To think girls can wear clothes with dinosaurs on?

I was looking at baby clothes for my baby with my family, I don’t know the sex. I pick out a nice set with dinosaurs on, I think it was green. DSis says “what if it’s a girl?” I said girls can wear dinosaur patterned clothes too?! DM thought I was going “too far”. Am I BU? Or are they being insane? Would you dress your daughter in clothes with dinosaurs on?

Half of all dinosaurs were female. Your family are weird.

BlueJava · 03/09/2019 12:42

Of course I'd dress them in dinosaurs or anything else I liked!

AryaStarkWolf · 03/09/2019 12:42

Why can't girls like Dinosaurs? They are insane

BogglesGoggles · 03/09/2019 12:43

Have they been lobotomised? Of course a green dinosaur pattern is gender neutral.

HappyPunky · 03/09/2019 12:43

Has she seen jurassic park? The dinosaurs are female. Of course girls can wear dinosaur clothes.

WitchyPoos · 03/09/2019 12:43

Yep. Who says clothes with dinosaurs on aren't for girls? 🦖

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 03/09/2019 12:43

YANBU. My 9 year old DD loves dinosaurs and has lots of dinosaur clothes.

WombleishOfThigh · 03/09/2019 12:43

I'm a girl; well, woman, and I bloody love dinosaurs!

RuggerHug · 03/09/2019 12:44

Your family are...odd. Those kind of opinions should be extinct by now.

OchMumItsJustMaBow · 03/09/2019 12:44

I’m a grown woman with a dinosaur pattern bikini.

leiaskye · 03/09/2019 12:44

Yes, well not dinosaurs as my children are older, but my DD is 9, & wears Marvel clothes all the time. Marvel bedding, Marvel stickers on her walls & windows.

Still loves some traditional ‘girly’ things too like scrunchies in her hair, LOL dolls, so it’s not done her any harm 🙂

StepAwayFromGoogle · 03/09/2019 12:44

Of course. Girls like dinosaurs too. MIL is nuts.

Coralfish · 03/09/2019 12:45

Surely we should be more worried about these clothes perpetuating the dinosaur myth. Grin

enjoyingscience · 03/09/2019 12:45

Fuckssake. That’s exhausting. Of course dinosaurs are fine. They’re great.

SnuggyBuggy · 03/09/2019 12:45

My DD has loads of dinosaur clothes and also suits the colour blue. She always gets mistaken for a boy but I don't really mind.

I concur that obviously half of the dinosaurs would have been female.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 03/09/2019 12:46

A friend has some lovely clothes for her young daughter with dinosaurs on. In fact, I was so jealous when I saw a dress for adults with dinos I simply had to buy it for myself. It's my favourite dress, and puts a grin on my face whenever I wear it.

I think you should buy this dress for your dd. It will truly blow your DM's mind!

megletthesecond · 03/09/2019 12:46

Yanbu.
DD 10 has a shrunk top shop dinosaur sweater. My best charity shop buy.

MangoFeverDream · 03/09/2019 12:48

Dinosaurs are for everyone. And frankly, baby clothes are more for the parents than the babies at that age. They do not care nor notice the patterns on their clothes. Buy what you want to look at when you are changing nappies

Alittleodd · 03/09/2019 12:48

You cannot put a female child in dinosaur pattern, it's a well known fact that the second you do they will immediately sprout a penis.

Alternately: long extinct reptiles are not reserved for any one gender. It's legit fine.

WombleishOfThigh · 03/09/2019 12:49

@Coralfish 'Surely we should be more worried about these clothes perpetuating the dinosaur myth. '

I remember that thread. Absolutely bonkers!

lau888 · 03/09/2019 12:50

YANBU; your family is being a tad weird. Personally, I'd probably opt for plain green or camo rather than dinosaurs but I'm not into dinosaurs. x

Spinnaret · 03/09/2019 12:50

I came to say what cornflakegirl said.

Parker231 · 03/09/2019 12:50

It’s similar to the comments I received when b/g DT’s were born. We were given a lovely selection of babygrows in loads of different colours. I didn’t check DD was in the pink or peach outfits and DS in the blue or red. They were dressed in whatever I picked up first but numerous people would say I should have checked the colours before deciding who to dress in what outfit.

ThePolishWombat · 03/09/2019 12:51

YANBU! I bought the cutest sleepsuit for DC3 the other day - grey with pink, blue and orange dinosaurs all over it Smile

PrimeMumister · 03/09/2019 12:52

My 2 year old daughter loves dinosaurs! No idea where it came from as her older brother hates them but she has clothes with them on as well as toys etc
