DH likes to see my flab, the bonny little weirdo. But no one else needs to.

AlonsoTigerHeart · 23/07/2018 21:06

mans not hot 😂👏😂👏

DiabolicalMess · 23/07/2018 21:09

They do it here too - and they always used to then sit next to me on the bus - just to roast me up against the window Angry

OftenHangry · 23/07/2018 21:10

Saw woman yesterday in UGG like shoes😮

Gwenhwyfar · 23/07/2018 21:11

"It's women in black leggings or opaque tights that get me. I'm sweating just looking at them!"

I have to wear opaque tights because of the aircon where I work.
If it's over 24 degrees I might just carry them in my bag to put on later though. It's not been 33 where I live.

Gwenhwyfar · 23/07/2018 21:12

"i do wear leggings though noone wants t se my flab"

Why not wear a long dress?

PinguForPresident · 23/07/2018 21:12

My Egyptian colleague says his mum always wear a big coat when she comes to visit as she finds the UK permanently freezing, even when it's a heatwave.

Gwenhwyfar · 23/07/2018 21:14

"The very elderly do this. They just feel cold all the time. "

Hmm. I thought old people lost their tolerance for both heat and cold. I see some of them suffering in the heat.

AppleKatie · 23/07/2018 21:18

Why not wear a long dress?

If the chub is a real (as opposed to perceived) problem- chub rub is the answer.

A long dress plus shorts underneath wouldn’t be cooler.

MipMipMip · 23/07/2018 21:24

Yes if I'm wearing a skirt I have on at the very least shirts and most likely leggings to avoid rub. Leggings are better though as shorts rise up so if I'm in a long skirt those are my go to.

And why the objection to jeans?! They're comfy and protect you from burn. Not massively tight on my case would love that to be because I'm losing weight but actually just stretch but even if they were still comfy.

You'd hate my shoes though. Big walking boots- the only reason I'm not in my leather ones is that they're in for repair. Sooo comfy though!Grin

MipMipMip · 23/07/2018 21:26

Apple chub rub helps but I hate sweaty legs together- even in this weather I have long pj bottoms to stop me sticking to myself.

BarbaraofSevillle · 23/07/2018 21:30

I've noticed this too! They were nearly all young people and appeared to be mostly school children and commuters that I see regularly on the way to work.

I assumed it was some bizarre fashion and when it passes I will probably see them in shirt sleeves in the pouring rain as is more normal.

BarbaraofSevillle · 23/07/2018 21:32

Eg, I saw a young woman in a dress, leggings, big boots and a parka the other day.

happiestcamper · 23/07/2018 21:34

At the school i work in we have a boy that joined us from a much warmer country. You will find him in vest, long sleeved shirt and coat in this weather every day without fail.

Ohyesiam · 23/07/2018 21:36

I remember coming back from Pakistan in 1976 needing a coat at first till I got used to it.....

frenchknitting · 23/07/2018 21:41

My office has utterly uncontrollable bastard air con, and people often put a coat on when they arrive and take it off when they leave.

Also, I put a cardi on this evening when I left the house because a realised I had a sticky toddler hand print on my boob and no time to change.

Singlebutmarried · 23/07/2018 21:45

There was a lady in a Mac at pick up today at school.

I nearly had heatstroke looking at her.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 23/07/2018 21:46

I can believe it if you’re in Liverpool. It’s like, the sun comes out in January so men wear shorts and t-shirts and women are wearing flip flops. However get to July, cloud goes over the sun and the winter jackets come out Confused. I went out shopping yesterday, it was overcast but very hot - every second person had a coat on. Madness.

IndigoSpritz · 23/07/2018 21:56

In my experience, it's the youngsters (young adults) who like to be ironic during extreme British weather. I've seen dickheads in long black coats and grey woolly hats complaining about how cold they are in hot summer weather. Usually male. In the winter, you see a lot of school-age children not wearing coats, even if it's close to freezing and sleeting. What are they trying to prove ?

Gwenhwyfar · 23/07/2018 22:00

Diana - I bet it wasn't 33 in Liverpool though.

Gwenhwyfar · 23/07/2018 22:02

"And why the objection to jeans?! They're comfy and protect you from burn. "

They're awful if you start sweating, which you're likely to if it's hot as it's thick material.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 23/07/2018 22:06

Gwen - max 22 according to google - but very humid as well. And I’m not talking the odd old lady - most people!

Glossyglosspaint · 23/07/2018 22:20

Was 26 degrees when I came out of work. Cycling home I saw two teen girls walking together over the park one wearing shorts and midriff bardot top, the other wearing jeans, boots and puffa coat.

MsJacksonIfUrNasty · 23/07/2018 22:25

I saw a young women wearing a long sleeved, black, knitted polo neck today. Various older people in proper winter coats. A woman in a FLEECE and Ugg boots.

This was on the seafront in 30 degree hear, where people were sunbathing in bikinis a stones throw away.

I’ve no idea what it’s all about!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/07/2018 22:26

Might have body dysmorphia / ED and feel uncomfortable with lighter clothes on.

ED?!?! Does this mean something else as well as the 'gentleman's' condition?! If not, why on earth would that affect clothing choice? "Better wear my Arctic duffel coat today, just in case somebody decides to stare at my crotch for four hours non-stop and would otherwise notice my distinct lack of random 'excuse-mes' in all that time; whereas in this thick garment, they'd never expect to be able to see if I stand proud or not anyway."

I've seen dickheads in long black coats and grey woolly hats complaining about how cold they are in hot summer weather. Usually male.

Bit harsh to insult people for this. How is it hurting you, whether they do genuinely feel the cold or even if they are just saying it to be 'funny'? Do you feel similarly personally aggrieved about and start name-calling menopausal women who experience hot flushes?
