To think girls can wear clothes with dinosaurs on?

I was looking at baby clothes for my baby with my family, I don’t know the sex. I pick out a nice set with dinosaurs on, I think it was green. DSis says “what if it’s a girl?” I said girls can wear dinosaur patterned clothes too?! DM thought I was going “too far”. Am I BU? Or are they being insane? Would you dress your daughter in clothes with dinosaurs on?

Of course girls can like dinosaurs. Pretty certain half of dinosaurs were female.

My favourite outfit for No 1 daughter was a short-legged babygro with a train on it, I was adament it would be a boy and my work colleagues bought this.

I love dinosaurs, always have. I own Dino printed pj's. DD loves a Dino, my niece has a Dino coat. DS isn't fussed on them, but my nephews are obsessed. Nothing wrong with a Dino print!

Of course YANBU. Anyone can wear anything they want.

I always look at all the clothes not just the 'girl' stuff.

Sadly there are lots of people stuck in their ways with boy and girl things. E.g. unicorns are girls and space is for boys.

Dd does have a dinosaur jumper actually. From the 'boys' section of the shop.

Just bought my daughter a dinosaur hat. It is pink and glittery though but I'm working on that!

Did they explain why they thought certain animals are 'for girls'? Presumably 'cute and cuddly' animals are acceptable to them?

My 11 month old DD is currently napping whilst wearing a dinosaur top (and green leggings) so YANBU. in fact, M&S have dinosaurs on their girls range at the moment as do a lot of other shops so your family need to get with the times!

For adults, I got a brilliant dinosaurs on rollerskates and skateboards jumper on ebay for £4. It was a H&M one. I don't think they sell them now, but they come ip on ebay sometimes.

Of course, even a lot of the parents who are keen on girls in dinosaurs would think twice or more about a boy with a unicorn. It's ridiculous, really...

I never put my DD in anything pink. She had dinosaurs and all sorts on her clothing! I was mad in dinosaurs, i had a couple of tops with them on, cartoon tops and nothing girly. My parents tried to give me girly clothes and toys and I rejected them so they stopped. I remember one Christmas opening a gift from my aunt and I held it up and said to my mum what on earth is this?! She chuckled and said its an underskirt. I threw it in the bin.

M&S had a lovely dinosaur set in their mix and match stuff. I got the dress and the leggings for my DD at her request. Yanbu!

I wear mine like the model but my shoes are black, then a black cardi if needed or cropped leather biker jacket.

I have always loved dinosaur stuff. I dressed my daughter in dinosaur stuff, no one batted an eye.
Also off the back of this thread I just ordered this from Amazon...
I needed a dinosaur dress in my life lol

YANBU. Similarly I had one male friend express surprise that DS had a couple of pink dinosaurs in his collection. His issue was not the lack of realism of pink dinosaurs, but "aren't those a bit girly?". I said "don't be so bloody daft" and left it at that. That might work for your family too, I find it a useful expression because you can use it to cover all the thousands of other crazy things they're likely to say in the coming years without being rude yourself.

I think if you told my 5 year old daughter that she couldn't wear dinosaurs there would be a riot! She is also Batman (not Batgirl), loves pink, reversible sequins and yesterday picked an action man toy for herself to keep her dolls company 😁

She knows what she likes and won't settle for anyone telling her it's not for girls!

Don't let anyone else dictate what you can and can't put a child in or let them play with, dinosaurs rock!!!
