All this "be Kind" when I know they are not kind themselves

I'm feel the hypocrisy flooding my Facebook and social media with all this be kind posts, frames and hashtags #bekind I know most of these people can be total thoughtless bitches and yes you may ask why I'm connected to them and that's a good question- Circumstances, school mums, work.

I don't need to be preached at to be a nice person. I try my best to speak positively to people and be inclusive, friendly and polite ( it's how I was brought up and how I bring up my DS too.)

I know the idea behind "be kind" is a from a good place, but do you think posting it on social media will change people?

Exactly! My ex’s exw said some shitty things to me when we were together and now it’s all “be kind” and
“if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all” Oh the irony of that one!

I’ll be kind if the situation warrants it. I don’t need to be told to be kind - or if I do, it’s because I’ve actually said something mean (unlike someone on another thread who seems to believe that disagreement is unkind and therefore shouldn’t happen).

I’ve seen loads of this and totally agree. Especially the post a photo of you so all your friends can gush about how beautiful you are. Isn’t the point we’re meant to go into life doing our best to be good to our friends, not seeking validation on sm, which surely is part of the problem?

I've seen this loads. I'm struggling at the moment and the last person Id want to speak to are the ones posting this Be Kind stuff.

Yep I saw this today on a woman's profile who was completely horrible to me last year. I thought about writing "were you being kind when you were cheating on your husband the first two years you were together"?

I should just delete her but I'm waiting for the right amount of time so as not to seem petty 🙄

Totally agree. I’m in New York at the moment and all the ads are “Love life, be kind, drink Starbucks’ sort of thing. It’s nauseating. Especially when these massive corporates are not in the least bit kind.

On another note our hotel delivered us a letter to our room saying “We are delighted to announce that the spa is currently being renovated for your enjoyment” meaning “We are delighted to announce that we think you are too stupid to notice that it’s actually a negative for you that the spa is being renovated because in fact you won’t be able to use it and won’t be able to use it for several months but hey, sparkles and rainbows. Be kind !”

If you need to be reminded to be kind, you are the problem.

I've had a rant to my Mum about this today!
My Facebook is flooded with it! They will all have forgotten about it next week and be back to bitching and gossiping like normal.

I don't need to be told to be kind. I always try to be but being constantly told to be kind is making me feel very grump and unkind

Anybody who is not a very nice person and who doesn't treat other people with kindness normally is not going to suddenly see the error of their ways and turn over a new leaf because Janice changed her profile frame to Be Kind! Urgh!

IME there are three types of people that post it:

1. Struggling with their mental health and need support.
2. Virtue signally arseholes.
3. People who want you to be kind to them with no intention of being kind themselves.

May I suggest blocking persons 2 and 3?

People are oblivious to their own hypocrisy I’ve seen posts before now saying how lovely an old school friend was and how sad they had passed so young, yet this same personality n bullied them mercilessly at school. These same people are posting be nice memes on their Facebook now

I think I might have to throw my phone down the toilet or something to stop myself writing on social media for a while

I'm not in the UK so don't know how being a donor is arranged there. Here, you need to give permission beforehand (they are going to change this to an opt out system). My MIL keeps posting on facebook that everybody should opt in because her husband died while on the waiting list and it was horrible. She didn't opt in herself....
