Long time lurker just changer username for privacy. Probably should have put this in relationships but wanted here for traffic.

Currently sitting in tears over what seems to be the most ridiculous argument with my dp. There is 5 years of history where arguments have often,I feel, have been of his quick temper and unreasonable behaviour.

Tonight we were cooking a stirfry, he tells me to go back in the sitting room as he will cook, I go back into the kitchen to say I think its burning, he is standing over the heat and shouts at me its not burning. I feel frustrated and (this makes me sounds about 2) stamp one foot and say listen to me, i don't want the food to be ruined. DP proceeds to fling the frying pan against the wall and chuck food across the kitchen into the sink and shout at me. He then goes upstairs, i follow him saying what the hell, why are you so quick to anger? I then am so shocked and upset that i say i don't want to be with him anymore and i go downstairs and have a glass of wine to calm down.

10 mins later he is downstairs saying he understands he overreacted but only did so because i was berating him about the food, and all he keeps saying to me is is the food actually burnt? As if that will validate him being so quick to anger.

Sorry if this seems so ridiculous I just wonder if he has reacted unnecessarily or if I drove him to it? Last week we had an argument because he said a few nasty things about my job choices, he has apologised profusely for that, but obviously I am now really upset that another argument has occurred.

Can you confirm what you mean by him throwing the pan against the wall? Did he pick it up and lob it agonist the opposite wall, or did he kind of slam it against the back splash part of the wall where the oven is?

BumDisease · 12/10/2018 15:30

Throwing the food about is a bit OTT but I'm not surprised he didn't take kindly to your interfering. I'd have told you to shove it and cook yourself from now on!

malificent7 · 12/10/2018 15:37

Foot stomping even!

SillySallySingsSongs · 12/10/2018 15:42

@DayManChampionOfTheSun RTFT OP has already said eventually with It is nothing like her OP.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 12/10/2018 16:07

Sorry I missed that page, thank you

crispysausagerolls · 12/10/2018 16:49

OP you are a dick.

ohshitonit · 12/10/2018 16:53

God this is embarrassing

Howhot · 12/10/2018 18:07

Wait, what? Op you spun this to get the response you wanted. When you said the word "fling" I was picturing him lobbing it off a wall! "Pushed back in a quick manner" doesn't even compare to that! I feel sorry for your partner

Holdingonbarely · 12/10/2018 18:14

You’re clearly both 16
There is no other explanation

SillySallySingsSongs · 12/10/2018 18:27

God this is embarrassing

It certainly is.

Merryoldgoat · 12/10/2018 19:24

FFS.

twattymctwatterson · 12/10/2018 20:16

Sorry but you both sound horrendous and it's starting to sound like you've completely over exaggerated his reaction. You need to start examining your own behaviour in all of this. He has a temper and I wouldn't be with someone like that but it also sounds like you are a nightmare to live with and gloss over your own bad behaviour to frame yourself as right while he is wrong

theWarOnPeace · 12/10/2018 20:47

You really think your OP and your update are the same thing? “Flung”, I have no choice but to interpret as thrown with some amount of force, coming up into the air a good degree. Slid and flung are not the same. The fact that you had garlic bread with a stir-fry, and seem to genuinely love drama.... fuck knows, you’re beyond anything I can think of to advise. You’re both dicks.

FullTimeYummy · 12/10/2018 20:53

"he has a temper"/"you both need to grow up"

This is entirely based on the OPs account which has been shown to be mega unreliable. First he flung a pan at a wall, then he only pushed it (away)

The OP needs to grow up for sure

DP is an unknown, although to his credit he has put up with a clearly very annoying and controlling partner, before at his very worst, pushing a stir fry away and leaving the room Grin
