Hi there,

You may or may not know that a few years ago, Mumsnet users helped Dreams create the ‘Mumsnet Mattress’ by telling them exactly what they wanted from a mattress. A group of Mumsnet users were involved all the way through, from developing the concept to the final product arriving in the store.

We want to work with brands to make more ‘Mumsnet’ products that make parents’ lives easier, and that’s where we’d like your help please. Where do you think there’s a gap in the market for the perfect...what? Is it the perfect nursing bra? Or maternity jeans? Or family-friendly car? What haven’t we thought of that doesn’t exist yet?!

Whatever product you think could be improved (or created) to make your life easier, please tell us below and we’ll do what we can to try and make it a reality.

Thanks - MNHQ

A butter dish with a thermostat to keep it the perfect temperature for spreading. Spread from the fridge ones just aren't the same!

MooseBreath · 25/01/2020 17:23

A hairspray that keeps your hair straight when it gets damp from rain or sweat!

pemberlyshades · 25/01/2020 18:48

I want a shopping unpacker robot with shoulder massage attachment.

SpecLosers · 25/01/2020 20:25

Top of my probably ridiculous dream list is to have a shower room that has a body blow drier. My dream.

It's always so cold when you exit the shower stall, and to just rotate yourself in front of a body warming drier would be the bees knees.

But I'm not a footballer's wife either. So towels it is.

BigRedBoat · 25/01/2020 20:39

LightDrizzle they already exist! www.independent4life.co.uk/apres-body-dryer.html

AaronBurrSirr · 25/01/2020 21:02

Marmite butter.

Sweetdreamer93 · 25/01/2020 21:09

An ironing machine and I do expect royalties and a share if my suggestion goes ahead. Wink

drspouse · 25/01/2020 22:31

@AaronBurrSirr you could always make some?

(Love Hamilton by the way).

LightDrizzle · 26/01/2020 11:10

Wow! Thanks for sharing! I hope someone brings out a non-gentle version. I’m surprised it isn’t more expensive actually.

CoalTit · 26/01/2020 11:43

@Binglebong. What you want already exists. It's a French butter dish. You keep the butter in the inside dish, which you put upside down into the exterior dish when you're not using it. You keep a little water in the bottom of the exterior dish so that the air doesn't get to the butter and oxidise it, the oxygen in the air being what makes the butter rancid.

Binglebong · 26/01/2020 12:05

I'll check it out Coal Tit! Thanks

  • An underwear that turns farts into a neutral smell.
  • A device that can store solar energy for later use
  • A device just like in the film “Strange days” (with Juliette Lewis) that allows you to experience other people’s experiences.
Vik1ng · 28/01/2020 22:58

I think the underwear does exist., I’m sure I read about clothing with a neutralising carbon filter, years ago in a magazine I was reading in hospital!

Vik1ng · 28/01/2020 23:00

Yep, found them on google, they’re called Shreddies.

VeniceQueen2004 · 29/01/2020 07:57

Some sort of app that means you can give a toddler a phone/iPad playing Duggee that they don't immediately turn off by fiddling the touch screen and then cry

sunshinekids · 29/01/2020 08:22

@VeniceQueen2004 👍🏼

nearlynermal · 30/01/2020 23:37

Fake tan that doesn't pong, rub off on the sheets or turn orange.

A glass that will keep freezer-cooled drinks like vodka or limoncello below zero while you drink them.

Merename · 01/02/2020 20:09

@VeniceQueen2004, have a google of ‘guided access’ on iPhone - presumably on ipad too, you do 3 clicks of home button rapidly and then you can choose areas of the screen to turn off touch responsiveness.

VeniceQueen2004 · 01/02/2020 20:13

@merename

You may have just changed my life forever (or at least for the remaining toddler years). God bless you!

Merename · 01/02/2020 20:20

Haha, delighted to hear it!!

Namechange8471 · 01/02/2020 20:47

A sunbed that tans without the risk of skin cancer

Or

A walk in tanner without the fake tan smell or orange look

DNR · 09/02/2020 18:23

A cure for acne.

The80sweregreat · 09/02/2020 21:08

A pill that provides all the vitamins I need so no more cooking or buying food ever again!

MitziK · 09/02/2020 22:54

I still bear a grudge against whoever 'obviously' saw my engineering project for a clip designed to hold umbrellas over people pushing buggies or using wheelchairs and nicked the idea. After I stopped getting soaked to the skin on school runs, naturally.

However, what I REALLY want are

Drawers in washing machines that aren't impossible to clean, with water inlets that don't mould up and that actually have a hole large enough to let fabric softener into the machine without gunking up.

Appliances that don't have stupid ridges, crevices and mouldings that trap dirt.

Shower heads that actually increase pressure instead of pretending that they do for sales.

Toilet flushes/siphons that don't stop working if you have hard water.

The80sweregreat · 10/02/2020 10:10

I've just tried to clean the drawer of the washing machine and it's so hard to clean probably. A better invention is needed for the distribution of the powder I agree! I live in a very hard water area and it's awful how clogged up things get.
