I've bought a new bed for the dog.

'Large' size, allegedly suitable for large dogs like labradors etc.

Thought she'd really like it as she isn't allowed on the leather sofa.

LOOK AT THE FUCKING SIZE OF IT

😡

My 15kg dog barely fits on it..

I am just so disappointed, DH thinks it's fine.

That'll learn me for buying online I suppose, I should have bought one I could see in the shop.

Ugh.
Don't know if it'll be worth my while returning it with the postage.

It's like a fucking dolly dog bed.

I am so cross.

Ddogs play at bunks also!!

helberg · 22/01/2020 20:33

Are you able to send it back?

Failing that, sell it on gumtree or somewhere and at least recoup some of the cost so you can buy something else.

frostedviolets · 22/01/2020 20:42

It looks like they do the same bed in x large and xx large on amazon...

Tiny bed is a size 'large' Hmm

I'm tempted to buy an xx large and try and FB marketplace tiny bed.

Because I do actually love the look of it, just not the size.

I think she should be able to stretch out fully and she can't really do that comfortably.

I think aswell, because the bed is against a large plain wall (the only place I have free really for a dog bed) it really emphasises it's small size, it looks out of place imo.

I'm interested in these folding dogs . . .

. . . is there a little lever on them, like an ironing board? Are they hinged? Can I transform my spaniels with a simple home conversion kit?

SingingMyOwnSpecialSong · 22/01/2020 23:25

I deliberately got my staffie a smallish bed as he loved squeezing himself into the (big) cat bed. He goes in his bed when he want to be all curled up and lays on the floor or sofa to stretch out. He still sometimes pinches the cat’s bed too as it is in the kitchen and his is in the living room and he likes being near me.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/01/2020 07:40

Staffies are weird.

We had three many years ago. Each dog had his/her own bed, just a nice size for them, but all three would pile into one - a sort of leaning tower of staffies, there were legs and tails sticking out at all angles, but they just had to be touching each other. Even on the floor or the settee where there was plenty of room, they crushed into a corner and swaddled round each other as though they were plaited. They liked to be touching us, too, so liked us to both be on the settee where they could wrap round us, or lie on us , and still be in physical contact with each other

They were lovely!

I still miss them 30 years later.

My enormous big old dog (Dylan, RIP) came with a puppy bed, when he was the size of a small spaniel. He grew to the be the size of a very large golden retriever (and then a bit), but he still tried to squeeze himself into his puppy bed. We had to throw it away in the end because it looked so daft, this great big dog with his head and front end in the bed and the rest all flopped over the rim onto the floor.

We could never work out how it could possibly be comfortable! We bought him a bean bag on the floor after that, and he was quite happy with it.

PanickedMondays · 23/01/2020 09:07

Well for gods sake measure the size quoted for the XXLarge.

  • -and compare with a small IKEA sofa- -
Whynosnowyet · 23/01/2020 10:47

Ime online tape measures have their own versions of cm /inches. I ordered a ddog coat for my rotty. Based on their measurements.

Dlurcher loves her new coat...

@Schaden, we had a staffie/mastiff cross a few years ago. Lovely girl. Did yours used to root for fuss, as in, shove a snout under your elbow and lift, and woe betide you if you were holding a hot drink?

lindyloo57 · 23/01/2020 17:42

Butterisbest I love your dogs x

They did Zoidberg - wouldn't take no for an answer. They pushed their noses under, flung up their heads and sent stuff flying.

And they "talked" all the time - just like Spotty Dog ff the Woodentops. I've never known a breed with such a vocal range - they sort of grumbled, and wowwowowed, made noises that sounded like growls (but weren't, IYSWIM), yodelled, made "clucking" noises, chirped (no other word fr it), howled, whined and purred. And they gazed into your eyes during the entire conversation.

One of our present spaniels is a chatterbox, but nothing like the staffie's were.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/01/2020 19:50

Whynosnowyet

Hinges, eh?
