To think this is the end of the Tories

…..as we know them.

None of them can agree with one another. It seems that there will be utter chaos when the Election is called as their Manifesto will be impossible to write.

Let's hope more constituency parties follow the example of Philip Hammonds' and refuse to follow Johnson's orders to deselect.

CendrillonSings · 03/09/2019 23:40

Not as long as Labour is fronted by the Stupid Communist himself.

U2HasTheEdge · 03/09/2019 23:42

Nah. I wish you were right, but I can't see it happening.

Alsohuman · 03/09/2019 23:43

Corbyn acquitted himself pretty impressively today.

Moondancer73 · 03/09/2019 23:47

Fingers and toes crossed

AlexaShutUp · 03/09/2019 23:47

This must be the end of the Tory party, surely. The 21 who put the country before party/self-interest are to be commended.

I reckon the Labour party will also fall apart soon, and we'll be in a new political era.

Shortfeet · 03/09/2019 23:49

No, I don’t think so .
Still the best of a bad lot.

KennDodd · 03/09/2019 23:49

At last! A Brexit benefit! Sadly I don't think this will be the end.

If the other parties could all form a coalition for this election that would be great. Even if Corbyn was leader the other could moderate his veiws.

PickAChew · 03/09/2019 23:54

I'm with AlexaShutup

I think there's going to be some big changes ahead. It's going to get worse before it gets better, though. We're going to have far more extremist politics to deal with, in the short term.

AlexaShutUp · 03/09/2019 23:55

Yes KennDodd, I'd be very happy to see the other parties unite in an electoral pact, regardless of who is leading it. All parties need to recognise that we're in a state of national crisis, and they need to put the country first.

Madeleine41 · 04/09/2019 00:00

Had to laugh at the thought if its being the only possible benefit of Brexit.

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 04/09/2019 00:15

The trouble is that none of the parties are putting the country first at all.

OP posts:
HollowTalk · 04/09/2019 00:17

None of the parties are, but many MPs are, @SirJames.

RosesAndRaindrops · 04/09/2019 00:19

I don't think so.
This coming from someone who always votes Labour and voted Remain.
Know too many people utterly pissed off with Brexit and think Boris is trying to get the job done" Brexit wise which people asked for.

Snowjive2 · 04/09/2019 00:21

The Tories won’t go away but after tonight, they’ll merely be the Parliamentary wing of Brexit Party Ltd. Very many traditional Tory voters will be looking elsewhere...

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 04/09/2019 00:24

I reckon the Labour party will also fall apart soon, and we'll be in a new political era

I just hope that the new era isn't too right-wing.

AndTheSeaRollsOn · 04/09/2019 00:26

They’re not worried though, they want a GE and it’s so disingenuous to pretend they really don’t want to do this. We now have a Gov dominated by the ERG who will have a coalition with the Brexit party if necessary. Now they’ve put all the opposition into a very difficult position. No deal should absolutely be blocked, but (as much as I would relish a GE) now is not the right time to reset the Tories five-year clock.

Rory Stewart just won Politician of the Year at the GQ awards.

My money's on the puppy. He's got more sense than his owner

I am very cynical about the timing of the puppy's arrival at the door of No. 10.

The Tories are indeed a shit show.

But the thought of JC and his puppeteers running the country is so awful I can't bear to think about it. If some of their fervent supporters on MN are anything to go by then we are all absolutely f**d.

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 04/09/2019 09:10

I wish that some of the opposition parties would just agree on a coalition for the moment.

OP posts:
Happygilmorelove · 04/09/2019 09:10

Please god, I can only hope!

Happygilmorelove · 04/09/2019 09:11

Labour need to elect a new leader forthwith if they get in though. I'm labour through and through but JC is ridiculous. Too extreme.

Happygilmorelove · 04/09/2019 09:12

Get the Tories out though that's the main thing.
