There’s a new royal portrait featuring the queen & her direct heirs. I know they seem to prefer traditional (to the point of twee) clothes for George, but AIBU to find his outfit odd? The shirt & trousers jar for me

I think it's weirder that the queen is still holding her handbag.

But hey-ho. I doubt they care.

Love the trousers - something my DS would wear! But the shirt goes oddly with them.

Now he’s older the outfit does look odd. He looks more like he is wearing a frilly collared blouse than a shirt

The clothes they dress him in are hideous. But I guess royalty have their own rules.

I'm.lucky if mine get out pyjamas in the hols. Hes well to he dressed at all...

They look like caricatures of themselves IMO & the shirt is like a blouse 😏

I love the trousers. I think if the shirt had a dark green or navy trim it would have matched better.

Either way, it's a formal occasion so the tweenes makes sense.

I don’t think anyone’s picking on the child per se, rather those who dress him.

They are not normal people, they are always dressed to be 'above ' everyone else, George's outfit fits th at brief.

Agree. They dress George like little Lord Fauntleroy and the older he gets the more silly it looks.

I don't usually know what's going on in these threads about the royal family as I don't give a fig but saw this photo and well yanbu

I think this is the first time I’ve seen him in long trousers.

There’s bound to be a backstory. I’m betting that either the trousers are some particular royal tartan and the blouse is an ancient tradition or that’s what the Queen gave him for Christmas so the parents felt obliged to dress him in it.

Not a great photo, I was thinking ‘that boy is massive’ for a while before I realised that he was on a step.

Is it Blackwatch tartan?
