At the moment I think it has all made him very confused. He thinks he should be fancying boys (as he is a 'girl' and I think his mum has pushed this onto him) but he actually is a straight boy.
Hm, I assumed since he wants a boyfriend, that he was gay, but you may be right, he started transing so early he might not have had any clue which sex he fancies, then.
I think, horrifically, that he will end up with no sexuality at all.
Yeah, that's probably what's gonna happen.
But why is this such an enormous issue at the moment? Surely the number of those with a genuine identity issue are minimal?
No, the number of those with genuine identity issues is high. There's many, many girls who identify as some or the other gender in an attempt to escape their oppression as women under patriarchy, and I am sure their distress is genuine. I am sure they don't identify with being oppressed under patriarchy, with all that includes.
That said, yeah, the number of those who have genuine dysphoria about their bodies (and have had it before societal misogyny and homophobia started working on them) is tiny.
Also, what Assigned said.
