Please don't put a rainbow in your window!

For the past few years the rainbow has sadly becomea symbol of silencing, sexual stereotyping and oppression for a lot of women and those in the LGB community. If you're thinking of putting one up, please think about how that may make women feel - many of whom have already experienced death threats and lost their friends and jobs thanks to those who wield the rainbow flag as a weapon.

I just saw two on my walk just now and it made me feel like shit. Not the intended effect I'm sure. Please consider something else: the sun coming out from a cloud, or a simple landscape. Thanks.

Sorry OP you need to get a grip - this is so trivial and as many others have pointed out, a rainbow is natural event which no organisation or set of people can 'claim' as there own or claim that it represents any particular ideology or position.

Honestly OP, if the whole world is currently fighting off a deadly pandemic and all you can find to feel like shit about is a child's drawing of a rainbow, then take a good look at yourself. Absolute attention-seeking nonsense.

38 years old and drew a rainbow for our window yesterday. Looked across the road to my parents house and saw they had one in their window too that my 69 year old dad had drawn. I am scared for my family and the world as a whole at the minute, anything that can brighten someone's day especially a child in these strange times is a positive in my eyes

I think most people can see it was a child's symbol of hope long before it was used for political ends. I'm going back to that.

It's something i avoid for my own children on clothes anyway because the companies that really push on tshirts it are the same ones that have done away with female only spaces: M&S etc under pressure from the genderist lobby.
