Not so much an AIBU, posting here for traffic! I’ve got to the age of 36 due to various medical conditions, I’ve never been to an actual music concert. I went to watch my daughter at the Manchester arena the other night ( young voices) it was brilliant! I looked up a few people playing, and was quite surprised at the price of tickets. Out of interest who did you watch, where and how much were your tickets? Thank you ;)

I've been to many concerts over the years seeing a range of people including Kylie, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Olly Murs, Beyonce and Lady Gaga. They've varied in price but is say around the £50-£70 mark. The most expensive tickets I've ever bought are for Michael Buble at Harewood House in August with my Mum. We're both huge fans - those cost me £200.

CoolCarrie · 02/02/2020 19:58

Kate Bush, 5 years ago and it was over £400 for one ticket as there were only the VIP tickets left, and there was no way I was missing out on seeing her. The ticket was a Christmas and birthday gift from dh and ds.

DonnaDarko · 02/02/2020 20:01

The most expensive tickets I've every bought was £75+ each ( can't remember exactly) to see Madonna at Hyde Park.

I've been to so many gigs, I couldn't possibly list them all and the prices!

Dazedandconfused10 · 02/02/2020 20:02

The most...£185 in total over the years I would guess over £400 this year alone. It's what I do in my free time.

cheninblanc · 02/02/2020 20:07

£413. Vip meet and greet, front row, photos and a kiss from each of them. Excellent evening will never ever regret it I waited 25 years for it!!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 02/02/2020 20:12

I paid £80 to see AC/DC at Wembley Stadium, but most gigs I go to are around the £40. We saw Five finger death punch on Friday at Wembley arena and that was £45 each.

Floralnomad · 02/02/2020 20:19

We go to quite a few concerts , the most expensive ticket I’ve used was to see Cher at the O2 last year , VIP tickets so £350+ , I don’t know exactly as I didn’t buy them . I actually wasn’t keen on going as I’m not a fan but my dsis bought them and it was a fantastic show . The most expensive tickets I’ve bought were £150 ish each for George Michael and the same for Bruce Springsteen .

SellFridges · 02/02/2020 20:21

Individual ticket? About £100 the last couple of time’s at Take That. First Take That ticket was £16.50 in 1993. First Oasis gig was 1995 and cost £22 - went to Liam Gallagher last year and it was £50. I go to a lot of gigs - at least 5-10 big names a year.

Festivals are usually £200+ nowadays, but my first one was £54 including camping in 1997!

fruitbrewhaha · 02/02/2020 20:21

I go to lots of gigs. The big arenas are pricey, I think Pete Tong at the O2 was £70 each, as was Chemical bros, but I also saw 2 door cinema club there for less than £40.

Have a look for album launch gigs. They are arranged by independent record shops and tend to be in small intimate venues and for less than £20, include a cd. They are HOT tickets though so you have to be fast at buying them. Will be a short 1 hour gig instead of the a full tour set.

Incidentally I saw my daughter at young voices, I thought it was bloody dire. I liked the shires thought, fab boots.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 02/02/2020 20:22

Depending on which day you went, I was there with my class. And yes, it was amazing!

I've been to see Imagine Dragons at about £50 a ticket. And have Lana Del Rey tickets to take DD2 (15) to see in late feb for £75 each.

Serin · 02/02/2020 20:23

Floral, I would have loved to have seen George Michael.
Saw Bruce a few years ago for £35.
Most expensive I guess, were £150 each for Killers tickets.

BrownStripePJ · 02/02/2020 20:23

£250 per ticket to see guns n roses a couple years ago at Olympic park

("VIP" which was basically just the closest seats at the arena and a private ish bar)

Sound at the arena was terrible! Was much better when we paid 40 to see them in Nottingham about 12 years earlier!

fruitbrewhaha · 02/02/2020 20:25

Don't just look at big names OP. Support some up and coming artists. By lots of gigs I mean every week. I saw Georgia a couple of weeks back for £12 inc CD. She is listed by radio 1 as one to watch this year. You don't have to spend hundreds.

BrownStripePJ · 02/02/2020 20:25

One of the best gigs i went to was at a cafe in sheffield about £8 per peson i think

Average for us is probably £50

Floralnomad · 02/02/2020 20:27

I saw George Michael a few times , always excellent . Dsis has got us Killers tickets for London in June but I’ve no idea what she’s paid , we always get seats though because dd has CFS and can’t stand for very long .

PersonalClown · 02/02/2020 20:27

Sam Smith at the O2- £35 per ticket
Ed Sheeran at Wembley- £85 per ticket
MCR at Milton Keynes this year - £92 a ticket.

I won't go above £100 a ticket as it's usually 2-3 of us going.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 02/02/2020 20:29

VIP package for Rammstein at Milton Keynes, last summer. Cost £150 each bu they were the only tickets left.

Mascarponeandwine · 02/02/2020 20:29

Were you surprised at the prices as being higher than you thought, or lower?

Highest I’ve paid is £140 each (Madonna) and they were the cheap seats. Lowest is cover bands in our local small venue £7. And a whole range in between!

fruitbrewhaha · 02/02/2020 20:29

If you are near Leeds have a look at www.crashrecords.co.uk

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/02/2020 20:29

£270 on a resale site for a Harry Styles ticket.
It was for my 40th birthday and I absolutely love him, it was worth every overpriced penny, but, long story short, I ended up with an extra one which I sold for £100, so I got some money back.
I'm seeing him again this year and paid £80 for it.

Mascarponeandwine · 02/02/2020 20:30

BTW Don’t want to hijack the thread but is VIP worth it?

MrsJBaptiste · 02/02/2020 20:33

I paid just over £100 to see Lionel Richie and he was great 😀

Paid over £150 to get into a club on NYE 1999 - I'd lost my ticket and had to pay again on the door... 😦

DrMadelineMaxwell · 02/02/2020 20:35

£20 a ticket for the Proclaimers was a bargain (DH loves the) and they sang for ages and were brilliant.

MondeoFan · 02/02/2020 20:36

I took my daughter to see Ariana Grande last summer at 02 I paid £170 each so £340 total

squeekums · 02/02/2020 20:36

WWE front row in Melbourne was around 1500 to 2g for 2 with a meet and greet

Totally worth it, would do it again in a heartbeat
