"I we t out today into a supermarket and I was shivering. I do have medical shit so YABU and stop judging!"

I just don't go to Sainsbury's if I'm wearing summer clothes. Tesco is just about bearable.

Well, I have dodgy thyroid so still get cold at night. This is the first english summer I've had as an adult where I've felt warm for nearly 2 months on the trot. I've never done a summer without hot water bottles and now been about 6 weeks without..that's a record for me. And I find supermarkets and other air con unbearably cold. I'd never dream of having a fan at home. I've really got used to it being warm now so am going to get a shock when it goes back to normal. It makes me really feel alive as someone who is always cold, shivery and sluggish. And pls don't envy me the thyroid as it made me balloon and cost me my fertility. The meds I'm on don't do much

MipMipMip · 25/07/2018 23:14

Fekko the ridiculous under shorts leggings are designed to wick away sweat and keep you cool.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 25/07/2018 23:24

There’s an old guy who lives near me who without fail wears his big jacket, even in the summer he will wear the jacket with shorts and his long hiking socks and boots, I though it was crazy when I first saw him 9 years ago, now I’m used to him. 😊 I wear shorts all year round at work, even when it was minus 2 I was still wearing shorts.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 26/07/2018 12:10

The leggings I could understand - but the down-y jacket?!

MipMipMip · 26/07/2018 12:42

I offer no explanation Fekko.

Thinking about it I have seen coats with heating elements in - maybe he's hacked it and made it cool? Grin

Have been wearing my thinnest cotton nightclothes all day this week. Coat over the top for a quick 5 mins out to empty the dog.

Jessers · 26/07/2018 13:45

I'm riding my scooter so I dress for the slide not the ride, including leather motorbike gloves.
Gets stripped off as soon as I get home and then I'm in my bikini.

Some teenagers have one "cool" branded thing that they will wear come hell or high water and for many it's a jacket/coat. Same as having one pair of expensive trainers and thereafter never wearing cheap sandals again, even in this heat.

Dandeliontea123 · 26/07/2018 14:43

Every winter we get threads in the style of:

‘AIBU? To be shocked because my neighbour is wearing shorts and sandals outside when it is -5 and snowing?’

This is the first time I’ve seen an equivalent summer thread. Flowers for everyone struggling in this weather.

throwawayagain · 26/07/2018 15:23

Sorry to drift off topic.
When I read your thread title I suddenly visualized 4 conjoined people wearing coats. That would be even more strange.
As you were!

ALongHardWinter · 26/07/2018 17:59

throwawayagain Grin That's what I thought!

"I've really got used to it being warm now so am going to get a shock when it goes back to normal. It makes me really feel alive as someone who is always cold, shivery and sluggish. "

It has actually made me think about moving to a warmer country.
