I am not stockpiling. Tesco delivery came at 630pm but no bog roll as out of stock. We have half a roll left!! Who's got my rolls?!?

I was about to ask the same question as OP earlier but it turns out when I got in I left it on the side of the bath and accidentally knocked it in.

I was looking everywhere

TheHagOnTheHill · 12/03/2020 00:23

There is thankfully still gin and wine on the shelves. It also disappears off shelves in out house.
DD is unmoved by lack of pasta and tinned toms. She reckons we can eat potatoes and noodles as these seem plentiful and if we're isolated we will have time to cook fresh food.

AgentPrentiss · 12/03/2020 00:40

I’ve got 7 rolls left and the shops are absolutely desolate. We are on rations!

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 12/03/2020 01:19

Your loo roll is in France Grin I bought a pack of 32 rolls when they were on discount in January. It's a way to save a bit of money. We are rural and often get snowed in, so I get palpitations if I'm down to the last one, sorry.

I also have your paracetamol. DH brought me loads back from the U.K. in December. 30-40p in the U.K. for caplets compared to more than 2 euros here. Unfortunately I've taken most of them as I have chronic pain. Sorry about that too.

If you'd like to pop over to our pox-ridden country no one is panic buying where I am, apart from flour, possibly... those shelves are a bit empty. Either the French are worried the bakeries will be going into lockdown, or it's a hangover from Pancake Tuesday.

QueenOfPain · 12/03/2020 01:23

Asda delivery today, I only ordered four rolls but they were out of stock so they substituted for 9 rolls instead Grin

SelfIsolating · 12/03/2020 01:24

Asda substituted the 16 pack of loo rolls I ordered for a 9 pack and charged me the same price. I'm sure it's all they had to send, and I'm grateful, but I still feel a bit swindled HmmGrin

TeaAndDarkToast · 12/03/2020 01:56

I notice there has not been a run on Easter Eggs and the Sushi bar seems suspciously untouched.

OP - Waitrose are selling off Christmas patterned loo roll.

loubieloo4 · 12/03/2020 02:12

I wish people would stop bulk buying paracetamol, dh (39) has stage 4 terminal bowel cancer.

Thankfully we have loo rolls from our Costco run in February. But everywhere has sold out of paracetamol which he uses on a regular basis. We ran out over the weekend and haven't been able to buy any, so we have resorted to having to have it put on his prescription. Which will cost the NHS £££, thankfully we have my mum who gave us her last packet and our neighbour who also donated some.

I get the whole self preservation but geeze think about the other people in your local community who this is really affecting, we have enough shit to worry about (pun intended) without this. We gave up on hand sanitisers last week even though we usually use it on chemo weeks. Some people are just selfish.

Might have to take a 3 week break in the middle of nowhere soon....

TeaAndDarkToast · 12/03/2020 02:20

I emailed my food bank and asked them what supplies they needed and they replied tinned rice pud, potatoes, instant custard powder but if I go and buy a load to donate. Will the shop stop me for fear I am stockpiling. I suppose I could print off the email as proof.

These are people in need. I also feel for the homeless man who told me he has been living in a tent for 2 years and cant access hot food. All those flood victims too.

What exactly IS the UK Gov doing?

Snorkelface · 12/03/2020 02:23

I've stock-piled cheese, meringue nests and Malteser Bunnies today. I'm taking no chances.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/03/2020 02:25

I think my local Aldi has it, as well as full shelves they had extra trolleys out today, it was like a toilet roll extravaganza!

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/03/2020 02:27

@Feetupteashot did they offer you a suitable replacement, something like the sun newspaper?

earsup · 12/03/2020 02:31

The woman in my Aldi who bought 80 packs !!! It should have been stopped...friend took pictures of her surrounded by this huge pile..just waiting for the petrol panic buyers to start..!!

TeaAndDarkToast · 12/03/2020 02:43

petrol? ughhh

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/03/2020 02:46

@earsup probably a small shop owner planning to sell it on at a premium rate

Lllot5 · 12/03/2020 02:50

Stacks and stacks of it in morrisons on Tuesday. Literally piles higher than me. No tinned tuna though.

corvidsagainstcovid · 12/03/2020 03:05

We've got tonnes of the stuff, we subscribe to a bamboo toilet roll service with deliveries four x a year. Not stockpiling, it's our environmental strategy as we have the same for bamboo toothbrushes and toiletries as well as eco friendly cleaning materials refill services.

Torvean · 12/03/2020 03:22

I saw a woman with just a trolley full of loo roll and antiseptic wipes in Sainsbury yesterday. They let her but it all too.
The weird thing is it was not long before lunch and there was barely anybody there. It felt like everyone was walking as far away from other people as well too, it was strange.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/03/2020 03:31

@Lllot5 I stockpiled 4 tins of Tuna, a bag of pasta and a bottle of mayonnaise. My dog is however looking at me as though I should share it...

GinnyStrupac · 12/03/2020 03:46

Our little local usually well stocked village shop has sold out of loo roll, paracetamol, hand gel, hand wash and so on. Not to local people, buying their usual shopping, but to selfish strangers driving around adding to their stockpiles. When the shop realised what was happening they put restrictions on the number of things people could buy but unfortunately it was too late for the above items. Quite a few locals - elderly, disabled or on low rural incomes - don't drive, public transport is limited and they don't use the internet or spend enough to get a delivery, especially a free one - so they're stuffed.

TeaAndDarkToast · 12/03/2020 04:26

I fancy an easter egg

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/03/2020 04:33

Is there some kind of charity service where you can post a toilet roll to someone in need?

MrsPear · 12/03/2020 07:09

All you need is a jug and warm water which uk bathrooms tend to have - except in our last house but you could always take a bucket in with you - so why the panic?!

LakieLady · 12/03/2020 07:29

We have 15 rolls left out of a multipack of 15, bought about 3 weeks ago. One roll lasts us about 5 days, so I'm prepared to auction 10 of the rolls I have in my possession.

Best offer received by 5pm tonight wins, buyer must collect from Sussex.

KatherineJaneway · 12/03/2020 07:32

I have a food delivery due tomorrow with some toilet rolls on the order. Makes me think I should plan on a separate shop trip if they are not in stock.
