To ask how much you really drink?

I've been a bit miserable and found myself drinking more lately on an evening. Having noticed I've decided to really cut back but it got me wondering how much people really drink on a standard evening infront of the tv?

Usually a glass of wine a night cooking dinner.

ernjas · 01/12/2018 19:11

Never do!

Getoffthetableplease · 01/12/2018 19:12

Maybe 3 large glasses in a week IF I drink (usually over 2 nights), most weeks I don't have anything.

DuchessofManchester · 01/12/2018 19:12

Two glasses of wine a night

sackrifice · 01/12/2018 19:12

I'll drink a few glasses of wine...a year.

If that.

Why not try not drinking at all? If you can't comfortably do that then you probably have a problem.

Poodles1980 · 01/12/2018 19:12

Two glasses of wine or two beers three times a week. Rarely more than that because I am old and knackered

Catalicious · 01/12/2018 19:13

I rarely drink at home - maybe one gin a month. Otherwise, no more than a drink socially every few weeks, and even then, I stop at two.

I watched my parents drink a bottle of wine with dinner every night and it really put me off.

OohBabyBabeh · 01/12/2018 19:13

Usually a bottle of wine maybe once a week or every other week? On a Friday or Saturday (or mid-week if shit day)

TeenTimesTwo · 01/12/2018 19:20

I don't.

At Christmas time I might have a thimble full of liquor on a few nights.

Otherwise I never drink at home except with a meal, when we might open a bottle of red every 6 weeks and it takes a week to finish between 2 of us.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 01/12/2018 19:20

I have never been much of a drinker. My partner drinks more than me and when we first met I was drinking more with him of an evening. But then I fell pregnant and so obviously then didn’t drink at all (unfortunately I lost the pregnancy) but because I didn’t drink for a while I sort of got out of the habit.

For the past year or so I’d say I might drink 1 glass of wine a week. If that. I prefer not drinking now even on a night out.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 01/12/2018 19:21

Maybe 1 gin and tonic or glass of processco a month

CatLadyToddlerMother · 01/12/2018 19:23

Probably once every 4-6 weeks I'll have a glass of wine. Sometimes I go months without drinking at all.

If I go to an event like a wedding I'll have a couple of glasses but I go to weddings every 5 years or so.

TheFifthKey · 01/12/2018 19:25

Nobody on these threads ever drinks!

2-3 glasses of wine on a Friday and Saturday. Maybe one drink on a Sunday. Try not to drink in the week but if there’s wine left in the bottle I’ll finish it off, and I’m usually ready for a G+T by Thursday. I don’t go out very often so not much in the way of pub drinks or drinking with meals in restaurants. Very very rarely get drunk because it’s not worth it these days but do like a drink!

ChodeofChodeHall · 01/12/2018 19:27

Nobody on these threads ever drinks!

True - they're all too busy on the 'WAHEY! Let's get pissed up!' threads.

luanmapo · 01/12/2018 19:27

Weekends only for me. Which usually consists of a couple of glasses of Bacardi and Diet Coke. Wine just gives me a headache!

I used to drink that every night, my husband used to work away and I did get to the point where I thought, this is too much and becoming a problem.

Then I started slimming world and cut down because of the habit and the pointless calories I was consuming.

Since losing 3 stone and getting to target, I now just carry on with my weekend only drinking with my husband. Who thankfully now comes home every night!

I find I look forward to it more also. Relaxing, watching nonsense tele with a glass or two and chocolate :-)).

Skatersbeskating · 01/12/2018 19:28

A couple of pints of shandy once a year on our summer holiday.

Sad really Sad

RiverTam · 01/12/2018 19:30

Nothing, these days, but a few years ago I could easily sink half a bottle, and sometimes even a whole bottle, on a Saturday night in front of the telly.

Now it’s tea and chocolate. Only I don’t have any chocolate in the house. Which is SHIT, let me tell you.

Prisonbreak · 01/12/2018 19:34

I last drank in February in Vegas. Just don’t bother with it

Titsywoo · 01/12/2018 19:35

Nothing now. For a few years I was drinking 3-6 units a night and I was getting stuck in a serious habit. I knew it was making my anxiety worse, giving me acid reflux and stopping me dealing with my problems so I stopped. Now I only drink when out with friends and even then I don't drink much anymore. I never drink at home. It's too easy to just drink and really there's no point.

Xenadog · 01/12/2018 19:35

Some weeks I don’t drink alcohol at all. Other times I can have a bottle of wine. It’s more common for me to not drink though just because I don’t find drinking alcohol a way to relax. I’m very happy to go out and be the driver too.

I’d never have an alcoholic drink on a work night sat in front of the telly, it just wouldn’t occur to me.

BasinHaircut · 01/12/2018 19:35

Never drink at home. DH’s dad was an alcoholic and drinking at home has bad associations for him.

NameChanger22 · 01/12/2018 19:36

Nothing at all. I think the last time I had a glass of anything was about 4 years ago. I don't really enjoy alcohol and it kills brain cells. I don't have enough brain cells as it is.

ive been teetotal all my life and im 38 soon

onlyconnect · 01/12/2018 19:38

I drink half a bottle of wine, three nights a week( Fri, Sat,Sun); more if having dinner out or at friends'. Occasionally also a glass or two at lunchtime on Saturday.
Also more over Christmas and when on holiday- more frequent rather than larger quantity

Crunchymum · 01/12/2018 19:38

It's always "a thimble at Christmas, if Christmas falls on a blue Moon which falls on a Sunday" Grin

I used to drink too much, way too much. Now I drink very little. A few glasses of wine a week.
