To think this is the end of the Tories

…..as we know them.

None of them can agree with one another. It seems that there will be utter chaos when the Election is called as their Manifesto will be impossible to write.

🤞🏻

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 03/09/2019 23:09

I've got my fingers crossed too.

They have lost all their credibility in my view.

There might well be no Tories left - Boris has told the rebels they’ll have no seat and others are leaving of their own accord.
Shame - couldn’t happen to a nicer fella. 😂

StrakerAndBarlow · 03/09/2019 23:11

Here's hoping...it's all gone Pete Tong 😁

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 03/09/2019 23:12

There might well be no Tories left

Indeed.

Their manifesto will be written by brexiteers now. I think it will be the end of them in their current form. Hope Cameron is watching from San Tropez or wherever he is! Now everyone is turning against Dominic Cummings. Good 😄

JoanieCash · 03/09/2019 23:13

We can but hope

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 03/09/2019 23:13

We've just been watching Newsnight.

It was excruciating. Soames and Clarke didn't know what to say to Emily Maitlis.

I think the question of Europe has swallowed them whole

But, to be honest, I don’t think Labour come out of this too secure either.

We need a new system of voting (first past the post) so that other parties have more of a chance. Personally I reckon that the Lib Dems and greens would do much better if voting was different.

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 03/09/2019 23:15

Hope Cameron is watching from San Tropez or wherever he is

It is definitely his extremely poor judgement that has caused this mess.

The manifesto will be as quick a Brexit as possible. They'll be elected and revoke bill that might get passed shortly blocking no deal

sweetkitty · 03/09/2019 23:16

If only Labour had someone who people would actually vote from, someone strong in opposition would wipe the floor with them right now.

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 03/09/2019 23:17

@Iggly

"First past the post" is the system in place ATM.

Did you mean that you'd like to see Proportional Representation?

OP posts:
everythingisginandroses · 03/09/2019 23:17

All I want for Christmas is JC4PM, and Titanic Plum Gin. I got neither last year, maybe this year I will get both Xmas Grin

Festivities aside, I don't blame the 21 for no longer caring to be in a party with No Deal shitehawks like my local MP. I used to live in Nicholas Soames' constituency, and would never have imagined I'd be quietly thanking him tonight, strange times...

Symptomless · 03/09/2019 23:20

They'll get the UKIP, Brexit party vote. Probably lexiters as well. Gc feminists. It'll change the party but won't be the end of them.

Iggly · 03/09/2019 23:21

Did you mean that you'd like to see Proportional Representation

Yes I mean we need to change first past the post!

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 03/09/2019 23:21

@everythingisginandroses

I agree that it is very strange to think of thanking Soames for anything.

OP posts:
timshelthechoice · 03/09/2019 23:22

No, people will still vote for them because Labour won't get rid of fucking Corbyn.

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 03/09/2019 23:22

I wonder if anyone in the party is talking to David Cameron any more?

OP posts:
SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 03/09/2019 23:25

If only Corbyn would form an alliance with another party....

OP posts:
Iggly · 03/09/2019 23:27

Soames was standing down anyway, so I’m very cynical at his move. If he wasn’t standing down I’d bet money on him
Voting the other way.

Timandra · 03/09/2019 23:27

I expect this will just make the party more right wing. They'll probably still win an election and we'll be stuck with a far right shower of shit running the country which is about the only thing worse than the shower making a pretence of running it right now.

Yabbers · 03/09/2019 23:34

None of them can agree with one another. It seems that there will be utter chaos when the Election is called as their Manifesto will be impossible to write.

This is true of every party TBH.

Tolleshunt · 03/09/2019 23:34

I’m thinking this is the beginning of the end for the Tories as we know them. Good. It was their fucking stupid idea to run the Brexit referendum in the first place. They were quite happy to throw the country off the bus, purely to neutralise the threat UKIP made to the party. It’s only fitting that they should bear some of the colossal downsides.

However..... Corbyn and McDonnell are still unelectable for most of the electorate. So what will happen? I hope the Lib Dems steal a march. Even better would be a coup within Labour to install a credible PM and shadow chancellor.

Oh please make it happen, I would jump for joy
