metro.co.uk/2019/03/07/boy-19-sues-abortion-clinic-giving-ex-termination-wishes-8855393/

I don't even know what to say to this. I made the mistake of reading some of the comments about it on Facebook too.

Surely this can't stand up in court?

It’s got nothing to do with him, he doesn’t stand a chance of getting anywhere with this.

PortiaCastis · 08/03/2019 13:21

Stupid man just wants his name in the media because he has no control over a woman's body and he doesn't like it.

Sexnotgender · 08/03/2019 13:22

If this stands up in court it will set an appalling precedent.

Mmmhmmm · 08/03/2019 13:24

Ugh figures it's in fucking Bama.

Alsohuman · 08/03/2019 13:24

Hope they tell him to fuck right off and when he gets there ...

Love your user name, OP.

Oakenbeach · 08/03/2019 13:25

If this were the UK, then I’d agree.... but as this is Alabama, I wouldn’t so sure!

AnneLovesGilbert · 08/03/2019 13:26

Absolute bell end. Can’t help but wonder how much use he’d have been as a dad at 17. That poor poor woman.

Fluffyears · 08/03/2019 13:27

She could turnaround and say it’s not actually his baby if he gets anywhere with his daft plan! Her body her choice, might suck for the man but he isn’t the pregnant person

FermatsTheorem · 08/03/2019 13:29

Alabama - it's almost like a civilized society but not quite. And the court papers are referring to the aborted foetus as "Baby Roe". Bit blatant what the long term political aim is. And with Gorsuch and Kavanaugh on the supreme court, they probably will manage to leverage this to overturn Roe Vs Wade. Welcome to Gilead.

heartshapedknob · 08/03/2019 13:30

This has potential to set a precedent over who a woman’s body belongs to, which is quite terrifying.

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 08/03/2019 13:30

But this is American? It wont impact our legislation.

Bananasarenottheonlyfruit · 08/03/2019 13:31

It’s Alabama. It might stick Sad

FermatsTheorem · 08/03/2019 13:33

Yes it is in America. But I have American friends hence my interest. Also it's a case study in how even in a democratic society you can't ever take rights for granted. If you don't watch out for moves to try to erode women's rights, you could wake up one morning and find the rights you took for granted have disappeared.

Aeroflotgirl · 08/03/2019 13:34

While the baby is in the mothers body, it has nothing to do with him at all.

DarlingNikita · 08/03/2019 13:36

But this is American? It wont impact our legislation.

It's still about women's rights. I don't care what country it's happening in.

YouSayPotatoesISayVodka · 08/03/2019 13:36

No one would even represent this bellend if this was the UK but the US... Alabama, I’m interested and quite frightened what could happen next, for ex girlfriend, for the law and for all the other women living there who seek abortions.

sunshineandshowers21 · 08/03/2019 13:37

i’ve been debating this all morning on facebook with some silly little boy who thinks that he - and plenty more like him - has the right to dictate to women what they can and can’t do with their bodies. a few other women backed me up but there were also a few men prattling on about ‘men’s rights’ and ‘a father’s choice.’

sagradafamiliar · 08/03/2019 13:39

Awful, awful, awful. Poor woman. How traumatic for her :(

ThunderStorms · 08/03/2019 13:41

It’s his baby, too.

randomchap · 08/03/2019 13:41

I wonder who's funding the lawsuit. I suspect it'll be from a group wanting to overturn Roe vs Wade. I hope it's thrown out but under this supreme court it might not be. Awful prospect.

amusedbush · 08/03/2019 13:42

Exactly this. I know it's happening in America but it's a matter of women's rights. I posted because it's a disgrace that anyone would even entertain this.

It’s his baby, too.

Then he can carry it to term and give birth to it, he can take all the risks of pregnancy and childbirth.

amusedbush · 08/03/2019 13:43

It’s his baby, too.

You can't be serious with that bullshit!

OP posts:
TheresWaldo · 08/03/2019 13:43

How horrific!

ThunderStorms · 08/03/2019 13:44

No, boot biologically possible, men can’t have babies. She cold hand it over to him like a (surrogate) and fight for the law to absolve her of all future responsibilities.
