It's just been released and I think they've caught the mood just right after last year's odd collaboration with Elton. Cute, not ostentatious, Christmassy and a subtle intro to Waitrose.

AIBU to think it's a hit?

I'd prefer it if the'd used the original track by REO Speedwagon. Much better version.

Nicolastuffedone · 14/11/2019 09:26

Love it!! The little girl in it is absolutely gorgeous!!

edwinbear · 14/11/2019 09:27

I love it, made me sob and I've just ordered 2 x soft toy Edgar.

User1924 · 14/11/2019 09:28

Pitterpatterpettysteps · 14/11/2019 09:29

Aw, it's lovely!

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 14/11/2019 09:30

Yes, Buster the boxer is the only one from previous years that I actually remember. The pure unadulterated joy of it : )

mumof2masterofnone · 14/11/2019 09:33

Aww it made me cry Blush

Time of the month

My dc all liked it. It’s not my favourite Christmas advert (that will always be Sainsbury’s Mog) but I like the fact it wasn’t just filled with toys & things for them to want (they’ve never worked out that the characters are actually available to buy).

Saucery · 14/11/2019 09:36

It’s lovely!

EmmaStone · 14/11/2019 09:36

Meh, it's alright.

Ikea on the other hand, are winning:

Hont1986 · 14/11/2019 09:36

It's an advert, who cares? Confused

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 14/11/2019 09:41

Well it’s going to be in our faces for the next 6/7 weeks so it does help if it doesn’t make you want to gouge your eyes out Hont

BiddyPop · 14/11/2019 09:44

I like it, it made a little tear come at the end, but then I watched Mog's Christmas again and that made the tears come properly. (Needed the stress relief of some schmaltz today).

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2019 09:44

Cute, but too similar to the Mog one a few years ago.

BiddyPop · 14/11/2019 09:44

Oh, the Sainsbury's one was good too though - with the oranges.

Autumnfresh · 14/11/2019 09:45

Argos is fabulous. Really Christmassy and I love the dad and daughter's acting it's just so sweet. Perfect casting. Not until I read a PP complain about their line of merchandising did I realise that of course everything in the advert is for sale at Argos. Its not spoiling it for me though.

John Lewis are getting progressively worse. I guess once you peak the only way is down. They've spent far too much money and used actors that are not relatable. Yet again - who gives a damn about some monster toy? The child is not natural - even the way she has been told to knock on the door looks fake.

QueenofmyPrinces · 14/11/2019 09:47

I think I must be in the majority because I thought it was crap Grin Really, really don’t see what’s so special about it that it’s making people cry????

The penguin will always, always be the best one - that advert is definitely worthy of a few little tears.

QueenofmyPrinces · 14/11/2019 09:49

be in the minority Grin

Autumnfresh · 14/11/2019 09:49

OMG. I am crying. I've just watched Sainsbury's Christmas advert. Now that is a proper Christmas advert. Love love love it. Straight to top of my list - sorry Argos your relegated to the number 2 spot.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/11/2019 09:50

Love it

floraloctopus · 14/11/2019 09:51

It's shit. It's all well them (and others) trotting out trite adverts each xmas but they just make the lonely people in society feel even more so. In previous years I have heard a few elderly people who are lonely saying they coped OK at xmas until they saw the JL advert.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 14/11/2019 09:53

I like it. The song doesn't really do it for me, but I've had my own Edgars fizzing with too much excitement in the run up to Christmas and it made me laugh.

The Pyjamas are cute too.

PiggyPlumPie · 14/11/2019 09:59

I liked it, made me a bit teary. Must be going soft in my old age!

FAQs · 14/11/2019 10:00

I like it.

StylishMummy · 14/11/2019 10:03

Love JL the best
Then Sainsbury's
Then Argos (my children are NEVER having a drumkit)
