John Lewis 2019 Christmas advert- hit or miss?

It's just been released and I think they've caught the mood just right after last year's odd collaboration with Elton. Cute, not ostentatious, Christmassy and a subtle intro to Waitrose.

Literally just finished watching it. It’s adorable I think.

I love it, think it's great.

It’s very lovely . The crossed arms and grumpy faces ! Timing is brilliant too.

It's definitely better than last year, but I'm not really loving it.

The kids will love it and it's not about expensive gifts.

I love it, far better than last year, but not as good as Monty (but almost).

I like it. Am going to JL today though, so let's see how much Edgar merchandise is available!

Much better than last year's effort. We found it funny and touching.

Oh my daughter and I just fell in love with Edgar not 5 mins ago....infact I have to be quick writing this as all I am hearing is put it on again mummy!

I don't like it. It's a not so subtle advert to sell the dragon toys / merchandise.

Whilst I understand that's the aim of their adverts. I think this year it's blatant that they've just chosen an idea that is merchandisable, that the advert itself has lost the charm of previous years like Monty the Penguin.

Seems like I’m one of the few who really liked last years advert. This latest one is sweet but I am unmoved.

Sorry but I just didn’t like it.

I'm not sure... It's cute but it's not the best, I'll struggle to remember anything more than it was about a dragon in a few months whereas I could still pretty clearly remember previous ones like the snowman, buster the boxer, monty and the monster under the bed.

Love it! So much better than last years. Reminds me of a book dd had when she was younger, ‘Too hot to hug’.

it is very sweet, but the indie-nasal voice is just blooming irritating!

It made my 18 year old cry , her younger siblings thought it was cute

I wasn't sure at first, but had warmed to it (ha!) by the end. It's not my favourite one they've ever done though.

It's okay, but I far prefer this year's Sainsbury's one.

Love it. I'm not normally fussed about Christmas ads but this one made me cry!

Edgar is sweet and the girl playing alongside him is lovely and saves it from being schmaltzy - she's got such an expressive face.

I love it and I am usually a bit meh about these ads.

Edgar is a bargain 15.00 ...just bought 3...sucked in again!!!!
