To think this is the end of the Tories

…..as we know them.

None of them can agree with one another. It seems that there will be utter chaos when the Election is called as their Manifesto will be impossible to write.

Not at all

Come an election or when they are in opposition see how they pull together

Cinammoncake · 04/09/2019 09:15

YANBU. But I'm worried about what it'll turn into now that the decent and nicer ones have left. If it joins with Brexit party we could end up with quite a big nasty far right group. I don't think that's good for the country.

ForalltheSaints · 04/09/2019 09:20

I wish it would be but doubt it. They were soundly beaten in 1997 but came back.

WhatsMyPassword · 04/09/2019 09:22

I had a similar discussion last night; lets be honest, there are some people who would vote for a donkey wearing the right colour rosette. Apparently Corbyns mob don’t want an election because they know he wont win, which was all but confirmed by Keir Starmer on the radio this morning. I don’t like any of what is going on but hell would freeze over before I was convinced to vote Labour. And there will be similar posters who feel the same way about Conservatives or Liberals.

I take faith in that a PM can be ousted should the party choose to do so. No PM has the autonomous right to absolute power. Long Live the HoC!

WhatsMyPassword · 04/09/2019 09:23

@ForalltheSaints - yes they came back in 1997 as Tony Blair - Thatchers biggest legacy Grin

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 04/09/2019 09:29

No it’ll never be the end of the Tories. They’re here to stay. People are too busy hating Corbyn.

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 04/09/2019 09:33

Who else could the Labour Party have as leader?

I agree that JC is causing many people to despise the party.

OP posts:
KUGA · 04/09/2019 09:36

I will be voting for the Tories just to keep twat face Corbyn out.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 04/09/2019 09:38

KUGA’s comment is my point well and truly proven, isn’t it.

recrudescence · 04/09/2019 09:40

I would be able to enjoy the Tories’ discomfiture much more if Corbyn wasn’t the alternative. As it is, I think we’re looking forward to a pretty putrid ‘choose your poison’ election.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 04/09/2019 09:44

I think we’re looking forward to a pretty putrid ‘choose your poison’ election Yep! And as pp has said, it isn't at all unlikely that Johnson wll remain in position as many people, myself included, just want something to break the stalemate the current crop of politicians have argued us into.

But when there is time there will indeed be a wholesale change to our politics. The current house has shown very clearly that it is no lnger fit for purpose! Well, I think we will soon see one of the benefits of having no written constitution!

ComftyCushion · 04/09/2019 09:45

Labour should be sweeping up in the current shit show disaster that going on.. but that's not the case because JC is too bloody stubborn to remove himself and do what is best for the party and country. My DH has been an active Labour Party member for 20 years but left this year because of JC and all the bullshit extremism leftist stuff. It's a bloody nightmare at the minute.

My fear is the Tories want to get Brexit done whatever the consequences and then have an election to let someone else try and mop up their shit. Get out and run. Bastards!

familycourtq · 04/09/2019 09:46

I fucking sincerely hope so.

familycourtq · 04/09/2019 09:47

Sadly there are still far too many people who will vote for a nematode worm with a blue rosette.

fedup2017 · 04/09/2019 09:49

I'm most worried about the rise of a more right wing ukip/Brexit/ parts of conservative party and the rise of nationalism. They would do really well in the area I live in ( and I imagine lots of similar areas). Although I'm please about the end of the conservatives I'm worried what will replace it.

hellsbellsmelons · 04/09/2019 09:50

I used to be completely 'blue'
I haven't voted for them for a good few years now.
They have totally lost the plot.
Do nothing for 'the people' they are supposed to represent.
I really hope they have a huge overhaul.
They certainly need it.
They are a complete mess and a real laughing stock!
Fucking Boris Johnson - who's idea was that!???
Not sure who is worse - him or Corbyn?!
It's friggin' embarrassing!

SingingLily · 04/09/2019 09:52

The Conservative split has been a long time coming. I also think Labour will split as the broad church concept in both parties has been tested to destruction by the results of the EU referendum.

There is such a huge ideological disconnect now between many MPs (on both sides of the House) and their association members as well as between MPs and their constituents.

What I think we have now are MPs who do not represent their constituents in Parliament, but instead represent Parliament in their constituencies. That's why so many of them are so reluctant to face the electorate.

Their lavish pay, perks, privileges and generous expenses are at risk, not to mention their ability to network themselves into well-paid directorships.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 04/09/2019 09:53

Gc feminists.

They won't get this GC feminist. No matter how opposed I am to self-ID in all its forms, I'm even more opposed to disabled people dying a few weeks after the DWP finds them "fit for work".

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 04/09/2019 09:54

Who else could the Labour Party have as leader?

Kier Starmer?

sheshootssheimplores · 04/09/2019 09:54

Let’s hope it’s not the stories out and Farage in 🤦🏻‍♀️

sheshootssheimplores · 04/09/2019 09:54

Tories

NoBaggyPants · 04/09/2019 09:55

their Manifesto will be impossible to write.

Out means out.

Kill poor people.

Done!

BizzzzyBee · 04/09/2019 09:58

I agree that JC is causing many people to despise the party
I and many others will vote Tory just to keep Corbyn out. He’s weak and his connections with the IRA have been well publicised.

SingingLily · 04/09/2019 10:00

It's not Corbyn I fear. It's John McDonnell.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 04/09/2019 10:02

Labour also have the issue that many staunchly labour voting areas (outside of the larger cities) voted to Leave
