not special or of any more importance than any other children either.

Pretending the kids clapping during the day has anything to do with the rest of the country is distasteful. Unless they are in a different time zone, they could just as well join in live and be shown on the royal social media for anyone who cares about that sort of thing.
At a different time because they are "special" is just ridiculous.

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 09:34

MIL used to be an ardent Royalist, but she didn't like the way they treated Princess Diana, so she no longer is.

I’m like that too, just with Richard III... Wink

fiddlethefiddles · 27/03/2020 09:34

Brefugee Are you saying that she wasn't given any treatment for it because she hadn't been tested? Surely they are treating people who are showing the symptoms?

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 27/03/2020 09:35

re Boris After all his party has done to systematically destroy the NHS, he now has the stone cold testicles

Not something I'd choose to think about, but I don't think Boris lets his testicles get cold.

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 09:35

However, they are not special or of any more importance than any other children either.

Well, they are the direct heirs of 50 generations of kings, but apart from that...

PurpleBlueAnemone · 27/03/2020 09:36

YANBU
I'm with those feeling nauseous about tory MPs clapping when they were trying to sell off the NHS five minutes ago.
I'm hoping the CV will re-educate them on many things not least the value of the NHS and it's staff.

GinDrinker00 · 27/03/2020 09:39

YANBU, they didn’t even do it at the correct time.
In fact instead of clapping I’m surprised none of these people have thought maybe the NHS staff deserve a pay rise after ten years of being severely under funded.

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 27/03/2020 09:39

CendrillonSings
so what? what does it mean? Absolutely nothing.

If nothing else, Brexit has proven that the royals haven't even got the so-called role of "uniting the country" they pretend they do.
They are not needed, they are a nice feature of the past and it's high time to get rid of them.

There are direct heirs of generations of kings all over Europe, they are mainly unknown by most and of no political or social value whatsoever either.

Tourism will benefit immensely when the state Properties and land will come back to the public.
