Hello all, just caught myself reminiscing about all the good times spent in fields and warehouses during my youth so would like some fellow cheesy quavers to come and talk about your best times so I feel less alone in big fish, little fish-ing in my living room.

Did anyone else used to watch human traffic the night before a big night out to get themselves hyped up for it (not that we needed hyping up!!

That was what we watched once we got home coming down lol
One of my all time favorite movies still
The aussie rave scene is much smaller than the uk sadly

best bits i remember, a hippy bush doof near a open range zoo, we watched sunrise with lions roaring
We cracked a balcony floor at a pub in the city. A hardcore rave took it over for a night. 1 night and we break the joint
Many sunrises on summer mornings at the beach
1st ever rave in a forest, again with the hippies, bonfire, acid, free weed

Ballstothisdotcom · 05/01/2020 15:53

Whatever club you went too there was always a mean old cow who worked in the loo. But to be fair she was probably sick to the back teeth of the constant diarrhoea from all the speed. Or was that just me?

Im sure one club I used to turn off the cold water so you could only get hot water from the toilet taps.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 05/01/2020 16:12

Bagleys, The Cross, Malibu Stacy’s, Labrynth, Turnmills, Aquarium, Fabric, that manor place in Rainham, The Fridge, Gardening Club

Such great nights

Also Ministry was never that bothered by the place

I also loved Car Wash at Hanover Grand (but later when it went all glam) and Emporium

Probably have met some fellow MN’s raving away and > Grin Grin

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 17:19

I am so glad that I might have been dancing next to some of you at Malibu Stacey

if anyone remembers giving me a large pink cowboy hat - saying "it suits you better than it does me" - I really, really thank you for that Flowers

Bleubell · 05/01/2020 17:20

Love this thread! Im 27 so very much still raving away. My first rave was when I was 16, bloody loved it!

I'm from Glasgow so the arches was the place to be every weekend, not been quite the same since it closed 😢 my best friend and I go to Ibiza every year it's my favourite place on earth!

Wish I was in my late teens during the 90s, seemed so much more fun!

Toadonthetreadmill · 05/01/2020 17:20

Oh aquarium! Only went there a couple of time but distinctly remember the relief of jumping in the pool after having sweated my tits off (may or may not have done it fully clothed so I could be cool for longer Confused)

@EnthusiasmIsDisturbed I was just thinking I bet some of us had chatted in the toilets declaring to be Bff 😂

CrustyMorticia · 05/01/2020 18:43

I'm sure im not the only one from back in the day who is eternally grateful there were no camera phones and socal media to have horrendous pics tagged in!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 05/01/2020 18:53

Racheyg

Oh absolutely Grin

Yes very pleased no camera phones about have a few photos thankfully from the start of the night and have seen myself on a video from Ministry on YouTube can’t find it anymore

babygrootandstarlord · 05/01/2020 19:08

Love this thread! Ahh I miss those days.

My main years were 95-02, at The Fridge, The End, The Cross, Bagleys, Fabric, lots of random places in Vauxhall, probably the most mental night ever was at Skazi at (I think???) the Renaissance Rooms Vauxhall.

Like many of you - VERY glad there was no social media back then! But I do wish there were at least some photos because my memory of most nights is distinctly hazy Wink

Also did Ministry at the millenium dome NYE 2001 and 2002.

Racheyg · 05/01/2020 21:22

@babygrootandstarlord I did it on 2001 and the toilets flooded. It was so cold. I spent the night in the drum and bass tent as it was the warmest.

I am also ashamed to say I did the whole buffalo boots and cyber dog outfits 🙈

kazza446 · 05/01/2020 21:37

Ah the good old days! I remember buying mixmag and planning our weekends. We are north west based but would branch out to preston (feel), Liverpool (cream), gods kitchen Birmingham. Met my dh (off my tits) in one of these clubs. Vaguely remember spending a week in London with uni friends and being in club uk. My friend had taken a dodgy pill and thought she was on a train reading a newspaper. We managed to get in some states but we had great fun! I had the furry boots, cyber dog clothing too. My best memory was being in Ibiza, we were fairly skint but we met a club promoter we knew. They were going home so gave us their vip bracelet for amnesia. I ended up sticking it on my wrist with chewing gum then lording it up with Tanya strecker and a couple of eastenders crew in the vip bar. Obviously being a commoner I nicked whatever I could!! Good times. I have a mega responsible job now so I’m as straight as a dye! boring arse

Oldraver · 05/01/2020 21:46

I loved the 414, managed to set fire to the floor by dropping a bottle of poppers and my B/F setting light to it.

I only went to the Q club once when it was re-opened. It was really skanky

Oldraver · 05/01/2020 21:55

Rachey

Yes I remember the flooded toilets at The Millennium Dome and how over the evening the water started to creek closer to the dancing area. I also was in the D+B tent due to being cold

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 21:56

If this had been around in our clubbing days, I reckon we’d watch it after getting home. Just me?

Oldraver · 05/01/2020 21:59

From that night

Cheesy Quavers- come forward with your best rave stories or just come and reminisce?
AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 22:15

Oldraver I’ve got something in my eye....

KaleidoscopeEyes · 05/01/2020 22:22

Me and DP have been going to 90's Fest over the last 18 months, and it's fucking epic Grin The best fun we've ever had in our whole 9 year relationship. I'm not stopping for a bit either. We're going to Ibiza raving for my 50th in July and I actually CAN'T WAIT.

Hatetheendof · 05/01/2020 22:25

Does anyone go to festivals now? Which ones are best or closest to how it used to be?

MissClementine · 05/01/2020 22:28

Labrynth, early 90s, I was in the ‘long dark tunnel’ and a teenager!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 05/01/2020 22:31

Ooooo so many hazy memories :D It all started at the Camden Palace, we used to go to Peach every week. Also Turnmills and 414 in Brixton.

I also once went to an illegal rave on the Bristol to Bath cycle path that was just amazing. It was an unplanned night and what a blast!

Later on was quite fond of the events at the Alexander Palace, saw Tiesto there and also Tranzmission. (I actually really rate it for gigs too, saw Bullet for my Valentine there and it was one of the best gigs I've been to.)

We had a bit of a train journey to get home from London and the shit that got chatted for that hour, if it could have been filmed I think we would have been youtube hits XD

LivingDeadGirlUK · 05/01/2020 22:36

I used to wear those fluffy legwarmers that flared out over your shoes, and tiny skirts and crop tops. Not going to happen these days :p For special occasions I would wear fairy wings.

SeagullOnTheWind · 05/01/2020 22:38

@Racheyg back when it was still Camden Palace Star I believe I spent that night down the road at the Electric Ballroom.

I only went to two illegal raves, rest of the time I was down Slimelight on the hardcore floor, at Full Tilt on a Friday, or DJing myself all over the place. I missed the proper rave scene when it was good. My friend caught the end of it, underage.

alphajuliet123 · 05/01/2020 22:40

A few Leeds mentions here - did anyone go to The Gallery early 90's? Best days!!

GinUnicorn · 05/01/2020 22:42

@SeagullOnTheWind I can’t believe I forgot
Slime! Metal works! Those nights were messy!!
