Gave something away for free, but person now wants petrol money refunded?

I feel like I'm not being unreasonable, but maybe I am?

I put up a pushchair for free on a group (decent brand). Someone asked if it was in good condition and they'd be very grateful to have it. I said yes it's in really good condition (which it is).

However, there's a clip that's on the side (not really a relevant part) that has a crack in it, it's still useable but there is a crack. I didn't think much of it.

Lady messages me saying she has found it has a crack on the clip but I said it was in really good condition, and she couldn't have drove 30 miles for it if I hadn't have said it was in good condition and would now like her petrol money back???

AIBU to say no?

I have ZERO patience for fuckers like this. I'd block her. The fuck I'd give her a penny or go round and collect it. She wanted to sell it. It was free. She can give it away. Her petrol money is none of your concern. Wouldn't bother responding, just block.

Bleurgh0 · 03/11/2018 09:53

Don't rellu to her at all. Just report her to the group admin.

2cats2many · 03/11/2018 09:55

I'm another one in the 'tell her to do one' camp.

IAmRubbishAtDIY · 03/11/2018 09:56

Ah so you've met my friend/frenemy then. Give her my regards.

LordPickle · 03/11/2018 10:00

Brass neck CF! She is bonkers.

AGHHHH · 03/11/2018 10:01

Not a chance in hell would I refund her.

Aintnon · 03/11/2018 10:01

Just out of interest - how much does she want to cover her petrol? It can’t have cost her more than a fiver, surely?

Next she’ll want compensation for her time at £8 an hour too.

NutElla5x · 03/11/2018 10:03

You seriously need to ask on here whether it's right that you refuse to give this woman money on top of the item you've given her for free?!! Lol either I'm going crazy or this shouldn't even be questioned.Tell the cheeky bitch to do one and donate your unwanted items to a charity shop next time.

OneStepMoreFun · 03/11/2018 10:06

Just tell her you'll report her to admin, as no money is ever supposed to change hands on the free sites. It's against the rules.

PityParty · 03/11/2018 10:09

Not a chance in hell, inflated ego springs to mind

dontalltalkatonce · 03/11/2018 10:10

Oh, I'd definitely report her to admin, but I wouldn't tell her, the cheeky bitch. Fuck her. Send her text to the admin and block her.

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 03/11/2018 10:16

OP - you're too polite - she ain't no lady!

MaryDollNesbitt · 03/11/2018 10:17

Head over to eBay and see what the going rate for a second hand pram of that make and model is. Then get in contact with the cheeky fucker and tell her you would be DELIGHTED to refund her petrol money.

"Let's call it five quid for the petrol, yeah? I'll deduct it from the cost of the pram at second hand rates, which is around the two hundred mark" - or whatever the cost actually is - "so if you could get the remaining £195 to me ASAP, that would be great. I'm good with cash or PayPal. Or you could say thank you, stop being such a chancing little cunt and we can forget you ever had the brass neck to contact me about this. Your choice."

Failingat40 · 03/11/2018 10:23

*I'd text her back "If you wanted a perfect pram then you should have bought one, I guarantee you it would have cost you more than £4 which is roughly what it cost you in petrol to get that. I'm embarrassed for you actually, you won't get a penny from me but thanks for the reality check that people who get stuff for free are often grabby fuckers"

Then block her and report to admin*

^ This

She's an incredibly stupid CF.

Do you have her number? Try and find all her items for sale?
Report her to site admins and DWP/HMRC.

ForalltheSaints · 03/11/2018 10:25

A short reply with the word 'no' should be sufficient. After all, the woman probably had a few minutes to check when taking the pram.

JuliaJaynes9 · 03/11/2018 10:25

She's a scammer don't engage with her

ScreamingValenta · 03/11/2018 10:31

Don't engage in any way. You'll just get drawn into more nonsense and drama. Ignore her.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/11/2018 10:36

Just block, she is a chancer. Next time donate to a Baby bank or Woman's Refuge, there it will be greatly appreciated.

Knittedfairies · 03/11/2018 10:37

You said it is in ‘really good condition’, not brand new, out of the packaging, so she’s trying it on. Tell her she’s not getting her petrol money back and that you’ll be reporting her to the admin of the site (thereby cutting off her source of free items to sell)

BackInRed · 03/11/2018 10:40

Agree with everyone else she's a CF.

GinandGingerBeer · 03/11/2018 10:43

I suspect she could get a replacement plastic bit from the manufacturer for considerably less than the cost of petrol. Look into it and send her details or a link.

^^ Sod that! Why would you bother. Tell her to bring it back, take it off her, shut the door and tell her to stick her petrol money where the sun don't shine.

Shoppingwithmother · 03/11/2018 10:45

Yes, YABU to say “no.” Tell her to fuck off - that is reasonable

Darkstar4855 · 03/11/2018 10:52

She’s trying it on. Ignore and block.

TokyoSushi · 03/11/2018 10:53

Ooh yes, that's a good response 'I'll send you the refund out of the petrol money that you paid for the pram'

nordlac · 03/11/2018 10:57

I would laugh so hard in her face
