isn't the only product made by Upfield.
You might want to be aware of some others:

Upfield's notable brands include Flora, Stork, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Rama, Country Crock, Becel, and Blue Band.

I keep seeing "transwomen aren't women" isn't that rather bigoted?

It’s a biological fact Confused

zsazsajuju · 13/10/2019 21:19

I think it’s pretty scary that a few individuals were able to get flora to cease advertising on a mums website. On the mums website really. It’s scary that they think so little of women and free speech that they would be prepared to act like that.

I don’t buy flora anyway cos it’s rank tho.

ControversialFerret · 13/10/2019 21:19

And as I've said previously I have worked with and campaigned in LGBT rights and protests for all of my adult life. I've met plenty of transmen and transwomen and count more than a few in my circle of friends. The difference is that they think the current ideology is a load of shite and actively harmful for those trans people who are genuinely suffering with gender dysphoria, as opposed to those who are simply autogynephiles.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/10/2019 21:19

The reason why I think it's bigoted is because the majority of trans women aren't trying to "erode your rights" or get their cocks out in your toilets or changing rooms, yet people on FWR talk about it as if it's everyone. A lot of the discussions are "what if" scenarios and I don't get the amount of energy it must take to spend so much time banging on about it. Deliberate misgendering is rife, too. I just wish there was some respect around the issue for our fellow human beings. These people are real and I'm fed up of seeing posts which tar them all with the same brush. It's incompatible with my values and those of most sane and tolerant people.

How does any of that^ have anything to do with the factual statement “transwomen aren’t women”? Confused

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 21:20

Exactly, ferret Transwomen aren't women

.... but for TRAs that's "transphobic"
so they want to bully MN into deleting and banning women who post what you do

sparklefarts · 13/10/2019 21:22

@ControversialFerret wholeheartedly agree with everything you say

And whoever replied to my SHOUTY post. I don't need to respond to you. Just see ferrets posts

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 13/10/2019 21:23

If you’re on here complaining about transphobia and not on twitter doing the same then there’s a really decent possibility that you’re a misogynist and all about the men

This!

Ironically it was on Twitter that Upfield made their announcement that they would no longer be working with Mumsnet...

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 21:23

the majority of MEN aren't trying to "erode your rights" or get their cocks out in your toilets or changing rooms,

Most men are decent, but we still want toilets and changing rooms to be single sex spaces

We don't single out transwomen; they are a subset of men

NewStart571 · 13/10/2019 21:23

@JasonPollack please don’t waste it if you’ve actually bought it.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/10/2019 21:25

This^

Whatthingsexactly · 13/10/2019 21:25

“If you’re on here complaining about transphobia and not on twitter doing the same then there’s a really decent possibility that you’re a misogynist and all about the men ....And also a big fucking hypocrite”

Or just not a twitter user.

Even then, I’m not seeing the logic of:
doesn’t complain about transphobia on Twitter = misogynist

Brilliant whataboutery though. Hats off to you.

smemorata · 13/10/2019 21:25

Exactly right! And all those just saying "I am pro-trans rights" without bothering to try and even understand the problem are not helping women OR trans women!

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 13/10/2019 21:26

The reason why I think it's bigoted is because the majority of trans women aren't trying to "erode your rights" or get their cocks out in your toilets or changing rooms, yet people on FWR talk about it as if it's everyone.

Many women don't want transwomen in their spaces, not because they are trans, but because they are male.

ilovetofu · 13/10/2019 21:26

Is it because their products are full of trans fats?

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 21:27

By definition, women & girls are homogametic, i.e. with two of the same kind of sex chromosomes, XX,

whereas boys & men are heterogametic, i.e. with both X and Y chromosomes, typically XY but very occasionally XYY or XXY

GC feminists are in line with the WHO:

"The WHO (World Health Organisation) regional office for Europe describes
sex as characteristics that are biologically defined,
whereas gender is based on socially constructed features."

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 13/10/2019 21:28

Even then, I’m not seeing the logic of:
doesn’t complain about transphobia on Twitter = misogynist

Twitter allows all sorts of transphobia, porn, misogyny, racism, disablism and even paedophilia. And yet the site that gets the most shit thrown at it is... Mumsnet. Why do you think that is?

smemorata · 13/10/2019 21:28

The reason why I think it's bigoted is because the majority of trans women aren't trying to "erode your rights" or get their cocks out in your toilets or changing rooms, yet people on FWR talk about it as if it's everyone.
Also once the definition of woman becomes "anyone who feels like they are a woman" it IS open to everyone and single-sex spaces no longer exist.

PoohBearsHole · 13/10/2019 21:31

Hate to burst a few bubbles but you are going to have to really look at all own brand packaging when boycotting. They are very likely to be producing the own brand stuff anyway.

Well that’s what we do - produce own brand labels alongside our own branded products. I don’t work for them before anyone gets funny but I do work for another food production company :)

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 13/10/2019 21:32

Ironically it was on Twitter that Upfield made their announcement that they would no longer be working with Mumsnet...

Why ironically?
I for one, I never said I wasn't on Twitter.
I'm on Twitter lots and MN too.
The difference being that I don't tweet about trans issues, I only ever get sucked in on here as I spend far too much time on MN lol.
I read both sides, lots of different sources etc.
It stands to reason that I saw it on Twitter as I spend time on there too.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 13/10/2019 21:36

Why ironically?

It's ironic because Twitter hosts a whole range of disgusting views, as I detailed above, and yet Twitter is the platform that Upfield chose to announce that they would no longer be working with MN because they don't share their values.

If Upfield truly cared about disassociating from platforms which allow bigotry, they wouldn't use Twitter.

Mumsnet gets all the shit because it's women getting together and openly discussing things which centre women and not men.

Campervan69 · 13/10/2019 21:37

I don't understand why someone would admire a company for not giving money to MN when they themselves are helping MN financially by frequenting the site. If you felt that strongly, you wouldn't be here.

Good point well made.

flashbac · 13/10/2019 21:46

Is anyone else suspicious of the 'i'm pro-trans and I'm going to buy loadsa flora' posts?
Why dafaq are they on here then?

OohthatlovelyNigelfromBabyClub · 13/10/2019 21:57

FWR does not jump all over anyone they don't recognise or deem to be a TRA. They engage in sensible debate as anywhere else on this site and are very welcoming to newcomers.

If anyone reading this is unsure, go to FWR and have a look. Don't just believe what others are saying.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 13/10/2019 21:59

Is anyone else suspicious of the 'i'm pro-trans and I'm going to buy loadsa flora' posts?
Why dafaq are they on here then?

Because I've been an active member of MN for absolute years and don't want to go anywhere? I still like it here and like they do free speech.
I don't like what some are making it become though.
(My previous post went into more detail)

Just..... WTF lol
Don't recognise your name, maybe you genuinely believe that.
Just dafuq lol, just it absolutely happens.
