Prince George’s outfit

There’s a new royal portrait featuring the queen & her direct heirs. I know they seem to prefer traditional (to the point of twee) clothes for George, but AIBU to find his outfit odd? The shirt & trousers jar for me

I think it's weirder that the queen is still holding her handbag.

But hey-ho. I doubt they care.

Lovelydovey · 04/01/2020 08:34

Love the trousers - something my DS would wear! But the shirt goes oddly with them.

Peoplearemiserable · 04/01/2020 08:34

I think he looks lovely! What a great photo.

TheQueef · 04/01/2020 08:34

It's where she keeps her Gin Nan
She's never seen without it Wink

caperberries · 04/01/2020 08:35

Agree about the handbag, it lends a sort of Dame Edna quality for me

Now he’s older the outfit does look odd. He looks more like he is wearing a frilly collared blouse than a shirt

LaurieMarlow · 04/01/2020 08:35

The clothes they dress him in are hideous. But I guess royalty have their own rules.

TaxFool · 04/01/2020 08:36

He looks fine. Bit mean-spirited to pick on the child.

GreaterSpottedFemale · 04/01/2020 08:36

The shirts a bit weird I suppose but generally he looks lovely

TaxFool · 04/01/2020 08:36

But yes, the handbag is unnecessary.

CatintheFireplace · 04/01/2020 08:37

Can't believe I'm involving myself in this conversation but yes, I did think it was weird - a Peter Pan collar and tartan tousers Confused

SarahTancredi · 04/01/2020 08:37

Dont the kids only wear this stuff for photos and appearances?

Sure hes running around in a spiderman costume or something later on.

I'm.lucky if mine get out pyjamas in the hols. Hes well to he dressed at all...

MyBlueMoonbeam · 04/01/2020 08:37

They look like caricatures of themselves IMO & the shirt is like a blouse 😏

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 04/01/2020 08:37

I love the trousers. I think if the shirt had a dark green or navy trim it would have matched better.

Either way, it's a formal occasion so the tweenes makes sense.

LaurieMarlow · 04/01/2020 08:37

Bit mean-spirited to pick on the child.

I don’t think anyone’s picking on the child per se, rather those who dress him.

PristineCondition · 04/01/2020 08:37

They are not normal people, they are always dressed to be 'above ' everyone else, George's outfit fits th at brief.
The Queen looks genuinely smiley for once though. Rare and lovelyy to see

LaurieMarlow · 04/01/2020 08:38

Sure hes running around in a spiderman costume or something later on.

I do hope so.

ferntwist · 04/01/2020 08:38

Agree. They dress George like little Lord Fauntleroy and the older he gets the more silly it looks.

TowelStripes · 04/01/2020 08:38

I don't usually know what's going on in these threads about the royal family as I don't give a fig but saw this photo and well yanbu

Lllot5 · 04/01/2020 08:38

I think this is the first time I’ve seen him in long trousers.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 04/01/2020 08:40

There’s bound to be a backstory. I’m betting that either the trousers are some particular royal tartan and the blouse is an ancient tradition or that’s what the Queen gave him for Christmas so the parents felt obliged to dress him in it.

DecomposingRat · 04/01/2020 08:40

Not a great photo, I was thinking ‘that boy is massive’ for a while before I realised that he was on a step.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 04/01/2020 08:40

Is it Blackwatch tartan?

FloreanFortescue · 04/01/2020 08:41

Personally I think he looks lovely!

BlueThursday · 04/01/2020 08:42

Queenie with her bag like Nana in the Royle Family
