Please don't put a rainbow in your window!

For the past few years the rainbow has sadly becomea symbol of silencing, sexual stereotyping and oppression for a lot of women and those in the LGB community. If you're thinking of putting one up, please think about how that may make women feel - many of whom have already experienced death threats and lost their friends and jobs thanks to those who wield the rainbow flag as a weapon.

I just saw two on my walk just now and it made me feel like shit. Not the intended effect I'm sure. Please consider something else: the sun coming out from a cloud, or a simple landscape. Thanks.

What I’m a GC feminist but seriously, my toddler badly coloured in a rainbow because he loves them and he thought it was great to stick it in the window for other kids to see. We’re going for a walk this afternoon to see how many we can spot. It’s nothing to do with LGBT bollocks it’s just a rainbow. For children.

Well, perhaps now the raibow can start to be something pretty for children to draw and others to see.

Children think rainbows are just that: rather magically appearing at dark rainy times and full of colour.nAlso, they're fairly easy for even 2-3 year old to draw/paint.

What would you rather they drew? A minion?Covid itself? Joe Wicks star-jumping?

I'm not joining in for both the reason op stated and the religious symbolism - remember, if you disobey me again, I will wipe you all off the face of the earth. It's in really bad taste.

There’s a Facebook post going round asking people to stick rainbows in the windows so kids have something to spot when they’re walking around on their own. That’s why there are rainbows. Nothing to do with any type of politics statement, or LGBT etc.

I saw one this morning that my neighbour's kids have drawn and put up.

It made me grin from ear to ear, which I think was its intention....

Right now we need to see the good and kids drawing rainbows to make people smile isn't a bad thing.
