To be fuming with DDs secondary school over 'fuck boy'.

Just that! For those who don't know, girls now call sexually aggressive/promiscuous boys 'fuck boy'. My daughter has no interest in lads and is only bothered about her GCSEs (very studious but outgoing kid). Today a lad in her year placed his index and middle finger to his face and wriggled his tongue between them (classy) towards my daughter. She told him, 'get out of my face fuck boy' which has resulted in her being punished via a detention. For background she is less than 5 foot in yr 10 and he is well over 6 foot and obviously trains (shithouse wall). Apparently, reason DD was punished was because she was being aggressive 😂

It's actually 'fuck boi'. Also you should complain to the school about sexual harrassment in this case, it should force the school to take this more seriously.

She shouldn't have sworn. That was just inviting punishment really. But she can and should still report his sexual harrassment.

They would both be in detention for me. I would also be talking to his parents.

Btw I think she should have got a DT for using that language. Just interested to see if he was punished as well.

they should both be punished. height has nothing to do with it.

As a teacher, I would have put both of them in detention or told them to behave

She's just defending herself though. She shouldn't have sworn but what he did was worse imo

Her language was vile as was his behaviour. They both deserved a punishment. I imagine your DD has told you 'everyone calls them fuck boys' which is rubbish. I have plenty of teen neices who don't used that language

He should get the detention (did he get one too?) and a call to home. His actions were very aggressive.
i think the school should have quietly let her off for swearing under those circumstances.

I hope that the school also responded to his sexual harassment.

If it's school policy to give detention for swearing then, yes, it was right that she received one.

I would hope that there is a more serious consequence for sexual harassment.

Victim blaming is part of the culture in many schools now.

Yesterday my son (who has SEN) wrote a reply to a nasty comment a girl had written about him, insulting his writing. He wrote "'I didn't bleeping want to write it anyway!"

He was told off for "referencing a swear word" . I shit you not. Referencing a swear word is now an offence in todays schools. The girl was not told off for ridiculing a kid with SEN because his handwriting isn't up to scratch.

I wouldn't have an issue with her getting a detention for swearing but he should have been given the same at least. Are the teachers aware of what caused her reaction?

I can't believe that there are people who think that the use of the word "fuck" is in the same league as sexual harassment from a big male to a small female.

yes size has a lot to do with it.

But it wouldn't have been any lesser sexual harassment if the girl was 6ft tall.

The hand and tongue gestures sound very offensive, whatever the size of the people involved.

It's not the same. And sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour towards girls is very much minimised in schools. Banter Hmm As I said, I'd be seeing his parents.

As a tall woman, it is certainly still possible to be intimidated by a sexual ly inappropriate man, however.

I would be furious too and I would put in a formal complaint to the head and to the governors about the sexual harassment he subjected her to.

She was absolutely right to be 'aggressive' - actually defending herself by another name.

It is very interesting because in a thread in feminism about 'pink' brain we were discussing the fact that boys are encouraged to be assertive and aggressive, but girls are told not to be. She was actually defending herself here but she has been penalised for it. What has happened is very wrong indeed.
