Hi there,

You may or may not know that a few years ago, Mumsnet users helped Dreams create the ‘Mumsnet Mattress’ by telling them exactly what they wanted from a mattress. A group of Mumsnet users were involved all the way through, from developing the concept to the final product arriving in the store.

We want to work with brands to make more ‘Mumsnet’ products that make parents’ lives easier, and that’s where we’d like your help please. Where do you think there’s a gap in the market for the perfect...what? Is it the perfect nursing bra? Or maternity jeans? Or family-friendly car? What haven’t we thought of that doesn’t exist yet?!

Whatever product you think could be improved (or created) to make your life easier, please tell us below and we’ll do what we can to try and make it a reality.

Thanks - MNHQ

A range of attachments for modifying clothes - discreet suspenders that go under your clothes to hold your leggings/jeans up, little hooks that hold gappy shirts closed etc.

FishCanFly · 22/01/2020 13:26

a self-cleaning floor and other surfaces

YetAnotherSpartacus · 22/01/2020 13:28

Something that gives men a painful electric shock if they spray on the seat/floor instead of in the bowl.

northernlittledonkey · 22/01/2020 14:02

Washing basket filler for teenagers

BlackBlueBell · 22/01/2020 14:29

Some way to cover up when breastfeeding that doesn’t get in my way, I don’t have to hold and baby can’t pull off, preferably attached with a nursing cushion.

BlindAssassin1 · 22/01/2020 14:38

I want appliances like washing machines and fridges that are easy to wipe down. I don't want grooves in the front that catch and collect dirt that then require faffing with brushes and cleaners to get out. I want sheer surfaces. See also, high chairs and pram seats.

I also want cooker dial numbers and icons that do not get erased when a slightly abrasive cleaning product is used ffs.

iklboo · 22/01/2020 14:53

A massage suit. Like those pillows things crossed with a onesie that you wear over full body. Imagine lying down in that, relaxing music, lovely candles wine. Bliss.

raspberrymolakoff · 22/01/2020 14:56

I agree about the cooker dial numbers. Belling make replacement nobs with new numbers but the same thing happens after a bit.

I have an invention which my DDs and I wish we had. I have been in touch with a patent lawyer but unfortunately someone in the US has already patented it almost the same. Although it's never been activated it might stop me being able to patent it so he suggests i go straight to a product designer. I have some basic drawings. Trouble is now it's at the point where I need to put ££ in. How does Mumsnet help? I can't describe it here but it's to do with laundry. I have a family member who has contacts in pharmaceuticals who might help with marketing but I lack a product designer!
The patent lawyer thought it could be "life changing" but I see it as something I could sell on Etsy or Not on The High St.... thoughts?

Inside windows and something that doesn't take two days to clean white wooden blinds- some sort of duel 'steam/dust suction' device- or do they exist already!?

chocolateteapot20 · 22/01/2020 15:33

Spectacles that don't steam up when you go from one ambient temperature to another....water/liquid repellent windscreens....(weren't the MoD working on some kind of fabric for this at one point or did I dream that??)

I suppose an instant karma machine is out of the question?? Wink

LightDrizzle · 22/01/2020 15:40

A walk-in air drier, like the Dyson air blade hand drier but for whole bodies.
I get bored drying myself and it would save massively in laundry.

candycane222 · 22/01/2020 15:43

A light that comes on automatically inside a bag when you open it

MintyMabel · 22/01/2020 15:46

Shoes that go over AFO splints which don't cost a fortune and last long enough.

But you won't work with a brand to make them as they aren't a mainstream product and nobody cares enough to try.

Boredisboring · 22/01/2020 15:53

1moreRep · 22/01/2020 15:59

bloody good pair of leggings / jeans

1moreRep · 22/01/2020 16:02

a supportive app that takes you through ivf, i have little knowledge and no experience but the knowledge and experience here for such a under represented topic could be really useful

there's so many pregnancy apps, something built for ttc etc with loss built in (asi feel people get abandoned after a miscarriage)

MRex · 22/01/2020 16:03

A properly portable car seat / pushchair for children up to 25kg. A safe rear-facing car seat that folds (like Urban Kanga) but can be clipped open for safe travel rear-facing, has a light foldable undercarriage it clips onto (like little baby car seats clip on, folds like a BabyZen), can lie flat (like a Silver Cross Pop) and can all be scooped up in a thin rucksack weighing under 6kg to be carried.

LakieLady · 22/01/2020 16:18

An automatic dog grooming device, like a dog crate, that brushes and strips out the coat of my wire-haired terrier.

She hates being groomed and I hate doing it.

kemosabeimalone · 22/01/2020 16:34

An app on the Apple Watch or Fitbit that somehow links with an internal sensor to tells you the nutritional value of everything you digest in the day. It would give you prompts when you were reaching your calorific allocation for the day Or if you had not eaten enough and would let you know how balanced your diet has been over the 24 hour period. It would also link to recipe suggestions to help you make good menu choices based on your remaining nutritional needs at any pint of the day. You could choose to have treat days and carry calories over to that day and could also recalibrate daily goals for plans like intermittent fasting.

A self-tidying toy box, with auto colour detection for Lego.

isseywith4vampirecats · 22/01/2020 16:35

a small to store machine that would put the duvet cover on the duvet for me with perfectly squared corners and then do the buttons up at the bottom

kemosabeimalone · 22/01/2020 16:39

Something that would flea treat the cat for me - he’s very savvy and as soon as I reach for the Advocate treatment or put on rubber gloves he runs a for the hills!

A light that comes on automatically inside a bag when you open it

Like this one? The light clips inside the bag or wallet. Available from various internet stores.
