Hello all, just caught myself reminiscing about all the good times spent in fields and warehouses during my youth so would like some fellow cheesy quavers to come and talk about your best times so I feel less alone in big fish, little fish-ing in my living room.

Omgilovedraving · 04/01/2020 23:22

ilovepixie I did the same for my 50th!

19lottie82 · 04/01/2020 23:22

Did any Glaswegians on here ever frequent the Soundhaus in the early noughties?

FrangipaniBlue · 04/01/2020 23:22

Sundissential in Leeds and Birmingham, and sometimes Godskitchen

Ahhhh forgot about these - Godskitchen oh to go back 😍

beverlymarsh · 04/01/2020 23:24

@FrangipaniBlue it was ace wasn’t it!! I got very into that whole scene during my uni years and would spend many a weekend ferrying myself around Yorkshire and down to Birmingham on National Express coaches... 🙌🏻💕

TheWickerWoman · 04/01/2020 23:25

I recently found a video of a group of us at a rave at Bagleys on YouTube in 2000 that I didn’t know existed. Bizarre seeing that rave twenty years on!

Witchofzog · 04/01/2020 23:28

Oh my. Some of the best years of my life. United Dance at Stevenage. Hard-core Heaven at the Sanctuary. The Rhythm Station in Aldershot and Labrynth in Dalston. Pirate radio stations too- Dream FM and Radio Active. My trademark look was either a white or pink feather now with hot pants, high kickers and a tiny top. I loved that you would always chat n dance with total strangers who were all on the same wave length as you. You never knew how the night would turn out but at the same time no night was a bad night. Waiting for the first train time at 7am with all the "normal people" and other assorted ravers who also stood out like a sore thumb. They were the best of best times - I literally lived for the weekends. I don't miss 3 day come downs though Smile

beverlymarsh · 04/01/2020 23:28

@TheWickerWoman 😆😆😆fantastic!!! Apparently I am on some channel 4 documentary about clubbing culture. It was shown one Saturday night when I was at Gatecrasher. When I got to the regular after-hours haunt, several people came up to me telling me I’d been on the telly earlier that eve. I was most confused at the time. I’ve still never seen it!!

Babymamamama · 04/01/2020 23:29

Love this thread. I had my standards and never ever raved outdoors or without proper loos. I didn't even really like festivals. I just loved a fully fitted club with chill out areas, good outdoor space and a variety of DJs. Favourites through the years were The Gardening Club in Covent Garden,The Cross, The End, The Hanover Grand, Turnmills, Fabric, Egg Club all in central London . Out of town faves were The Zap andof course super club Cream. Fun times. Like other posters I'm now straight laced and never discuss my hedonistic past with anyone who wasn't there at the time. I feel sorry for youngsters nowadays. With all the grime music and knives the scene doesn't seem as joyful and innocent as it was back then.

TheWickerWoman · 04/01/2020 23:32

@beverlymarsh

Was that the gatecrasher in Birmingham? I went to quite a few raves in Brum as that’s where I’m from.

I bet you could find footage you’re on somewhere...

tinnitusagain · 04/01/2020 23:34

19lottie82 yyy the soundhaus!! + test at the art school Grin + subby

beverlymarsh · 04/01/2020 23:36

@TheWickerWoman no it was Gatecrasher at the Republic in Sheffield. It was amaaaaaaazing. I went there almost every Saturday for about two years from the end of 1998 (ie when I started uni!). I think it started in Birmingham didn’t it? I might be mixing it up with something else.... According to various clubbing pages I follow on fb (I hardly ever go proper clubbing any more but still like to know what’s going on 🤣) the brand has gone downhill of late. Shame.

Mummadeeze · 04/01/2020 23:40

I used to club promote techno nights... lived and breathed the scene for many years. Favourite clubs were Club UK in Wandsworth, the Fridge, Lost (which moves around), Heaven, the Orbit in Leeds. Ran a regular night at 414 for a while, had a long term fling with a fairly famous DJ. Funniest moment, getting stopped going into the End because the bouncer found drugs in my purse (which weren’t actually mine) so went home, put on a disguise and went back and got in! Also had some amazing experiences at festivals like Tribal Gathering. Organised a very messy coach trip to the Munich one which took quite some getting over!

Snoopdogsbitch · 04/01/2020 23:40

lottie I would have been grooving right beside you in the Soundhaus- legendary. My exH was mates with one of the DJs and I'd gone to uni with the guy who did the lights so the after- parties were out of this world. I remember sweating so much that i took off my teeny, halter top in the toilet, soaked it and put it back on to try and cool myself down. Maharashi's and Stan Smith's completed the look. Those were the bloody days. ( Oh to be skinny again!).

I did the Arches quite a bit in the early days . Remember the actors who would be kicking about? A classic was that they were bald, painted orange and sitting up huge ladders peeling potatoes. I'm sure it was to fuck with our already addled minds.

However, I was a loyal Subby girl. The night Harri played ' Money's Too Tight to Mention' as the lights came on at 6am is tattooed in my mind as I knew I was living my best life. Did you ever go to the afters under the disused arches in Finneston? Frickin amazing. Some didn't finish until noon.

Otherwise, frequented Hacienda, Godskitchen and The Gardening Club. To the Manor Born in Middlesborough was epic.

TheWickerWoman · 04/01/2020 23:41

@beverlymarsh

That’s right, it did start in Brum so I wondered if we’d been to the same rave at the same time Crown Grin

I’ve not been clubbing for years now but after seeing that old footage it really made me miss it. I guess I’d feel soooo out of place now haha. My brother went to a rave in Bournemouth 3/4 years ago and he said it was still really good. Weird going out to smoke though when you would just share them on the dance floor with fellow ravers.

CruCru · 04/01/2020 23:42

I used to go to Sterns in Worthing. I think some boy died from a drugs overdose and it got shut down.

Babymamamama · 04/01/2020 23:45

Just remembered another one.... The Acquarium on Old Street roundabout which had a swimming pool.

Frouby · 04/01/2020 23:47

I dread to think there is footage out there.

We did 'crasher and the archers in Sheffield and progressed to the Niche. Jesus fuck it was rough and dirty and very bad but absolutely loved every minute. Also went to Ibiza. Manumission and pacha and es paradis.

I was a financial adviser at the time for a big high street bank. 2 of us doing the same role. Rule was 1 of us in. But we went clubbing together so would argue all Friday night over which one it was. One who went in got the last line for wake up power 😂😂😂

AutumnRose1 · 04/01/2020 23:47

Baby that’s still there.

Drill music tho

Not for me.

MsChnandlerBong · 04/01/2020 23:49

AutumnRose1 chooon was for you, yes?!

AutumnRose1 · 04/01/2020 23:53

MsChnandlerBong yay! That one seems to be a bit rare, I frequently find former clubbers don’t know it.

BanginChoons · 04/01/2020 23:55

Anyone remember a club called the Q Club in Birmingham? I remember going there for a bangin Slammin Vinyl about 2003 ish. It had a zillion little corridors and I kept wandering around in them getting lost.

beverlymarsh · 04/01/2020 23:57

@Mummadeeze when (ish) was your 414 night? My husband used to go there all the time back in the day. The one time I went with him he seemed to know everyone in there 😆

I too had a fling with a DJ from the scene, many years ago. Quite a short term thing. But amusing at the time, especially as one of his CDs was one of my favourites whilst I was at Uni years before 🤣

Ballstothisdotcom · 04/01/2020 23:57

I’ll just leave this here
