To be a tiny bit pissed off they stole my only bit of me time

Eldest in play group .

Youngest was napping.

Finally sat my bum on the sofa with a hot cup of tea and a bit of the Netflix.

PIL turn up Angry
No phone call before - I explain that eldest at playgroup youngest asleep upstairs it's just me . They still come in . Then I have to run around making them drinks and focusing on them!

They ruined my me time!!

Your only option is cctv above the front door and a refusal to answer the door if they do it again.

This is why I wouldn't answer the door if not expecting anyone. Unannounced visitors are so rude!

I actually said to them that I was just having five minutes to myself as youngest was napping and eldest at playgroup .

They then said Oh well we can come and keep you company then.

Like they were doing me a favour .Angry

I made several large hints that they were to fuck off but it didn't work . They stayed until the baby woke and I got the eldest from playgroup.

The thing is - this is very new . They are only recently even bothering with my DC so I feel like I can't complain but on the other hand they could have fecking rang first!

Except I have 2 dds.
I'd rather miss a parcel than have that time interrupted. Sorry if that is rude but I've got to do what I can to cope.

I get 6 hours a week when oldest is at school and youngest at playgroup. Dh works away so that is literally the only time in the week I'm not in charge of at least one dc. I do not answer the door or the phone and people know not to talk to me. That time is sacred.

YANBU. I think you need to have an honest conversation so it doesn't happen again! Could you arrange a regular time and day to meet them so they can see the dc? Maybe at a soft play once a fortnight/month?

I was waiting for a delivery so I thought that's what it was .

I think I will just not answer the door from now on.
It was awful though. A whole hour of just me and PIL.

Me running round making them tea etc making small talk .

I could have been napping too!

I would never just knock on the door of someone with little kids unless they were my own immediate family (definitely not in-laws). So rude!

I can almost feel that heart dropping disappointment you must have felt when you answered the door. My DC are older but I clearly remember those incredibly precious few moments of peace...and the rage I felt at it being interrupted/ruined by visitors or a phone call (back in the day when I answered the home phone!). Yanbu, hope you claw your me time back at some point this week.

If they come again could you keep them at the door and say "sorry, we're just off out and I'm late, I need to go" and then shut the door and carry on with your day. Smile
