Hello all, just caught myself reminiscing about all the good times spent in fields and warehouses during my youth so would like some fellow cheesy quavers to come and talk about your best times so I feel less alone in big fish, little fish-ing in my living room.

@fruitywidow or the warehouse raves going on in south bristol ATM.

I wish I didn't have such a responsible job and DC. I'd be down there every weekend gurning my tits off if I wasn't a proper grown up Sad

FruityWidow · 04/01/2020 22:33

@Fizzypoo yep the scene still very much alive down in the SW. Grin

BanginChoons · 04/01/2020 22:34

@oldraver, I was at the sanctuary for that one. I'm from the Midlands but I think I ended up in Croydon afterwards. There was an all dayer at the Sanctuary that summer too.

I remember one site party dancing on the roof of cars, going for a wander, leaning on a fence chatting with some randomness, the fence fell down and we were all lying on the ground. Then the sun came up and there were chickens everywhere as we had knocked their fence down.

The worst one was a city one in an old warehouse. Some lads were skateboarding on the roof on acid. I was terrified someone would fall off and die but as far as I know they didn't, thankfully.

I started out at illegal farm raves in Essex when I was 14, then moved to Romford in '96 where I was a dancer for Peach at Camden. Also used to frequent Borwick Manor in Rainham, Aquarium with the indoor pool, and Temple which was free drinks all night for girls only and it was total carnage.
Met my ex husband and we had a proper chemical romance, I dabbled a bit in DJing myself and we spent ten years travelling all over the country; Cream, Passion, Gatecrasher, Turnmills, The Cross, Bagleys, Zap Club, Fridge, Mass, Ministry, and our favourite, The End. They'll never be another club like it and I sobbed for hours when it closed in 2008.

I used to love the whirl-y-gig, I used to go there specifically to get wasted and float around like a mad woman dancing with strangers. Happy days!!!

Omgilovedraving · 04/01/2020 22:56

We had a sound and lighting system and spent most of the early '90's putting on parties in fields, warehouses, beaches etc or taking it to illegal festivals like Letchlade, Castlemorton or sometimes legal clubs like Bagleys, The Arches. Hung out with Spiral Tribe and Bedlam, outfits like that. We had the best time ever, went to all the Criminal Justice marches, got arrested a couple of times. Happy days indeed! I'm in my mid 50's now and still dream of those times, best ever. Went to the recent exhibition at Saatchi gallery which felt so unbelievably weird, I felt quite emotional seeing all those old photos...

Toadonthetreadmill · 04/01/2020 22:59

AltogetherAndrews I think my heart would give in now. Also would have the irrational fear of bumping into one of my teen dc after they’ve told me they’re going to a sleepover Blush

I fondly remember snorting vodka up my nose from a saucer, stood on the tow path outside Wigan Pier. Good times.

Omgilovedraving · 04/01/2020 23:05

Rhubarb and Custards at Letchlade, best night of my life. Ever...

GinUnicorn · 04/01/2020 23:05

Oh good times!

414 in Brixton used to be great. I think sadly it’s closed now.

Club hidden in Vauxhall - in fact a few that area. Good times were had!

Ballstothisdotcom · 04/01/2020 23:06

I remember seeing a couple turn up at a club night having just got married. She was wearing a white crop top and mini skirt. Man I thought they were so fucking cool. I wonder if they are still married.

IwishIcan · 04/01/2020 23:07

AutumnRose1 · 04/01/2020 23:11

A lot of warehouses off the North Circular!

Also, Renaissance at the Cross, Malibu Stacey at Hanover Grand, and Bagleys, and Ministry!

Anyone up for this choon?

MsChnandlerBong · 04/01/2020 23:12

Those little squares of coloured, star shaped rice paper that some lad would stick on your hand and come back later for his 3 quid. Any idea what it is? Who cares, lick it!

AutumnRose1 · 04/01/2020 23:12

Oh and there was one NYE at Ally Pally I think, we wore identical wigs to make it easier to spot each other if we got lost!

beverlymarsh · 04/01/2020 23:12

Gatecrasher was my spiritual home in the late 90s/early 00s. Along with Sundissential in Leeds and Birmingham, and sometimes Godskitchen. Lots and lots of Ibiza. Pretty awesome times all round 😍😍😍

MsChnandlerBong · 04/01/2020 23:13

CHOOOOON!

beverlymarsh · 04/01/2020 23:14

@GinUnicorn the 414 is indeed now closed. Last year I think. Only went a couple of times as my clubbing heyday was spent up North, but it was an excellent place!

Omgilovedraving · 04/01/2020 23:16

Outside a warehouse in the car completely off my head, police open the door to search me and the car and my then boyfriend now husband, I just stood there thinking 'is she real or just part of my trip' decided she might be real and then telling myself earnestly not to be sick all over her or she would arrest me for assault!

19lottie82 · 04/01/2020 23:19

And the after parties at some poor fools flat :D all sitting up (usually in the kitchen) waiting for the pub to open!

I used to go to the Arches on a Friday night, then do an all nighter and go to the pub until 6pm. I’m just amazed I made my work each Monday! I felt a bit ropey but I was generally OK........ I’d be in my bed for at least 3 days if I tried that now 😂

Queenie8 · 04/01/2020 23:20

@AutumnRose1
I completely forgot about malibu Stacey's and the aquarium!

Did anyone do the all day and nighter that Ministry did at Knebworth House, jamiroquai played on the big outdoor stage. And then loads of top headline djs in the tents? That was a cracking night Smile

ilovepixie · 04/01/2020 23:21

My partner is 56 and I'm 51 we went to Ibiza last summer for the first time and did all the big clubs. We're going back this summer!

Omgilovedraving · 04/01/2020 23:21

I took to booking Mondays off every week!

AutumnRose1 · 04/01/2020 23:21

@MsChnandlerBong

I’m going to guess that was for me 🥳
