isn't the only product made by Upfield.
You might want to be aware of some others:

Upfield's notable brands include Flora, Stork, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Rama, Country Crock, Becel, and Blue Band.

Thanks OP. Thankfully I'm pro trans rights so I'll add them all to the shopping list!

PotteringAlong · 13/10/2019 18:50

Why does this matter?

PotteringAlong · 13/10/2019 18:51

As in, what have they done?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 13/10/2019 18:51

I can't think anyone would need them all on one shopping list, surely.

Asda does nice marge for baking.

SmileEachDay · 13/10/2019 18:54

As in, what have they done?

Apart from using palm oil and being gross, they have withdrawn advertising from MN on the say so of Mimmymum (the lady who took Miranda Y to court and lost...) who says MN is all transphobic.

WonkoTheSane42 · 13/10/2019 18:55

Thanks OP. Thankfully I'm pro trans rights so I'll add them all to the shopping list!

Grin High five.

PotteringAlong · 13/10/2019 18:56

Ah, have they? You live and learn.

Jumblebee · 13/10/2019 18:56

That's a lot of highly processed plastic crap in your basket, Jason

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/10/2019 18:57

Wouldn’t buy that crap anyway 😀

Siameasy · 13/10/2019 18:59

They are all fake foods anyway so no loss. Stork is good for baking but can just use supermarket own so hey ho

reginafelangee · 13/10/2019 19:01

Thanks OP. Thankfully I'm pro trans rights so I'll add them all to the shopping list!

Me too I'm pro trans rights and Flora is my preferred margarine brand. Smile

CAG12 · 13/10/2019 19:02

Has anyone seen the quasi experiment done between this crap and actual butter?

They put a lump of this stuff in one corner, and a lump of real butter in another, then released a load of ants to see which they went too. All the ants went to the real butter.

Its not real food

SmileEachDay · 13/10/2019 19:03

JasonPollack

If that’s the case, how do you feel about Mimmymum dragging Miranda Yardley through the courts for no reason?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 13/10/2019 19:04

I’ve never liked Flora, but if they’re sticking it to the MN trans-bashers, I might have to reconsider.

SmileEachDay · 13/10/2019 19:06

the MN trans-bashers

The what?

Can you show me one example of “trans bashing”?

And if your answer is “MN delete them” then that only serves to prove that MN is not a transphobic site.

CleopatraTomato · 13/10/2019 19:07

It is not about trans rights - it is about a large company threatening another business. A business that offers a forum that is mostly about parenting advice, humour, schools, trivia, real support for people struggling, TV, film, books, travel, housing, DIY, social issues and some political debate.

The large compnay at the instigation of a small group have decided that they want to use their financial and commercial power to comment on a few posters' views.

I cannot imagine that the CEO/Financial Director or the shareholders of a compnay that makes horrid margariney products from palm oil give a shiny shit about any group, disadvantaged or otherwise - they just think this is a good PR bandwagon to be on.

Sickening.

Duchessofealing · 13/10/2019 19:10

@CleopatraTomato exactly what you said!

MrsMaiselsMuff · 13/10/2019 19:15

Kudos to Flora etc for taking a stand against transphobia. They're not making threats, they're choosing where to spend their marketing budget, which is their prerogative.

The campaign group Stop Funding Hate were part of the campaign, they're making a real difference in getting businesses to make more ethical spending decisions.

DianaT1969 · 13/10/2019 19:16

@cleopatra - are they threatening MN?
Or did they just withdraw advertising? In which case, no great loss.

BelleSausage · 13/10/2019 19:16

Here we go again with the ‘I’m pro- trans. You bigots’ virtue signalling.

Good for you.

I’m pro women’s rights. You misogynist.

DianaT1969 · 13/10/2019 19:18

You could turn this around and make the case that MN should reject advertising income from companies using non-sustainable palm oil. Now that's something I could get behind. How about a list of those.

youllhavehadyourtea · 13/10/2019 19:20

How about a list of those

Great idea!

Lets start with

Flora, Stork, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Rama, Country Crock, Becel, and Blue Band.

BelleSausage · 13/10/2019 19:20

@MrsMaiselsMuff

So you’re against someone single sex exemptions and pro repealing the sex by deception laws?

Because those are the things that the pro-trans lobby groups you are standing up for are trying to achieve.

No more single sex spaces. No more safe spaces for women and no ability for women to protect themselves against coercive sex.

TheFatberg · 13/10/2019 19:21

I'm so bored of Flora posts.

RolytheRhino · 13/10/2019 19:22

Hmm. Does Clover use palm oil? That's my favourite. Flora tastes very bland by comparison IMO.
