All the adults in this girl's life have failed her.

It's truly sickening

This is Texas, coming here soon

Wow :(

VestalVirgin · 28/07/2017 12:05

Horrible!

At 13, she could even still grow, couldn't she? This has potential to look even worse in the future. Imagine new breast tissue grows ... somewhere.

Shock

Where on earth has this trans agenda come from? And why are we seeing it everywhere? I'm all for equality etc but why are trans rights being pushed at every corner I turn? Surely the number of those who truly believe they were born in the wrong body is extremely low? I feel there is a steady erosion of Christian values and helpless to do much about it.

VestalVirgin · 28/07/2017 12:09

No, it is a steady erosion of women's rights.

Christian values are just fine; in fact, many girls to whom this is done are from Christian extremist families and that's why they feel they must be boys so they can be treated as human.

I'd give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you mean compassion and kindness with "Christian values", (in which case you might be right about the erosion, though I fear there never was much of that anywhere) but experience has shown that most people just mean "misogyny and homophobia" when they talk of "Christian values".

cuirderussie · 28/07/2017 12:09

margery I'm bothered by the decline in Enlightenment values such as empirical reasoning and material reality. Frankly, the transagenda is up there with transubstantiation and angels on the head of a pin so it's not so different to any kind of religious faith Hmm

AssignedMentalAtBirth · 28/07/2017 12:14

It's been pushed heavily Marge. Funded by George Soros and billionaire transgender Jennifer Pritzker (transed after making all the dosh) www.forbes.com/sites/briansolomon/2013/09/16/jennifer-pritzker-becomes-first-transgender-billionaire/#27346edd7424. They have funded gender clinics in the US - so funded this abomination

Yeah.

The only difference is that most Catholics I know are rather relaxed about me disbelieving transsubstantiation.

Whereas there aren't many trans-identfied people who take kindly to someone not believing they are literally the other sex.

HatieCockpins · 28/07/2017 12:16

Sad That's the saddest thing I've seen in a while. 13 is way too young to be making irreversible changes to a healthy body. I wonder how much understanding this poor child has of her situation.

How the fuck did we, as a society, get here?

AssignedMentalAtBirth · 28/07/2017 12:17

Cuir

I agree. If you object to this abuse, you are called a bigot. Petitions have been deleted for being transphobic, Any journalist who writes objections is abused online. It's an Orwellian nightmare

Gileswithachainsaw · 28/07/2017 12:18

How on earth did the surgeon agree to do that? You haven't stopped growing at 13. Shock

AssignedMentalAtBirth · 28/07/2017 12:19

Vestal
"The only difference is that most Catholics I know are rather relaxed about me disbelieving transsubstantiation. "

Most Catholics I know don't actually believe that bit either. But yeh, they don't call you a bigot and threaten you if you don't believe. Does Richard Dawkins get death threats I wonder...

giles. Money, probably.

Gileswithachainsaw · 28/07/2017 12:20

Hang on im obviously clueless about the procedures/protocol but don't you have to have been living as the gender you identify as for a set amount of time and undergo psychiatric assessment befire surgery is agreed too? Didn't it used to be like 5 years so she decided at 8 and at 13 they cut her boobs off? Shock

I await correction from experts my apologies.

thethoughtfox · 28/07/2017 12:21

Assigned, he does. There is an amusing video of him reading out his hate mail on youtube.

Umpteenthnamechange · 28/07/2017 12:22

Is there a verified link to the actual story available? From a trustworthy site? I couldn't find any on the link to twitter and would like to see the news story

cuirderussie · 28/07/2017 12:24

I know someone in the US whose daughter had a double mastectomy at 17. I have no idea how it's allowed to happen, from her posts online it would appear that the young person was very troubled, threatened suicide etc. Just dreadful.

bangingmyheadoffabrickwall · 28/07/2017 12:27

As much as 13 year olds think they know what they want, and can be quite vocal, I would say it should be illegal and discouraged until they reach adulthood.

For the purpose of saying 13 year olds think they know what is best, I refer anyone to the story of Hannah Jones who wanted to die rather than have a heart transplant. It reached court, she changed her mind and has now graduated from university. Whereas I realise the two stories are different (life and death) the fact that both were/are 13 and think they know best when in fact they don't!

This is tragic. Surely everyone goes through a slight wobble in teen years anyway? I was fully convinced I was a lesbian at 12/13 - apparently I'm not.

I get there are times when this is actually right for someone but there needs to be support in case people want to come back from it too. So at 13 you decide you're a boy, your adults need to go with that but also give you the way back just on the off-chance you're not actually a boy after all and you were just having a confused time.

WhipMaWhop · 28/07/2017 12:35

I honestly thought this would be fake, but finding some stuff on instagram check out the #drraphael

So many kids having this surgery.

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/07/2017 12:36

I read an article the other day something very high like 1/3 American males have some level of breast tissue. So she/he wouldn't have looked out of place per se. I think this is far too young.

RainyDayBear · 28/07/2017 12:39

Far too young. I have no issue at all with people identifying as a different gender and changing their body as they feel is necessary, but I do think it should be illegal before the age of 18.

Cocolepew · 28/07/2017 12:39

This is horrific.
What is wrong with these parents?

AssignedMentalAtBirth · 28/07/2017 12:40

This child is obviously delighted with it all. For now. There is a photo on Instagram with a bottle of the hormones that they are just about to inject: hormones that will sterilise what is actually a young woman. It's cruelty. What about duty of care? Does noone care about children anymore, just this horrific ideology?

YANBU Sad Angry

I would say more about the fuckers who facilitate this shit, but I fear I would be banned.
