Hi there,

You may or may not know that a few years ago, Mumsnet users helped Dreams create the ‘Mumsnet Mattress’ by telling them exactly what they wanted from a mattress. A group of Mumsnet users were involved all the way through, from developing the concept to the final product arriving in the store.

We want to work with brands to make more ‘Mumsnet’ products that make parents’ lives easier, and that’s where we’d like your help please. Where do you think there’s a gap in the market for the perfect...what? Is it the perfect nursing bra? Or maternity jeans? Or family-friendly car? What haven’t we thought of that doesn’t exist yet?!

Whatever product you think could be improved (or created) to make your life easier, please tell us below and we’ll do what we can to try and make it a reality.

Thanks - MNHQ

A Mumsnet lock. Hate how much time I waste here but all those M-in-Law stories are so addictive.

drspouse · 22/01/2020 21:46

@3luckystars the Cybex Sirona rotates which is almost as good.

Havanananana · 22/01/2020 21:49

Self levelling spoon. One that no matter what way up it is held, the spoon bit stays upright like a gyroscope.

Something similar exists - there are self-levelling spoons for sufferers of Parkinson's disease.

A dummy my 4 month old won't immediately refuse and spit out... They say to look for "one closest to your nipple shape" but I don't know whose nipples they base dummies on but they're some weird shapes!!
He takes an expressed bottle fine, but dummies make him angry.

A car windscreen that doesn't suffer from condensation or ice. Or a heater that gets rid of it very quickly.

Whatdayisit2 · 22/01/2020 22:34

Teleporter. I hate traffic and time spent travelling!

A heated windscreen has been available on most European and UK Ford models since the 1980's. My 1990 Ford Orion came with one as standard, as did my last Mondeo in around 1998.

Micro cement - sorted!

gingerchaos · 22/01/2020 23:08

@mummyfriend The ability to see all of an OP's posts bundled together at the start of each thread so I don't have to scroll through pages and pages looking for updates! It drives me mad!

I think you can do this on the app

nosetonip · 22/01/2020 23:12

A hair turban / towel that functions like an electric blanket (though maybe one you can charge so you don't need to be plugged in) and gently warms your hair to speed up the drying process for people with curly hair (or others who don't want to blow dry).

3luckystars · 22/01/2020 23:14

@drspouse thank you.
I meant the entire back seat though. Like a black cab. The entire back seat is attached to the front seats, facing backwards. I have suggested this but people say you couldn't sell the car afterwards, but all cars ccould be like this. There is nothing to stop us.

abitoflight · 22/01/2020 23:20

I'd like instant pockets that somehow can be stuck inside jackets and coats so I don't need to carry a handbag

Serin · 22/01/2020 23:20

A cholesterol filter.

Havanananana · 22/01/2020 23:36

Buy a used black cab? Although this would mean that one adult in the relationship would have to travel in the back, which judging by the responses on another thread is disrespectful, unacceptable, grounds to LTB etc. Grin

BeautifulBirds · 22/01/2020 23:40

I've got an idea for a shopping list app but don't know where to start producing it!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/01/2020 00:45

Depending on how big your family is, you can get Mercedes van-based MPVs with the standard seats in the front, a backward-facing row in the middle and then a normal forward-facing row at the back. I may be wrong, but I think you can swap the whole row around to face whichever way you prefer.

People who get travel sick wouldn't thank you, though as it might make them even more unwell sitting backwards although at least you wouldn't be in the firing line for their vomit.

Some sort of soundproof cover so that I could actually spend the whole night in my own bed without being disturbed by husband's snoring (even when wearing headphones playing white noise at top volume at the same time as having earplugs in I can still hear him).

A cutout section for my boobs and my spare arm would also be helpful.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 23/01/2020 03:52

A cutout section for my boobs and my spare arm would also be helpful I mean in my mattress if that wasn't obvious Grin

Cantwaitforsummer2020 · 23/01/2020 04:03

An effective form of actual PERMANENT body hair removal that also works on light blonde hair.

Pinkcat231 · 23/01/2020 07:04

A manual toothbrush where you only replace the brush head like an electric one instead of throwing the plastic handle away every few months. Also, hairbrushes, make up brushes etc, so wasteful when you think about it...

gingerchaos · 23/01/2020 07:37

Pinkcat we've switched to bamboo toothbrushes which all biodegrade.

buckeejit · 23/01/2020 07:58

@pinkcat. Do you replace hairbrushes often? Why? I just wash mine (rarely).

toomuchlikemyusername · 23/01/2020 08:06

For car manufacturers to do something about daytime running lights. Ever since these became a thing, I've seen more and more cars on the road, in poor light and visibility conditions with no rear lights on at all because the person at the wheel thinks that the daytime running lights have got it covered. They haven't. No one can see you from behind.

Whilst the drivers have responsibility for knowing their car and it's controls, I feel really strongly that the designers and manufacturers have introduced something that it actually compromising road safety rather than improving it.

And if you can't sort that, can I have an illuminated sign for my car that says 'put your rear lights on, you numpty'! Grin

Post c section clothing range. I can't wear ordinary jeans anymore and my son is nearly 3 - they cut my saggy belly in half and look awful. And I need long length tops, tops come to about halfway down my belly. Surely someone out there can produce some decent clothes that cover our bodies in a flattering way? And they should be soft and supportive around the tummy.
