Hi there,

You may or may not know that a few years ago, Mumsnet users helped Dreams create the ‘Mumsnet Mattress’ by telling them exactly what they wanted from a mattress. A group of Mumsnet users were involved all the way through, from developing the concept to the final product arriving in the store.

We want to work with brands to make more ‘Mumsnet’ products that make parents’ lives easier, and that’s where we’d like your help please. Where do you think there’s a gap in the market for the perfect...what? Is it the perfect nursing bra? Or maternity jeans? Or family-friendly car? What haven’t we thought of that doesn’t exist yet?!

Whatever product you think could be improved (or created) to make your life easier, please tell us below and we’ll do what we can to try and make it a reality.

Thanks - MNHQ

@BuzzShitbagBobbly
Grin Exactly so. That plus seamlessly integrated meal preparation.

Fallsballs · 23/01/2020 18:33

A comfortable bra for over size DD
Wide straps, designed properly and not just a larger version of a bra for small boobs or some ghastly sports inspired structured nightmare. I have tried nearly every bra over the years and none are fully comfortable. Men have gone to the moon but bras are still uncomfortable.
Surely it must be possible to get lift without pain 🤪

ConferencePear · 23/01/2020 18:37

Specs that don't steam up when you're cooking.

whiteroseredrose · 23/01/2020 19:03

A cheap wildlife tunnel to go under every road.

myhandsareverycold · 23/01/2020 19:11

This is thee best thread ever!

thedocisin · 23/01/2020 20:03

A robot that goes around the house all day doing laundry putting it in the machine taking it out hanging it all out and putting away in correct person piles. A bit like a Roomba but for laundry

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 23/01/2020 20:15

A bra for life. Doesn't stretch/ shrink/go grey/ create side boob / create under boob/ end up hellishly painful by the end of the day.

Available in all the colours of the rainbow and reasonably priced.

Pure fantasy...

BeautifulBirds · 23/01/2020 20:25

A moses basket mattress that is warm and 'breathes'. Like mimics your chest rise and fall.

OnTheEdgeOfTheNight · 23/01/2020 20:38

Sponges for washing dishes that aren't made of plastic, or ones that are properly recyclable and can be properly cleaned.

Some kind of receptacle for wet cloths and sponges that keeps them tidy when they're drying out.

A better system for washing wooden floors.

A multipurpose lightbulb adapter that allows you to swap the fitting type. E. G. Screw to bayonet, small screw to normal screw. Actually let's scrap that and just streamline the number of fitting types.

A better way to deal with packed lunches than plastic tubs or expensive cloth wraps that are difficult to clean.

JupiterBelle · 23/01/2020 20:44

A sweet that works like toothpaste for stubborn toddlers who refuse to open their mouth to brush their teeth!

AmelieTaylor · 23/01/2020 20:46

I meant the entire back seat though. Like a black cab. The entire back seat is attached to the front seats, facing backwards.

Vomit inducing. No thank you.

Puddlepop · 23/01/2020 20:47

Fart-absorbing fabric from which ALL pants of the future can be made.

Sturdy protective packaging which can hold various sizes of amazon products, be delivered and opened with localised destruction of the outer seams so that the packaging can be handed straight back to the courier for resizing (one size down) and reused to deliver next smaller sized item. The process continues until the packaging is tiny and no longer of purpose ... then it can be buried in the earth and turned into potato seedlings to feed the masses.

Easily washable straw-drinking bottles for children. Every single one I’ve encountered seems to be a nightmare to wash.

Dickhead detectors so nobody has to waste precious time on them.

An app that tells you exactly what to collect and allows you to input all important documents into one place as you go through life, so there is less panic if one has to get their ducks in a row.

In-soles that feel as new as the day they were placed.

OverUnderSidewaysDown · 23/01/2020 21:08

@nogooddeedgoesunpunished The gadget for applying lotion to your back does exist - my elderly dad had one. Just google lotion applicator back and you will find a selection.

OverUnderSidewaysDown · 23/01/2020 21:10

My wished-for gadget is a beeper that is small enough to attach to spectacles and hearing aids and can be activated remotely in order to locate them when they are lost.

animaginativeusername · 23/01/2020 21:14

Seeing how clothes will fit my body shape, given a realistic image

Bimbleberries · 23/01/2020 21:15

robot bathtub/tile/shower/sink washer, a bit like those window washing robots that don't really work yet - it would all use the same technology, just needs to get better at staying attached, identifying curved surfaces etc. It could do the whole bathroom apart from the toilet, and then you'd just wash the cloth afterwards, and it would make the tiles shiny and no water scum, too.

drone thing that would dust everywhere and suck the dust up gently like a very light hoover

robot carpet washer that actually works

(are you sensing a theme here?)

miniature grow lights to stick in each plant pot, battery powered, for indoor plants that don't get enough sun but are in awkward places

TiddlesUpATree · 23/01/2020 21:37

A factor 50 tablet. You take it in the morning and you're protected all day. No sticky slimy sun cream. Sure I read that there's something being designed based on fish skin.

Catiinthehat · 23/01/2020 21:55

Pushchair, we’ve tried many pushchairs... if only a brand would take the best bits from each pushchair to make a super one that would be great. So far no perfect buggy on the market

nogooddeedgoesunpunished · 23/01/2020 21:55

@OverUnderSidewaysDown wow ! Thanks! Off to google now.

Valkarie · 23/01/2020 22:06

Something that gets my kids to sleep and keeps them asleep for the night.

Merename · 23/01/2020 22:22

@Valkarie, whisky? ;)

I’ve enjoyed reading this thread. Gloves that actually work and can be kept on by small toddlers.

Wasail · 23/01/2020 22:42

I would like a modular car so that when I need to make a journey with just me I can take the tiny version but I can add bits on for the kids or the dogs. A bit like having a mini bendy bus with different options for the tails and the option to have no tail. I think I’d like to develop the idea for an electric bike type thing first, a basic bike but with optional trailers for shopping, children, dogs.
I know it’s a daft idea.

LemonPrism · 23/01/2020 23:15

The beeper function thing is literally a Tile. My headphones have one built in

AlbaAlba · 23/01/2020 23:23
  1. A disability travel app that allowed airports, stations, trains, buses etc to follow someone who needs special assistance, can locate them in the transport system, is all joined up - so that when your train is late, all your special assistance bookings are updated for the rest of the journey (often on different tramline which have different systems). Would also have an alarm function for disabled people in distress when forgotten on lonely platforms or on trains that are about to move off with them stuck inside (happens frequently to me).
  1. A kind of note app / dictaphone which instead of you writing or speaking your notes, it downloads the thought, in silence, straight from your brain. That would be wonderful, but good luck!
AlbaAlba · 23/01/2020 23:28

@animaginativeusername

Something like that already exists, I think. Can't remember what or where though.
