to wear a onesie on a long haul flight?

I'm frightened of flying and taking my first ever long haul flight on Saturday! 17hrs straight to Perth. I am packing everything I can think of to make my journey comfortable but am wondering if IABU to wear a onesie on the plane? I have scoliosis so I wriggle into weird positions a lot which makes jeans feel uncomfortable sitting for long periods...yet I find in leggings I get incredibly cold on planes. My late mum bought me a super soft spotty onesie...WIBU to wear it over leggings and a singlet once we board or will I look insane?!

Am I being unreasonable?

You’d probably get away with changing into it on the plane but I would t recommend it for the airport!

Have a good flight x

Oh I wasn't going to wear it in Departures! I'd look like a giant lost baby Crown Grin

A nice blanket might stand out a bit less, would you be upset by people looking at you? If not, crack on!

Fuck it. Comfort is key. I bet you can rock it in the airport if you fancy. Who gives a shit?!

Sounds perfect for your flight.

Oh I’m not sure if I’d do that, but I’d love to... it does sound blooming comfy!

If it wouldn’t embarrass you then do it.

I'd wear it if I were you. Comfort is the most important thing.

I definitely would! But I don't give a fuck what people think, I have been known to walk home from friends houses (as a teen/early adult) in my pjs!

Fuck yes! Why not? You aren't probably going to see those people again so don't matter what they think.

If not, what about a warm jump suit? Do they exist?

It'll be a nightmare in the grim plane loos.

Just get track suit bottoms and a fleece. You'll look really silly in a onesie. Sorry.

DP said they give out blankets but (and I know how precious this sounds) I find I get really annoyed by little cold drafts! I don't know if it because am really underweight at the moment for health reasons but I find sitting for any period of time little chinks in a blanket have me freezing! So a onesie is like wearing the blanket Crown Grin

Nothing against wearing a onesie, but they are very impractical when you need to visit the toilet.

There's very few experiences worse than a 17 hour flight. But having to use a cramped plane toilet whilst wearing a onesie, and the inevitable stripping off that entails is pretty close.

Wear the onesie with your coat over it in the airport, who will know!?

I thought about that by I don't own any joggers and I'll probably never use them again if I got some.

I've seen a few people wearing them on long haul flights and if you are comfy in one why not?

I never know what to wear long haul as the flights are either boiling or freezing, there never seems to be a happy medium.

It'll be bloody difficult in the loos.

I agree that jeans are horribly uncomfortable on a flight... I always wear a pair of Hush Amelie joggers .. a sweatshirt with a vest underneath .. and take a soft blanket . Covers all eventualities in temperature and looks reasonably ok.

You will have to unzip and pull it down to use the loo, and chances are the loo floor won't be at all sanitary.

Also, the whole thing has to come off if you have a spill or if someone spills on you.

Loose yoga pants are a better idea, with a long sleeved T-shirt and light, zipped hoodie.

YABU because of the toilet issue. I have a cashmere travel blanket that comes with me to Australia every year and back and has its own little bag. So incredibly warm (but £££)

The only thing that's important to wear is flight socks

JoyTurner · 04/12/2019 20:43

Do it OP. Nothing worse than being cold, especially on a 17 hour flight.
Maybe look at some knitted loungewear as an option? Only thinking about the grim toilets too!

Oh god. I could pee on it by accident, that would be awful.
