I was in Costco yesterday - no loo rolls but people were buying loads of kitchen rolls! Everyone coming out of the store and in the queue inside had a large multipack of the stuff. If they are going to use it instead of loo roll there’s going to be a lot of blocked toilets!

ralfeesmum · 14/03/2020 10:34

Just to go off piste, I've noted that it's only convenience and frozen foods that are being panic bought.

Our two supermarkets are awash with fresh fruit and vegetables so unless someone is amazingly lazy or looks at a potato peeler and thinks "what is it? what does it do? is there an App for it?" then they'll be OK for rustling up and decent meal.

Just add effort!

FelicisNox · 14/03/2020 17:04

I'm with you @BumpyNugget.

Absolutely fuckery.

The worst things is the public ENJOY this idiotic behaviour. They absolutely revel in their war time daydreams.

It's pathetic.

@ Fluffybutter

Next time you're shopping, don't forget, you're completely out of a sense of humour ! :)

You'd best pick some up quick ! :)

P.S Not everyone lives their life on Facebook Shock

I have Crohns too ( or as it should be called Dalziels Disease). Perhaps we should get a note from the GP to hand to the supermarkets who have to keep a stock especially for those with IBS or other any issue that makes you go to the loo multiple times a day. Or do as I did backpacking in Asia etc, use water. Toilet paper is NOT essential really. You can make pasta too and bread. I bought flour and bread grains a couple of weeks ago, and 3-4 weeks ago I bought lots of tinned toms and tom puree etc. We have lots of grains too. I am due to have my gall bladder out soon and have to eat fat free so am a bit worried about finding suitable stuff other than fruit & veg as I am not sure what I can eat, anyone know???
We are a big household 6 + 2 at w/e often. When I get a £10 off voucher and I don't actually want much I buy things like loo roll, cat food washing powder etc. I rarely run out of anything. In our shops lot of fresh veg/fruit which is good for your system and keeps you healthy.

MummyMayo1988 · 14/03/2020 18:54

Also looking for mine.
I have 4 boys in the house. We go through around 5 rolls a week. I'm always a week ahead incase of upset tummies. I hsvent been able to get any from Asda for 2 weeks! I am starting to freak out!
Went into town today - visited 6 shops - NONE had loo roll. Also hand wash. I. Need. Handwash. I have 4 boys!

Fluffybutter · 14/03/2020 19:14

@nowayhose I just appreciate things that are actually funny.
Glad you took the time to inform me though as don’t think i would have coped otherwise

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 19:50

I go through that in a week on my own! And I'm a girl!!

GreenTulips · 14/03/2020 20:18

If schools shut, families will need twice the loo roll!!

MotherOfFrenchies · 14/03/2020 20:39

Wee tip for you all, if you choose an early delivery slot the online shoppers start picking from 4am - our place actually had some of us starting at 3 this morning, it’s busier than Christmas!! The toilet roll aisle was actually full this morning at 4 am, but by the time I finished at 9 they’d all gone.

Beebie2 · 14/03/2020 20:46

There’s bog roll in Morrisons. They’ve limited how many you can buy, and it seems to have had a good impact.

People can’t continue panic buying (surely?) hopefully even if the virus rages on, there’ll be a limit to the number of loo rolls people can stockpile. 82 would last for bloody months!! So unbelievably selfish - @JustMarriedBecca, perhaps start buying things that aren’t going to negatively impact on others?

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 20:51

Given the amount of posters who have mentioned not receiving toilet roll in their deliveries, I'm not surprised people are stocking up. It's not something you want to run out of.

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 20:53

I've ordered bog roll in my EIGHT DAYS TIME delivery, but apparently, it's not guaranteed I'll even get it! Any bog roll I can get my hands on, I'll be stocking up on.

PotholeParadise · 14/03/2020 21:00

Went into town today - visited 6 shops - NONE had loo roll. Also hand wash. I. Need. Handwash. I have 4 boys!

Buy bars of soap or decant shower gel into the empty bottles of handwash.

Beebie2 · 14/03/2020 21:04

But there’s only a shortage because people have ridiculous amounts like 82 rolls!! Supply isn’t compromised, there is a shortage purely because people are hoarding more loo roll than they need.

Surely you just need enough to get through the average amount of time you’d need to self isolate? I’m a family of 4. We use 5 per week max. So if we were bothering to panic buy, we’d maybe need 15 spare +5 for good luck? Worst case scenario we shower our backsides?

Pugwash2005 · 14/03/2020 21:54

Try local shops our pharmacy & village shops have plenty

nowayhose · 15/03/2020 11:57

@

Yep, I can prove that you DO have a sense of humour ! (It's just a bit strange Hmm )

Quotes from you this month............

''@cousinboneless oh be quiet.. trying to make it sound like no body should be worried and we’re “Pearl clutching”
I’m not worried for ME , I’m worried I could pass it on to someone who could die from it ,like my 71 year old dad, my mil with heart failure , my step dad also with serious heart issues ..
So while you scoff , maybe think of other people ? Couldn’t hurt to be a nice human being once in a while''

Fair enough, but also...........

''

nowayhose · 15/03/2020 11:59

Sorry, posted too soon !

''We went to a theme park today and while it was quieter than usual I was still surprised by how busy it was .
Then went and had a pub lunch and struggled to get a table .
No one seems bothered''

Yep, you DO have a sense of humour Hmm just a bloody strange one IMO. Confused

Prepenultimate · 15/03/2020 12:08

Got a pack of 9 loo rolls in my Ocado order this morning. Also tissues and bar soap. Didnt even try for handgel- not had that for weeks.
Only item not supplied was washing powder- though they did substitute Smash for my tinned potatoes. Smash!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Babybel90 · 15/03/2020 12:18

We’ve got 2 rolls left, I bought some reusable baby wipes (basically flannels with a price mark up) when DD was born and I had good intentions of never using baby wipes or disposable nappies (lasted about a week 🙄) so I guess we could use those if push comes to shove!

user1471590586 · 15/03/2020 12:24

All local supermarkets near me have none. A friend told me that people were queueing outside Asda at 5.30 in the morning and bought them all as soon as it opened.

copycopypaste · 15/03/2020 12:26

We were on our last roll yesterday, felt really self conscious when buying more.

Lalotai47 · 15/03/2020 12:34

We get ours on subscription from Who Gives A Crap so have quite a lot from the last delivery in 2019.

cricketmum84 · 15/03/2020 12:35

We have a 4 pack in the cupboard and then got a 12 pack yesterday as realised we may need more than 4 if we need to self isolate. Felt very self conscious buying them though. I just can't get my head round the people buying multiple big packs! Hope their loo roll forts keep them entertained.

Illbeagransoon · 15/03/2020 13:08

Our local Aldi was out of EGGS! Toilet roll, yes, hand sanitiser, yes, even soap, but EGGS? They don't even keep!
