Not so much an AIBU, posting here for traffic! I’ve got to the age of 36 due to various medical conditions, I’ve never been to an actual music concert. I went to watch my daughter at the Manchester arena the other night ( young voices) it was brilliant! I looked up a few people playing, and was quite surprised at the price of tickets. Out of interest who did you watch, where and how much were your tickets? Thank you ;)

Most expensive tickets I have bought were £93.50 each for seats at the upcoming my chemical romance return show. Average about £45-70, around £20 for smaller venues.

milliefiori · 02/02/2020 22:43

@Robstersgirl - I agree about festivals. DS2 got super cheap tickets to All Points East last year via Virgin (literally under a tenner each for full day entry with some great headliners, But we had the best fun in the Hofmeister tent discovering loads of new bands we still listen to now, and would go to see again.

DressesWithPocketsRockMyWorld · 02/02/2020 22:44

Probably most expensive was Metallica for 50 quid.

But best I've ever seen have been bands I absolutely totally loved - BlackBerry Smoke, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake - and have cost 20 quid max. And they have been some of the best nights of my life! Love love love live music.

Neverhavetoomuchglitter · 02/02/2020 22:50

Well if anyone can tell me how to guarantee tickets for BTS in Twickenham in June I'll be happy for the right price... Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/02/2020 22:53

I'm in a meet up group for Harry Styles in April and one of the girls is coming over from Barcelona to see him.

MadeForThis · 02/02/2020 22:53

If you're looking to see gigs for free you can get bar work at the summer festivals.

BiByeBaby · 02/02/2020 22:55

Most expensive was probably Cher £100 + Fleetwood Mac were about 80ish I think. Spice girls were expensive too. On the other side of things I got tickets to see K T Tunstall for about £15. Gerry Cinnamon was only about £32.50 and it was probably the best gig I've ever been to. Love gigs and festivals

alwayslearning789 · 02/02/2020 23:01

Most ridiculously expensive were for the first BTS concert at the O2.

I'd do it again...

IamPickleRick · 02/02/2020 23:02

It’s usually about £90-£120 for me. Fleetwood MAC, Stevie Wonder, Aerosmith, Neil Young, GNR, Springsteen, they are all in that ballpark but they are headliners. I don’t think I’d pay more than that. Gutted I didn’t see Kate Bush though.

Very true that cheaper gigs and festivals are often better. Dropkick Murphys and the Charlatons were really fun.

Its gone right up, I saw Oasis at Wembley, I think that was only about £50.

cheninblanc · 02/02/2020 23:04

Yes BTS, we saw them at Wembley but I fear if I don't get tickets for Twickenham my teenager will be distraught!!
Harry styles we've got in April £50.

My guilty pleasure is American pop groups. Went by myself to both nkotb and bsb. Bsb this June were great and a lovely bit of me time

Isithometimeyet0987 · 02/02/2020 23:11

I paid £240 per ticket (bought 3) for guns n roses golden circle at slane castle in Ireland. By far best concert of my life. Adding on the fact I no longer live in Ireland and live in London I had to pay to get there to (stayed at my mums house though so no hotels to pay for and one of the tickets I bought was for her and the other for a cousin). Also Paid £270 per ticket for glanstonbury tickets. Tickets for Rolling Stones where £95. Pink was £70. Cheapest concert tickets I’ve ever bought I think where £65 for a little mix concert. I’ve been to a lot of festivals and concerts.

amazedmummy · 02/02/2020 23:13

Completely agree about tickets being too expensive now. £75 for a seated MCR ticket this year, my ticket from 2007 for standing (considerably closer to home) was £27. I feel sorry for younger people now, when I was at school I worked the weekends and my wage let me see quite a few bands that I liked.

HeronLanyon · 02/02/2020 23:15

600 per ticket for second row Leonard Cohen around 2008 (?) O2. Mad money.
Bought from resale company who didn’t send them to me. I went to head office (live close) and demanded to see managing director. Got them.

Pineaurouge · 02/02/2020 23:15

£150 a ticket (x3) to see BTS with my DDs. Their Xmas present. I wouldn’t have normally paid so much but it was all I could get and they were desperate.

Cherrysoup · 02/02/2020 23:16

Looking at Rammstein tickets, £200, but I think it would be worth it. Their concerts are insane!

heartsonacake · 02/02/2020 23:19

Prices vary massively on the artist and how popular/in demand they are.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 02/02/2020 23:22

Usually around the £70 mark. I go to a lot of gigs, here and overseas. So if you tot it up with that on top, hundreds per gig depending on who/where it is. I go to see independent venue bands as well, and tickets there no more than 15-20. I much prefer the more intimate setting. For instance, rather than go to 02 to see Nick Cave, I would probably pay to see him at a smaller venue in Europe.

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/02/2020 23:27

@cheninblanc
BSB were fantastic, I wasn't expecting such a brilliant show.

NigellaAwesome · 02/02/2020 23:28

I've just discovered how expensive having a teenage dd is.

£300 MCR ticket. Platinum was the only type left
£160 another 2 MCR tickets for another date
£100 Palaye Royale meet & greet. Worst thing is that we double booked and she won't be able to go.
Sad

DieSchottin93 · 02/02/2020 23:29

@cousinboneless where are you seeing them this year? Smile I've got tickets for Tallinn (€69) and Cardiff seated (£80.85). Considering the sheer size of the show they put on, especially the current tour, I think it's actually quite good value for money Grin

The only other artist I've seen live was George Ezra in 2018 and that was about €35 ish.

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/02/2020 23:32

I saw George Ezra last year, loved him, the ticket was a gift from my boyfriend who knew I was desperate to see him.

MovingBriskyOn · 02/02/2020 23:41

@cheninblamc who was it you saw???

I've seen a LOT of live music. Lots v cheap. Kate Bush was a high.

We saw the rolling stones and didn't begrudge paying a ridiculous amount (was if £200 or £300 per ticket???) Can't remember, but it was our summer holiday money .
But it was the rolling stones!!!

DelphiniumBlue · 02/02/2020 23:48

Wow! I don't think I'd enjoy a gig that I paid more than £50 for! Would just feel mugged off!
However I am old and my idea of appropriate pricing is the £3.00 I paid to see Queen supporting another band in the 70's.
Recently I've paid £40 for Madness and about the same for The Specials. I don't like places like 02, and prefer smaller venues, wh ic h tend to be cheaper anyway.

Cocolapew · 02/02/2020 23:54

Dearest was Neil Diamond 50th anniversary tour, think it was about £130 , but my mum paid Grin.
I used to go and see Prince when he played London, the tickets were reasonable but had to pay for flights, from Belfast, and hotels.

StudentMummy19 · 02/02/2020 23:55

£300 for 2 to see Britney Spears. My daughter arrived the day we were supposed to go. These were at standard price.

£500 resale for 2 Justin Bieber tickets.

£200/£300 or something for 2 Ed Sheeran tickets resale.

£150 for one golden circle Bon Jovi ticket on standard sale.
